Our Family has been staying here for years. One of the main reasons we stay here instead of a beach house is because of the pier. We love to watch the sunset every night and our kids have always enjoyed using the pier for fishing. The Bay Resort used to be a very family friendly hotel and the pier was always a safe place for kids. This year wasn't like any of the previous years we've stayed here. We weren't able to use most of the amenities because of people who weren't even staying at the hotel. The hotel allowed groups of strangers to walk into the property and completely takeover the gazebo and several of the chairs that are meant for guests at hotel. In the past we've always felt comfortable letting our kids go out on the pier even though we can't see it from the side of the hotel where we usually stay. This year the pier was full of people who weren't even guests at the hotel. Some of them were very rude and told our kids they weren't allowed to fish next to them. We definitely never had this problem before and didn't feel comfortable letting them go behind the hotel or out on the pier unattended like we usually do. We were only able to enjoy the bay 2 out of the 5 nights we stayed here this year. What's the point of staying here if you don't even get to use the amenities? We might as well just get a ocean front rental and just walk into the Bay Resort for free like everyone else does.

We have loved this resort annually over the past 5 years. We come as a large family occupying about 8 rooms. We honestly don't love the recent changes with less kitchen amenities, pet friendly isn't ideal with dogs peeing on the grass where we sit and play. The dogs especially those with seperation anxiety bark annoyingly. We are reconsidering other options that may better meet our future needs with greater value. While the changes may be great for some, they aren't for us. We leave and pay for our pets to stay at home so not to infringe upon those who aren't pet people or have allergies. A separate dog area should have been considered, if being a pet friendly resort is the new focus.

Always wanted to try Dewey Beach and chose the Bay Resort based on the location and online photos. The motel is very old and in need of updating. We were disappointed that the photos looked so much better than the property itself. Thank goodness for the bay view from our second floor balcony which was much enjoyed. ||Room: comfortable beds and pillows, clean enough however toilet slow flushing, hairdryer broken, shower head pipe loose in wall. Stove very old and we did not use and only a few bowls and cups and glad we hadn't planned on cooking. Small coffee maker appreciated. Requested room refreshes only however housekeeping would not leave 2 full sets of towels only random ones.||Common areas: walkways to rooms not cleaned and full of sand and stains. A real turn off when walking to room and really unacceptable. Never saw anyone washing down or even sweeping outside areas and many times trash piled up by can by second floor stairway where guests dumped pizza boxes and trash bags from rooms. Also a real turn off.||Pool:|Small and seemed clean and small thin towels available to use there. ||Office Staff:|Everyone encountered very nice and helpful. Also appreciated having coffee available 24 hours a day. ||Conclusion:|We were told it is recently under new management and hopefully they will update the property as the location is very good. Until then I would not return as not up to my expectations.

The bay resort was perfect for our family beach getaway. Everything was walkable, the property is beautiful and it's located right in the heart of Dewey. We enjoyed relaxing on the lawn and the pool. The rooms were a little dated but that didn't bother us.

The Bay Resort was outstanding in every way! Tammy was wonderful in maintaining high quality facilities and staff. Becky at check in was helpful and very nice. The housekeeping staff was tremendous! Cecelia (CeCe) was excellent! Ryan and Luis kept the pool and grounds spotless! Our room was very clean, neat, and comfortable. All of the housekeepers were tremendous. They were accommodating, friendly, and very attentive. Our refrigerator shut down on Saturday night at 9:00 pm. By 9:10 pm we had a new refrigerator in place!! That was amazing! Our stay was excellent! Great people, very professional, accommodating, and friendly! We will definitely return next year for another week’s stay! Beautiful place!

My husband & I stayed here for just one night and the hotel was incredible. After not being pleased with the hotel we stayed in last year, we gave this one a shot and we were not disappointed! It is a great location, the beach as well as a lot of restaurants and shops are within walking distance. This was helpful to us as we traveled a long distance on a motorcycle from out of state. The shared grounds were well kept, and the view of the bay was beautiful. Even though there were a lot of people staying where we stayed, you could never tell because of how quiet it was in the rooms. Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. They allowed us to keep our motorcycle parked right outside the front office where it was secure via their cameras. Our room was up in the corner on the 3rd floor with a nice view of the pool and the hotel has small beach front in the courtyard area. The room had a small kitchenette, was stocked with clean and adequate size. We will stay again.

We absolutely loved our stay in Dewey Beach and the Bay Resort was perfect for us. It's a solid, clean and friendly little resort, which makes us for what "frills" it might lack by a wonderful location. ||The location - and price - is really the key selling point. You're right on the bay, with a very small beach and a long pier stretching out into the water. There is a friendly kayak / SUP rental place here too, and enough space for our younger kids to run around and play (plus there is a public playground a few minutes walk). There is also a nice pool - it's bigger than we expected and never got too crowded for our stay (mid week). ||Rooms were clean and comfortable, if dated, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The bay rooms have balconies overlooking the bay - a view that based on the houses nearby must literally be a million dollar view. It's just really nice to sit out - they're also in the shade during the morning and maybe early pm depending on the time of year. It was a little noisy out there in the evenings when there was music from the nearby venue, but we didn't hear that inside the rooms at all. ||Because the barrier island is so narrow at this point, even being on the bay, it's a 6 minute walk to the sea beach - which is beautiful, with lifeguards and even a roving Italian ice seller. No boardwalk, but there is one up in Rehoboth, about a mile north. The main road is the halfway point between Bay and Beach and has plenty of restaurants to choose from, plus live music venues and bars. ||Between walking and the Jolly Trolley to Rehoboth, we hardly used our car at all - it was really nice to be able to just potter around and enjoy this beach community. ||We'll be back - highly recommended. Just don't expect a luxury resort: this is a friendly and clean place, in good repair but perhaps a little dated. Everyone - guests and staff - were very friendly, plenty of kids but not overrun. If you want a good quality motel type experience in a perfect location, this is for you.

I love this beach! Grab some food and sit on the beach with a towel! This place is the place to go to avoid tourist life and live with the locals! Please note that they generally do not allow fires on the beach and you do need to pay for parking star

Fun place for the kids with a covered gazebo to sit and watch when not playing with them. Water fountain provided for hot days. Kids loved all the toys in the sandbox. There was even a book exchange for story time under the gazebo.
