Very well done museum. Displays and information provided explained very well complicated law. This musuem is inside and old bank and the building itself is beautiful inside. Plenty of parking. Easily located.
Don't get hung up on the highbrow moniker, the American Museum of Tort Law in Winsted is a dive into the guts of the beast they call justice. It's an oddball kind of playground, even the young punks can dig — a place where the law ain't just words on some stiff's paper. It's a hands-on, dirty-fingernails tale of the little guy swinging back at the big shots. They've got the whole circus of the courts laid bare, the good, the bad, and the ugly — from tobacco hawkers to car makers who thought they could cut corners. Yeah, they've spun it all into something even a middle schooler could get a kick out of.
Very informative small museum. You’ll have to do a lot of reading. You’ll get to see a beautiful vault and a cool car too. Love the T-Shirts, if only they had them in black.
Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The design work and illustrations made it easy and engaging for even a non lawyer such as myself to comprehend and want to learn more about tort law in the United States.
Fun little museums. A lot of written info, but was hoping for more "things" on exhibit.
A wonderfully engaging, informative museum. I knew a few of the major cases featured here but have no formal background in law, and everything here was presented in a way that was highly accessible without being reductive. The well-arranged exhibits present landmark cases in ways that also leave you to ponder the larger legal, ethical, and moral problems presented. A great find!

The only museum of tort law and consumer protection. Featuring famous consumer lawsuits and a great selection of dangerous toys for kids (for display purposes only) . Fun for young and old alike! Flaming rats, exploding Pintos, and a real live swing axle Corvair. Great souvenirs and friendly staff. Plan to spend an hour or so. Well worth the visit.
