My wife and I went here for breakfast on our last day in the Over the Rhine area, and it was such a nice meal to end our trip with. I got the breakfast plate with waffle, eggs, potatoes and goetta. It was all super tasty. The waffle was a bit on the crunchy side, but still very flavorful. The breakfast potatoes were exceptionally good, with delicious caramelized onions. My wife had the over the top waffle, and loved it. I had a taste as well and really enjoyed the lemon curd. The bottomless Belgian coffee was also very good. Overall, a great place for a good breakfast.
This place is amazing! Located in OTR , over the Rhine historical part of the city, it was not too busy on a Saturday evening. And it was one of a very few places where you can get fresh crepes in Cincinnati! Luckily for us it was open and as we were craving dessert, we went with a sweet, Nutella/banana and apple/walnut caramel 🍏 crepes and a strawberry 🍓 Belgian waffle with whipped cream! All of it was delicious 🤤! Waffles 🧇 are incredible and fresh, so as crepes, and all of the ingredients! It took about 10 minutes to get it done, and everything was super fresh and tasty 😋 Interior is very nice and clean with large windows and beautiful chandeliers! And service was nice and friendly!! Will be coming back!
Taste of Belgium was so good, that I ate here twice during my visit to Cincinnati. Tasty, hearty and authentic food with outstanding service. The first day I ate here, I started my meal with the Bier Cheese & Pretzels. The cheese sauce is infused with a Raspberry Lambic and served with housemade pretzels. The pretzels are soft, dense, crisp and the perfect delivery method for the delicious cheese! So dang good! For my entree, I ordered the waffle & chicken. It's a hand-breaded chicken breast served with one of their traditional waffles. I got my Ohio maple syrup & hot sauce on the side so I could control the taste I'd get with each bite. It also came with a garnish salad of shredded carrot, cucumber & crumbled blue cheese, tossed in lemon vinaigrette. Every bite of this dish was savory and delicious. The chicken is moist, seasoned so well and cooked perfectly. The waffle is dense, filling and unlike any other waffle I've ever had. I wish I had bought some extras to bring home with me! The second time I ate here, I ordered the house made meatballs and fries. The waitress told me the recipe for the meatballs belongs to the mother of the owner who is from Belgium. They were so decadent, filling and unique. I also ordered a side of the Goetta. I had read about Goetta, which is a Cincinnati made meat dish of German immigrant descent. This one in particular was Eckerlin goetta. It was soft, salty and would be a nice addition to the traditional breakfast meats. I'd definitely have it again. Local craft beers are available, along with many beers from Belgium and a plethora or unique, creative and amazing sounding cocktails. I enjoyed a few Belgium beers, one of which was served in a very unique glass, houses in a wooden handled holder. I believe this was the Pauwel Kwak, and was one of the best beers I've had in resent memory. Maybe that was the Bier Cheese talking! If you're in Cincinnati, do not miss this spot. Best meal I had while in Ohio. Thanks Taste of Belgium, I hope to return one day!
When i say i will ALWAYS brag about my meal at this place! I have been chasing what I feel the perfect chicken & waffles should taste like and I was in complete bliss I took my time savoring their's! The dish was perfection for me and I plan to return during my upcoming trip back to Cincinnati. Thanks for the experience!
We sat in the private dining area and it was very quiet and neat. We ordered the bacon and cheese omelet (which is full of peppers and onions as well) it was really good and the fries and dip were delicious. The goetta was awesome and it is like a sausage meatloaf! Then the Over The Top waffle which was delicious!
A gem right in the heart of the city. The food is so worth the wait. The staff are very friendly and attentive. If you like breakfast waffles in particular this is definitely a great place to come.
This place was so good, I ate dinner here and came back later for dessert. The staff was really nice. The atmosphere was laid back but the food made you feel fancy. It's a little pricey but the food was truly phenomenal. I dropped in here after seeing it on the Food Network Channel and I'm so glad I did!
I really wanted to like it! I read the reviews and was super excited to try this place out. I came here for a late brunch (3pm) with my friend who recently moved here. I've had a lot of amazing German food while visiting the area so I was looking forward to getting a Belgium waffle. Personally, the food was mediocre at best and that was because all the food tasted too sweet for my liking, so please keep that in mind, this is just my personal opinion and could have been impact by going during a slow time! Food: We ordered the poutine fries as an appetizer and it was not my favorite. Poutine was good, however the fries were soggy and some were undercooked. The beef gravy was good upon first bite, but after a few more it was a little overwhelming and had a sweet after taste. I ordered the chicken and waffles without the hot sauce and blue cheese. I was very much looking forward to the waffle, unfortunately the waffle was dense and too sweet for my liking. Even with eating the waffle with the chicken and the side salad, the waffle's sweetness was extremely difficult to mask. My friend got the waffle Benedict and expressed the same sentiment. I love brunch and I was really hoping we found a good place, but unfortunately this was not it. Wait time: We didn't have a wait at all and got seated promptly. Service: The service was good, but the waitress didn't seem all that excited, which is totally fine and she did her job, just nothing noteworthy or spectacular. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this as a brunch spot. Staff was friendly and seating was readily available, but the food overall was far too sweet. I see a lot of amazing reviews, so I genuinely hope others have better experiences! I'm hoping that this was just a one off anomaly.
