The Black Walnut Inn - Featured Reviews (79)
My family and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Black Walnut Inn. We stayed in Uncle Bill’s Room which was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast every morning was fresh, made-to-order and delicious. Our hosts were gracious, kind, and accommodating. The decor was rustic and full of antiques and one-of-a-kind curios showcasing the local heritage. The parlor and outdoor seating areas were perfect for relaxing and enjoying long conversations. And the older trees outside filled with cicadas were an absolute delight. We would gladly and gratefully stay here again if given the chance. We had a magnificent time here. 😊
We stayed at the Black Walnut Inn for 3 nights while in town for my brother's wedding. We stayed with our two young daughters and also rented a room for my parents. We felt very comfortable and had a wonderful stay.
The rooms were large and comfortable, with lots of room for our kiddos. The yard is large and the chickens were a key attraction for the girls. The new owners had just taken over a week prior, but everything went smoothly despite the transition. Breakfast was delicious, on time, and accommodating of our large group. Meaghan even gave the girls some bread to feed the chickens, which was a highlight of their trip.
I would recommend the Black Walnut Inn for your next stay!
We visited friends in Amherst and didn’t realize this was “move-in” weekend at UMass. Our normal hotel was over $500 a night. We found the Black Walnut Inn at half the price, but boy…the experience was twice as good! The room was wonderful, with exposed beams which added to the ambiance. The staff was so welcoming and helpful and the breakfast each morning was bountiful, well-prepared and delicious. We will drop our regular hotel from now on and plan to only stay at the Black Walnut Inn from now on!
We stayed for a night after a concert at Treehouse Brewery nearby. Such a wonderful place! Rooms were clean and unique in a historic setting. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Such friendly owners who shipped a jacket we left in the room. Highly recommended the Black Walnut Inn!
The Black Walnut Inn is the most lovely place! Stayed here overnight for a friend's birthday trip, and we found it to be quaint, quiet, accommodating, and clean. The owners serve breakfast (which is so great, fresh, and made from local ingredients) and could not be more cordial. Will absolutely be back!
Beautiful room and friendly staff. I loved the tea kettle left in the living room area so I could wind down with a cup of tea before bed. I'd definitely stay here again if we come back to wentral Mass.
We always look forward to our stay at the Black Walnut Inn. It never disappoints. Our room was large, well appointed and very quiet. The Inn provides a plentiful breakfast with fresh made options. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We definitely return on our next visit to the Amherst region.
We stayed at The Mulberry Room for our wedding weekend. The room had a romantic vibe and was a great size with its own private bathroom. The location made it a short drive to the wedding venue. We checked in late at night and the self-check-in was very easy and straight forward.
I got a mixed platter which I ate too fast to take a picture so I took a photo of the fried oreos which are amazing! They do get packed on weeknights which is stressful on the employees. I mean packed! But come on a regular day or earlier customer se

My daughter and niece highly recommend this place. Unfortunately, Monday was their resting day. We finally get to get this place on Tuesday. Itâs definitely worth the wait.
The restaurant is very small with just a few tables for dine-ins. The
This is my favorite park in Massachusetts. Easy to access as it's not far from I-91 and the amherst/Springfield areas. The park itself is huge and has many trails. The White blazed Metacomet-Monadnock trail is the highlight as it traverses the entire
This area is gorgeous. We saw a great blue Heron (sorry the pic quality is not great), and it was HUGE.
Our dog loves it here, and the paths are all extremely well curated. It is apparent a lot of love and attention goes into making this place a gre
An outstanding tribute to Eric Carle. The bookstore and library have an excellent array of moving/meaningful kids' books. The artistic displays, throughout the museum and in the bookstore, are incredible. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
