The location is great. Everything is accessible. All extra essentials are available on each floor. The hotel is really clean. All services are easy and straightforward. The room service isn't free of charge. But it wasn't so relevant on my short stay.
We stayed in the Double Room, 2 Queen Beds.
The main pro for this place is the location. It's within walking distance of the Liberty Bell, other museums, public transportation, and restaurants.
However, the cons outweigh the pros. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. We stayed multiple nights, and the street noise was unreasonably loud on Friday night. They provide ear plugs and a cheap white noise machine, but we ended up using a white noise app on our phones because it was better. The windows do nothing to sound proof the room. The wall was at an angle in our room, so the curtains did not block out the light, and the room was very bright at night. There are no overhead lights in the rooms, just lamps, so the room was very dark in the evenings. There were soft spots in the floor like there had been a leak recently. The room itself was dirty. Our white socks did not stay white for long with the dirty floors, and the walls were covered in dust.
This place needs a lot of work, and we wouldn't stay here again.
What a unique way to do a hotel. The rooms are nice, using the app is very cool, and I appreciate that service is at your request. It's in a cool, pretty safe neighborhood and walkable to many of the tourist attractions. Just today we walked to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, Reading Terminal Market, the LOVE statue, and then back (roughly 3.5 miles). Parking is a pain, but the Locust and Juniper garage is close by (but very full).
What a hidden gem in Philly! We booked this place as one of the cheapest in the city, but we were BLOWN AWAY! It was one of the largest rooms we've ever had (perfect for 4 people in a standard queen room), and had plenty of in-room amenities. The location is second to none, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and access to tourist attractions. Sonder even has lockers to store luggage which was amazing for us as we arrived early on Saturday. This is a great steal in central Philly!
Amazing central location. Most ideal if you don’t have a vehicle to park but if you do there is a garage one block away. Be sure to download the garage’s app (ParkIt) for a discounted rate that is more reasonable than anything else close by. Great restaurants, shopping, public transportation & landmarks are within short/ moderate walking distance. Our room was clean and as pictured. Check-in was smooth. The double shower head made it feel like the water was hugging you…which made up for the tight space in the stand up shower. The bed was comfortable. This property does not have a staffed lobby. Hallways are very quiet and sometimes seems like you are the only one there…which can give “if i scream no one will hear me” vibes. You must log into your own streaming accounts to watch TV…this may be a coincidence but I used my Netflix account, made sure to sign out, but on the day I checked out I received notification that someone had changed my password, added and additional user and purchased the premium plan. I am not sure how that happened since I was careful to log out. That said, be careful using your credentials to log into the TV at Sonder properties! Thankfully I got it corrected quickly. Overall this property makes for a comfortable Philadelphia stay at a very competitive price in comparison to other accommodations nearby. This is my fifth Sonder stay and this brand has yet to disappoint.
Loved the location. Easy to park in the lot across the street and near great restaurants and bars. The room was big (queen loft) with the bedroom upstairs. There is no staff on site (many Sonders have a front desk). There was a water leak in our bedroom so there was no one to fix it. We just put a bucket under it, but it’s not great if you have an issue since there is no one on site. The chat person was helpful though. I’d recommend this spot, but I prefer the Witherspoon around the corner
Excellent location. Had issue with air conditioning the first day but it was fixed by day 2 and we were compensated for the no a/c. Room was very clean and well stocked. Room could use some decorations. Beautiful lobby
The Sonder at the Arco was a really lovely place to stay. The details in the hotel are so chic with exposed brick and art everywhere. The hotel is located in Philly’s gayborhood. So many great restaurants and bars! There are some homeless people asking for money around the neighborhood but I never felt unsafe. I wouldn’t recommend staying here with small children as the street noise is loud given the vibrant nightlife. Would definitely stay here again.
A unique hotel with history and a very nice decor to enhance any stay while traveling. We stayed there for a couple days during the New Year's Holiday and had a wonderful experience. Great location in the middle of the city, safe and close to everyth
We booked the deacon for a weekend and as our wedding venue last month and we could not have been happier with our choice.
The building is gorgeous with so many beautiful details, the stained glass windows all of it is stunning. The rooms are spacio
Joined on a student membership for the summer and really enjoyed my experience. All the trainers were highly knowledgeable (and incredibly athletic) and made sure everyone felt welcome in the gym. When I was dealing with a shoulder injury, they were
Coffee here was amazing! The iced latte was great! The black coffee was something else! So fruity and aromatic - truly a great experience! Very much recommended getting their beans too!
A must stop if you are in Philly!!! Kevin's creations are incredibly delicious. Put down the cheese steak and go grab some tasty vegan, gf and dairy free options. Dessert=a meal. Back-to-back visits made us super fans!!! Pls open up a place in J-
