The Texas Reptile Zoo is a hidden gem in Bastrop! The facility is family owned and operated. The owners are very friendly, informative and engaged with their guests. I was especially impressed by the high level of animal activity in each exhibit!! (There were not any sleepy, hidden animals to be found there! Fantastic!) It was interesting to see that every habitat was hand crafted to replicate the natural enviornment that each particular animal thrives in, contributing to animal activeness. The zoo is in it's first few years of operation and it is really neat to see the creative renovations the owners have been making onsite. I am looking forward to bringing my family back over the years to watch this zoo continue to expand and grow!
We visited TRZ the first week of moving to Bastrop. We had such a great time! By sheer luck, we arrived shorty before the scheduled feedings and I’m so glad we did. It was a cool learning experience for our 4 year to witness how everything has to eat. I was so impressed with how active the reptiles were and I absolutely loved the Afghan tortoises. This is definitely a place we would bring visitors but I wouldn’t even need an excuse to visit again. Highly recommended!
We had a really enjoyable experience here. The owner took the time to show us every exhibit and tell us about all the reptiles. I have 10+yrs of experience with reptiles, and i was impressed witht the high level of care and natural habitats. Really great place, highly recommend.
Despite having read the great reviews prior to coming, I hadn’t expected the Texas Reptile Zoo to be such a wonderful experience. Each animal really did have its own personality. The owner was clearly very passionate, and he showed us some crocodile and tortoise feedings. This place is such a hidden gem in Bastrop. I will definitely come again in the summer.
This facility is great, and the owner is so knowledgeable and personable he showed us around and answered all our questions. I took my husband for our anniversary, we absolutely loved it! We came to see the Iguanas and they did not disappoint. Iguanas included: one Spiny Tail Iguana, two adult Rhinoceros Iguanas, one adult Green Iguana, and several baby Blue Rock Iguanas and baby Rhinoceros Iguanas. Great place for kids who like reptiles and adults, If I am ever back in the area I will return with my family!
I took my 3 year old daughter to the Texas Reptile Zoo today and we had a great time! The facility is clean and the reptiles appear to be very well taken care of. There are many different types of snakes and other reptiles from all around the world ( some of which have been rescued) & we loved looking at all of them & reading their stories. There is a large tortoise outside that is a joy to watch. The highlight of our visit was when the owner called the crocodiles out by name and fed them. We will definitely be coming back and I will be telling all my friends with kiddos to come check out the Texas Reptile Zoo!
My kids and I LOVE this zoo! The Texas Reptile Zoo has a quality facility that is clean and well maintained. The owner takes in "rescued" reptiles and rehabilitates each one based on their specific need. Each reptile at the zoo has their own individual story to tell and the owner takes pride in understanding how to help each species achieve their recovery. We look forward to going back to see their new additions to the zoo!
The zoo was incredible! Tim, the owner, showed us around and shared so much information! I can't wait to see him expand the place just so I can learn more about the reptiles. It was an amazing experience! I am so happy we got to see so many of the reptiles eat! Super amazing, 10/10 spot!

We were vendors at the Christmas Saturdays event. The Bastrop County Museum & Visitor's Center was nearby and offered restroom access to whomever. While going in and out, I had the opportunity to meet the lovely ladies who work there. Truly kind peop
This place is GREAT! Another reviewer said it has "mismatched" tables and chairs, but that was not true today. It's a small business, and a good portion of their trade is takeout, so there are only a limited number of tables and chairs.

Wow! What a fun place! A friend and I met for breakfast at 8 and by the time we left it felt like most of Bastrop was there and rightfully so. We had Migas, grits, eggs, home style potatoes, biscuits, basically the works to try out a breakfast place.
Would rather HEB would upgrade more into a huge overall food and department store. I would rather put my money into HEB than into a corporation that doesn't even donate to the community. You can always find massive products that come from HEB at any
