Came here for dinner while visiting my sister. We decided to sit in the garden upstairs so we had views of the city which was nice. The flambéed cheese and calamari were both excellent. Likewise all our dinners were wonderful and the staff was very attentive, pleasant and helpful. This made for the start of a wonderful evening overall. They have at least two bars upstairs and downstairs that are nicely stocked and have a nice selection of wines and beers. Being downtown, convenient parking can be a little challenging to find so if you made reservations, which I recommend, arrive a little early just in case you need a couple extra minutes finding a parking spot. My family really enjoyed their meals. I will definitely return the next time I am in town.
The menu offered an array of options, it was just enough and not overwhelming. The vibe is definitely charming. We were seated on the first floor, but was able to peek at the 2nd floor, which provides an open-air space during the warmer months. A few guests at the table enjoyed the sangria and we ordered the trio of spreads to share among the five of us. Of all the dishes ordered, we really enjoyed the Moussaka and the Chicken Souvlaki. The beverage service and refill timing was sluggish.
The food was very delicious, our appetizers: pita & hummus and calamari were delicious but the humus was not the best. The Grecian Grill served a lot of food that I didn’t even take a picture of; there were so many plates. The pita bread, salad, chicken and shrimp souvlaki was delicious.
My wife and I wondered in here without reservations on a beautiful Raleigh evening hoping to get a table on the upstairs patio but without any luck so we settled for a high top table near the bar. We might have been a little disappointed about not having a seat on the patio but every other aspect of our dinner was great. Friendly, helpful, attentive service from the bartender. Great drinks from the bar. The food was delicious, strongly salted but I prefer that to food under salted. Grilled salmon was cooked perfectly. The spinach it was served on had a very strong garlic and salt flavor but it worked as seasoning for the salmon, just use as much as you want with each bite of salmon. The meatballs and zucchini cakes were both delicious, on the salty side but delicious. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.
My wife and I had a great time at the Taverna Agora. It was her birthday that fell on a Monday this time, and most of the places are closed on Mondays here. This Greek place was one of the rare ones that was open and we were not disappointed. The rooftop is pretty and well lit. The food was delicious with generous portion sizes. We ordered the zucchini fritters and stuffed eggplant for the starters. For the main course, we got the veggie entree (the only veggie item on the menu) and chicken pasta. The drinks selection was great as well. Overall, I'd recommend it for a nice, cozy date night.
We love this place. We purposely went on New Years Eve to celebrate because they had their belly dancer there and live Greek music. It's such a fun vibe, and I believe that she's there 2x a month on Fridays. The food was good. We especially loved the steak souvlaki dinner it was so tender. The service was great, and the staff there were extremely helpful. We can't wait to go back
I stopped by here with a group of friends before a show. We ordered the shareable trio tzatziki so we could try all 3. The lamp chops are pretty tasty and so is the fisherman’s pasta. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a Greek restaurant or a date night.
Hands down the best Greek food in Raleigh! The humus is so good and the Crispy Kasseri Cheese is the perfect about of crunch. We tried the Chicken Penne Mykonos, the Moussaka, the Pastitcio, and the Souvlaki Platter. Everything is delicious and you can’t go wrong! The upstairs opens up for the perfect mix of indoor/outdoor dining. If you get there early, ask if you can sit upstairs!
