The Bee does a great job of leading and representing the revival currently taking place in Danville. The hotel has a unique layout, and it's important for you to understand the access to any room before booking as some of the rooms do not have elevator access. The hotel has a small, but nice continental breakfast that was just recently launched. The hotel has convenient parking, and a nearby overflow lot if needed. I found my room comfortable and quiet, and I loved the location. I highly recommend the Bee.
After reading about Danville's revival, my wife and I booked a one night stay here. When I called to confirm my reservation, the clerk kindly upgraded us to a suite. They also let us check in two hours early.| The hotel is a former newspaper, and the renovations are very nice. The hotel is essentially in the shape of a horseshoe with a nice public park in the middle. Our room was enormous and had a nice kitchen with full size fridge, sink, and dishwasher. The Keurig worked well. The bathroom was well-appointed, but the walk-in shower had one of those silly 1/2 doors that invariably allow water to spill on the floor (this is my only small complaint). The rooftop area is very nice with a good view of downtown. The hotel has a small, but adequate gym. | The location is excellent, with the River Walk, multiple restaurants, Ballad Brewing, the Amtrak Station, and other attractions within easy walking distance. We were able to park right next to the Hotel (only available on weekends). | We hope to return.
My room was spacious and posh. The service was both intuitive and attentive. The location is super convenient. It's truly a marriage of history and modern hospitality that isn't often the outcome when these projects are undertaken. A lovely place to stay when visiting Danville. My only minor suggestion to the property would be to provide some bottled water in the rooms. Having to buy a $4 bottle in the lobby wasn't the worst thing in the world but it would just be a nice touch in a high-end property. All in all, great stay!
I've stayed at this hotel many times - always when traveling for work. But I would absolutely stay my partner over a weekend. I may have left a review already... but updates are good! This hotel and this part of Danville has gotten very nice over the past several years - and it appears to be continuing. The hotel itself is clean, quiet, and it feels luxurious for the price. The value is incredible.
All I can say is WOW! From the time we walked in the lobby the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay! We have stayed in lots of different places over the years but never anywhere like the Bee! This place is beautiful and so nicely done the beautiful architecture of the old newspaper building to the super classy interior makes for a perfect blend of new and old! 10 out of 10 we will stay here again! Danville is awesome!
A gem of a hotel in a great town. If you haven’t stayed here you are missing out. A remodeled/refurbished building converted to a hotel, this place is great. Very nice rooms, great location, cool history throughout, walking distance to the waterfront with some nice views of the river and some good restaurants nearby. Highly recommend.
My husband and I decided to stay at The Bee Hotel for the first time, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted warmly by the staff.
Our stay at The Bee Hotel was nothing short of enchanting, as we discovered its hidden treasures one by one. Nestled within this historic gem, we found not only comfort and exceptional service but also unexpected delights that made our experience truly unforgettable.
One such surprise was the observation deck on the third floor. While there may not have been much to see in terms of panoramic views, the deck offered a tranquil outdoor space adorned with a cozy firepit. It provided the perfect retreat for those seeking a moment of quiet reflection or a chance to bask in the crisp evening air.
Inside, the historic charm of the hotel enveloped us, transporting us to a bygone era of elegance and sophistication. Our spacious room, adorned with tasteful decor, provided a welcome sanctuary after a day of exploration.
Artie's, at the reception desk, recommendations for local dining options proved to be spot-on, leading us to a culinary adventure that delighted our taste buds and left us craving more.
Of course, no stay is without its minor inconveniences, and we did notice the occasional noise from slamming doors and footsteps echoing through the hallways. However, these small disturbances were easily overshadowed by the overall charm and hospitality of The Bee Hotel.
In conclusion, our time at The Bee Hotel was a delightful blend of history, comfort, and tranquility. It truly exceeded our expectations. We eagerly anticipate our next visit, eager to once again immerse ourselves in the timeless allure of this hidden gem.
The rooms looked just like the pictures online did. I had a problem with my king suite, and was upgraded to the presidential suite with no hesitation since there were no other king suites available at the time. I cannot remember the young mans name, but he was a younger caucasian male who was working about 9pm on 5-28-24.
He even helped carry my luggage to the room for me. I saw the manager the following morning, and I commented on this young mans positive attitude and patience. If I were to visit this part of Virginia again, I would definitely rebook this hotel!
I have a SD, the lady at the front counter told me he couldnât go in the dining area. I let her know he was SD, she then asked if she could get my food for me bc she didnât want him around the food. We were segregated because of a disability, itâ

The front desk help was Uber friendly and gave us a great feeling for the place right off the bat. Very clean room. Bathroom was spotless. Desk available for work. Wifi worked well. Excellent experience.
Casual dining area with plenty of indoor and a couple of outdoor seating.
Walked in and was greeted by two friendly people (likely the owners).
I ordered the cajun fried catfish sandwich ($10.16) which is their best seller. Very good! I Fresh fried
I got to see the very last Flamethrower Day show: the second unplanned showing because so many people showed up that they couldn't accept everyone for the posted show...or everyone left after the first unplanned show. We got about 30 total seconds of
Great park, very clean and family friendly, our dog even had a great time. The park has some sneezing views to be scene, there's even a skate park there... We enjoyed a picnic lunch under the pavilion by the children's park, the children played on th
And we'd delivery a six star rating as this place goes above and beyond any other place in Danville! The food is always the best, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is very cozy. Calamari and ribeye were perfectly cooked and seasoned on our
