These women can throw down on some good ole home cookin! I've passed this place almost daily and didn't realize that it was a place to eat. My uncle took me there for lunch last week and it was absolutely yummy 😋 Would highly recommend one of their lunch plates. I had enough to take home and eat again.
Upon my arrival, I was ready to eat. But lady immediately apologized because they were closed. Afterwards, she stated she was only joking... Now, the hotwater bread deserves a review alone. Words cannot describe the goodness my mouth experienced. Everything looked mouth-watering, leave me alone, time to eat good. The veggies seasoned with love. The dumplings had plenty chicken and broth, but the actual noodles (dumplings) were under cooked. Atmosphere peaceful.
Been in Shreveport all these years and just now learning about this southern hole in the wall. If you love southern /soul food then this is the stop. From oxtails to neck bones. And if you leave hungry you didn’t clean your plate. And best hot water cornbread hands down .
Omg! I've been in town for little over a week and I've been to Taylor's at least four of those days. The staff is very hospitable. They make you feel so welcomed. The food tastes like a plate from grandma's house or one of those old school church anniversary plates from when I was younger. Lol! There is nothing bad on the menu. Everything I've had was tender and flavorful. They give you the choice of rice or mashed potatoes, two sides and hot water cornbread or cornbread muffin. They have some great deserts and the lemonade is delicious. I've had the smothered porkchops (my fav), fried porkchops, turkey wings, beef tips, smoked neckbones, oxtails and fried catfish. You can only get soulfood like this in Louisiana! The only sad part is that they are only open from 10:30am - 3pm, Monday thru Saturday and closed on Sunday. Wish they would stay open a later and/or on Sundays. I could eat here every day, but I know they need time off to prepare. So I understand. Great job to everyone that make Taylor's the establishment it is.
Let me tell y'all something. This was my first time eating here. Had never even heard of this place. I ordered the oxtails, dressing, cabbage and hot water cornbread. Absolutely delicious!! I am in love with Taylor's and this is officially my new spot to eat at when I visit Shreveport. Nice people and awesome food. What more can you ask for?
Very good food and nice portions; however who need 3 side items. Probably should cut one of the sides and lower the price as $18 a plate is pretty steep and getting full of sides isn't the answer to $18. TRUE SOUTHERN COOKING.
If you're looking for the food your Grandmother made then this I the place and the portions are just like Grandma's. Eat here with confidence that no matter what you order it's gonna be wonderful. Oh you must have a piece of hot watering cornbread with your meal..!
Went in for the first time and was not sure what to do so I followed along in line. When I came up to the counter I paid and grabbed some silverware that was right by the register thinking that’s what you’re supposed to do. The lady basically scolded me and said not to touch “her” silverware and that she’ll hand it me. I don’t like attitude so I’ll never be back. The food was mediocre anyway.
