One of my favorite spots on Newbury with a fun, small town coffee shop vibe. Having frequented this shop for a year, Sunday mornings at Bittersweet have almost become a ritual for me. On days with good weather, the place could get extremely crowded, so I either come early in the mornings or order for a takeout. It was their cinnamon sticky bun iced coffee that first caught me by surprise. Since then, I’ve been coming back to try their array of distinctive flavored iced coffees and lattes. Yes, they are sweet, and the idea of sipping on flavors like iced sugar cookie or strawberry shortcake might initially sound appalling. Nevertheless, it’s always nice to have something fun once in a while, and they are great for a quick and invigorating sugar rush in the mornings. Food-wise, expect comforting staples adorned with the quintessential Newbury price tag. Although dubbing them "gourmet" might be stretching it, there's no denying that they’re solid snacks. So far, I’ve tried their Tuna melt sandwich and the Boston baked bean hot dog, and both were good. Overall, a refreshing divergence from generic coffee shop mold. If you're wandering Newbury and in need of a caffeine and sugar kick with a side of comfort, this is your spot.
I only ever come here for coffee and spinach feta croissants, and I love it. It's such a cute spot, especially in the spring. In colder months it's more of a grab and go since 90% of their seating is outside. I've yet to try any of their sodas or novelty things but I still recommend.
This place is a must when you are in Boston! Great food, coffees, and very friendly and helpful employees. Their coffee selection is amazing, we had to come back multiple days in our trip just to try a few different ones. So many options of overnight oats that are delicious (PBJ, Caramel Apple Pie, Carrot Cake). My kids loved the fried dough, particularly the Strawberry, Banana, Nutella option. Breakfast sandwiches were freshly made and tasty. There are so many grilled cheese options that it’s hard to know which to try, but check out the Caramel Apple and Three Cheese varieties. They also have hot dogs, sandwiches, waffles, non-coffee drinks, and homemade cookies and ice cream sandwiches. Definitely give The Bittersweet Shoppe a try and you won’t be disappointed!
I was served a boiling hot soup and white toast bread instead of sough dough. Then I had to cool the soup for 5 minutes before I could eat it. I returned the toast and they said nothing. I'm disappointed and do not recommend the place.
Such a wonderful gem! Lots of flavored coffee to choose from and fun flavors for the lattes. A wide variety of pastries, overnight oats, and dishes with eggs. I highly recommend the french toast sticks! We went several times to this cafe while we were in the area.
We absolutely loved this Cafe for breakfast. We both got the delicious spinach and cheese pastry (cannot taste the spinach for those who don't like spinach) with delicious coffees. Many coffee options as well as flavour options available. Super cute decor inside and out. The seating does get a little limited during peak hours. Highly recommend!
Such a cool spot to have coffee! The coffee is really good and it’s such a nice spot to sit and enjoy newbury street.
This little gem is tucked into the quaint Newbury Street area! The food and coffee were delicious, and perfect portion sizes. Super friendly staff and a cute little seating area outside. Definitely a great place to try if you like coffee and croissants !

This little coffee shop is one of the few coffee roasters I was able to find near where I was staying. Though it only had 4-5 seats in the shop, the pour over coffee was very tasty. I ended up purchasing a bag of their Ethiopian blend to take home an
Very nice place inside. The coffee is great, the pastries are delicious and the staff were very pleasant. I really cant say anything negative. I cant wait to go back. This will be a regular spot for me now.
This coffee shop is so cute and has a fantastic brunch and smoothie menu. A rare gem: a high quality, small business coffee shop downtown! The breakfast wrap was delicious. The staff were very nice. I would make this a regular stop.
A but on the pricier end, BUT their coffee is fantastic, and so are their croissants. I've tried their ham and cheese baguette, their raspberry pistachio croissant, and pan au chocolat. All excellent options for breakfast before starting a conference

AMAZING bagels and sandwiches! My favorite is the rosemary salt bagel. You can tell itâs homemade and itâs light yet so good. The coffee can be a hit or miss sometimes but when itâs done right, itâs good too! I would recommend the death cream
