Super delicious watermelon seltzer. The pretzel was delicious with the honey mustard! I do feel there could definitely be more added for kids to do like a play ground would be awesome. Wasn’t a fan of the polka music during that time but seems to be a different thing weekly. Overall perfect spot to be outside and especially with the beach next door .
Great evening by the lake to enjoy with friends! Open seating right next to the water and a great atmosphere as well. They allow you to bring your own food in, and plenty of space to mingle with everyone there! Always a treat to come here at the end of the day.
People wait all year to sit at this beer garden and with very good reason. This is an ideal spot to sit on a summer night and have a beer with friends while looking out at Lake Monona. 5/5 recommended
What an awesome addition to the east side! There are few solid beer options from local breweries. If you don't want beer they have cider and root beer. The soft pretzels are really good and they also have brats and cheese curds. They also allow outside food in, and we've even seen people order delivery from Glass Nickel. Tons of lawn games and even a sandbox for kids. Great views of the lake and an amazing atmosphere! So glad to be within walking distance.
Had a pretty poor experience on 9/9/23. We brought about 15 UW masters and PhD international scholars to tour Olbrich and then the Biergarten for snacks and conversation. Two of them were denied entry because they didn't bring their passports. They would have accepted paper photocopies of passports, but they did not accept pictures of the passports. What seemed backwards is they were allowing children and minors in without any problem. Yet turning away fully grown adults who had no plans to drink beer? The policy seems a bit backwards to allow children but deny entry to adults. I don't blame the workers. They're just enforcing what they've been told. All that said, food and beer are overpriced. You pay for the location and ambiance. Memorial Union is a much better option that won't turn adults away.
You can't find a better lake view in Madison! The rotating beers are always great and snacks are on point. The kid friendly areas make it a favorite spot for us to hang out! If I could change one thing, it'd be that they open a little earlier than 4 on weekdays.
Was weird at the beginning cause I went with my husband and his parents (they are around 80 years old). And the lady who was there stepped in front of us and said that I had to show her my ID and my husband ID to go in, even before we tried to buy something like beer, just to go in, so that was weird and I felt that like a little racist (I’m from Perú 🇵🇪 and I’m not blond or blue eyes! I have a pretty brown hair and brown eyes). I don’t know maybe was just my mind but was weird even for my husband parents who use to go there. Is normal if you try to buy alcohol and they ask you for your ID, but just to go inside the park? ... Anyway we bought hummus (my husband said was really good!) and beers, found a table and we sat there for hours , just taking and enjoying the view. The decoration is so simple, just tables and lights that’s it but is so pretty during the sunset. I just loved the place. Make sure you take a sweater with you! Is really nice but can be chilly.
Enjoyed brats and beers outdoors without loud noise. Rode our bikes.
