Celebrate the crowning glory that is BLACK HAIR! Popped in for a quick visit one weekend. We had a blast shooting photos in the different settings. The staff was super friendly and there was no wait. We will be back! @garfieldjphoto

I went with my daughter and three other lady friends and we had a fantastic time! There was so much laughter and memories from the nostalgia of the set up. For us, it was more than just taking fun photos, but a time of celebrating and bonding.

A vibe! As soon as I found out about it, I knew I had to go. I have been twice and each time I have enjoyed myself. Definitely nostalgic and each room is different from the other which is great! I love that you can leave uplifting notes and be surrounded by things that are part of being a black girl/ black woman. My favorite part was the swing! I enjoyed all the rooms but especially that one. It was pretty spacious. You also have the option to purchase some merch which is awesome too! Plus, if you need help with photography, there are associates available to help. Customer service was great and there's garage parking that's available. Will be making a return with more friends!

We visited this black owned establishment on Sunday, July 31, 2022. I made a reservation prior to for 3 PM. They’re only open two days a week on Saturdays and Sundays, which is limiting. Upon arrival we parked in the plaza area. Upon arrival the outside windows have nice photos showcasing The Black Hair Experience. Once we entered the building, we were greeted by an employee who scanned the QR code on my phone for the ticket. I did have to sign an extensive waiver. There appeared to be many displays around the building which made for great photo opportunities. They also had a little store which was selling various products. It was called retail therapy and included products from black woman owned businesses. Once we signed the waiver, we were free to take pictures as we chose. They had several rooms including two rooms for little girls to uplift and celebrate their hair and black culture. There was also an old-school couch which had black sitcom family photos above it as if you were at grandma’s house. From first impressions, this establishment looked clean, modern, and well maintained with the props and difference photos sets. There were a couple of areas in the front where patrons could be seated. There were helpful black hair facts on a gallery wall, which was a great photo opportunity. This was also a great learning opportunity for the origin of some black hairstyles, and our black hair as a cultural icon. There’s also a huge gallery wall of various black hair magazines, showcasing a variety of legendary and historic hairstyles from our community. This includes new hair trends which set the tone globally for even non-black women. There was a classic kitchen stove and chair prop set, which featured hot combs and irons that we used to flat iron and straighten our hair with in the kitchen. One of my favorite exhibits was the hair braid swing, which had The Black Hair Experience written on it. This was a very unique photo opportunity with braids as the swing handles. Also the background behind the swing was braids in various different colors. There was a “black hair been popping” neon light setting which featured black women hairstyles on a gallery wall, and this was also made in pretty good lighting. There was a hair scarf wall which stated “it’s a wrap”, and had various scarves wrapped in different styles. There were other unique photo sets including a product junkie set, which featured a bunch of hair product bottles hanging from the ceiling. I wasn’t quite sure how to use this as a photo opportunity, but it was still creative. It wouldn’t be The Black Hair Experience without an edge control exhibit. It featured a jar of edge control, and a statement on the wall which stated “keep a squad that will hold you down like edge control”. Other unique props included salon chairs/stations to take pictures as if you were in the salon, and a beauty store with beauty supply products. Many black women have experienced going to both of these various establishments for their hair care needs. There was an “it’s the hair for me” exhibit that had rollers in a huge tub. They have positive affirmation slogans on the walls such as “my hair is a whole mood”, “it’s the hair for me”, and “black hair is art”. One of my favorite exhibits features flowers on the wall, and it says “give black women their flowers”, which is a beautiful exhibit showcasing the beauty of black women’s hair and us as a people. The Black Hair Experience also allows you to take sharpies and write affirmations on the walls about what you love about your hair, which is empowering. There was black hair bingo on the floor with scrunchies. This was a cute little activity that I’m sure most black women can relate to! There are also other prop exhibits towards the back of the place that showcase big hoop earrings, a little girl’s room with posters from old magazines, and an old clear telephone room from the 90’s. Just seeing these exhibits brought back nostalgic memories. I would recommend this black owned business if you would like to celebrate your beautiful hair!

Strike a pose! Such a fun selfie experience. I definitely recommend for a girls gathering and/or fun experience for out of town guests. Black female co-owners, Alisha Brooks + Elizabeth Davis, hit the jackpot with this idea. I love the background story and their success to turn a pop-up to permanent businesses in multiple cities! It was a delight to travel back in time to reminisce on my black hair journey. The bingo game was too cute & I'm sure I was able to put a scrunchie on every single square. There were plenty of backgrounds to select for selfie or group photos. I'm not a big selfie person at all. Yet had an amazing time. I love how the store supports and sells products from other black owned businesses. I purchased two pair of cute earrings. Guests were required to sign a waiver. The location has a prime corner spot in Emory Point (across the street from CDC and Emory University). Parking in the garage is reasonably priced at about $3 for 2-3 hours. I'm happily spreading the word about The Black Hair Experience!

Definitely a great experience. The Black Hair Experience is a creative space you can use to obtain plenty of content for social media. The actual cost to enter is $28 here in Atlanta, they do have 4 locations in total DMV, Austin, LA and they are opening a new location in Brooklyn,NY Just for the record The Black Hair Experience has been around since 2018 and is Women Owned Small Black Business. They have about 15 exibits that are filled with nostalgic creations from the 80's & 90's that will bring back so many memories if you was able to be apart of that era & if not you will create memories that will last a life time. They had a live DJ where we jammed for the time we were there & did the infamous Electric Slide. PARKING: Is available on the parking deck which gives you 2hrs of free parking with a validation sticker or they have metered street parking. They have a shop where you can purchase products Tshirts, Hair Products, books owned by other Small Black Business Owners. The surrounding area has restaurants that you can eat from once you leave the Experience. I highly recommend checking them out, the experience is well worth it. The owners & staff are friendly.

The museum has a lot of great spots for photo opps. It’s really a cute spot. I was a little disappointed when I realized there was really no opportunity to learn the history of black hair. No facts posted or info available. It’s really just a picture spot. It’s self guided.
