Tear Drop Memorial - Monument in Bayonne - 51 Port Terminal Blvd, USA

Lovely space tucked (hidden) away on the water. It's difficult to know this place exists unless you look at Google (Apple) maps and stumble upon it. You will have to drive past a residential section and then a large shipping area and finally the cruise port before getting to this place. It has a large parking lot and was very quiet and empty when I visited at about 5:30pm on a Wednesday. The park has some benches and is very well-maintained. There were a few people there fishing by the waterline as well. The highlight of the park of course if the tear drop memorial...which is massive and beautiful. It was a gift from Russia in 2006 following the 1993 and 2001 WTC attacks. There is some interesting information about the monument, its history and construction on the official website. I suggest you take a quick look before going. There was one port-a-potty there but not the cleanest place to "go" as most port-a-pottys are.

The place is quite remote, but well maintained and cozy. There is parking, there is drinking water in the fountain. The sculpture is huge. This artist loves huge sculptures, he is probably paid by size and weight. It is very sad to look at the names of people.

Beautiful monument and beautiful view. But the pathetic and cowardly action by Bayonne local government to seal off Putin's name is outright deplorable

Hidden gem. Spectacular views of New York harbor. A must see. Bring a picnic lunch.

Profoundly beautiful. You'll have the entire park to yourself on most days.

Ready interesting place. Location was most interesting... It's behind a lot of construction and old buildings, on a windy road that makes you think 'there's a drug deal going on here..'. I'd say stay away from the area in the off hours, as some cars came and parked in the lot while we were there at closing and the people just stayed in their cars... Really seemed sketchy.. But the memorial itself! Tucked away at the end of the road is one of the most unique memorials I've ever seen. You have your steel beam from the Twin Towers, but the Tear Drop itself is very well built, very large, and very interesting! I have no idea why it's tucked away so far from anyone's view (maybe because it was a gift from Putin and Russia?) but it's one of the nicest memorials I've seen! More points because we were the only two people at the site and got to enjoy it all to ourselves with a nice view of the city lights coming on at dusk! Hours were from dawn to dusk, and we saw a police care come racing down the road, presumably to shut the doors at the end of the day, but it made us feel a little safer to know they look out for the area as the memorial is in a suspicious place.. Great memorial, no one else there, really unique compared to other memorials and larger than most (it was really tall), I'd say if you're hunting for memorials to visit, you have to see this one as it's one of the most unique, and uniquely placed, I've ever seen!

Nice quiet place to enjoy water views and also you can see downtown new york skyline from here. The memorial is a beautiful peice of art. Plenty of parking here.
