Burritos the way God intended. Service is quick, and you are expected to figure out everything beyond the counter, which works out for the atmosphere. Had the California Burrito with lengua, it was cheesy and tasty, not spicy at all. Highly recommend.
Killer spot for tacos. The fish tacos are crazy. Don't know why I get chorizo breakfast burritos? They are always mushy! Excellent salsa bar! The orange salsa with apple cider vinegar is next level! 💥🌶️❤️
Clean, inexpensive and great food!! Not much more to ask for! Even the bathrooms are clean. This small taqueria serves a lot of food quickly and the food is excellent. We split a jumbo burrito with pastor meat. It was big and juicy! They also put a slaw in the burrito which made it so moist and tasty. They have all the condiments and chips you can want self serve. It’s busy but the line moves fast and they have some tables inside and out with a lot of counter space. I highly recommend this wonderful eatery.
This is very busy and popular. I paid for parking on the street because I didn't see the freecparking lot.
The food was pretty good. I like that they have a self-serve salsa bar. The service was fast--for how many people people were getting food.
The service was efficient. However, the person behind the counter was not friendly, and he wasn't very helpful when I asked questions about the food choices.
We Got two bacon burritos. They were AMAZING! So delicious and very big.
The salsa bar is awesome. Warm chips and salsa as an appetizer before u get ur food. 😋
Definitely recommend.
Came during the lunch crush time... the line was almost out the door. Self-service nachos and salsas, and tortillas served warm in foil with your order.
Note: If you don't remember anything else, know this: the Green Salsa Was Extremely Salty--I did not dip into it twice!!
There is only sparse metered parking on a busy street corner.
Not worthy to mention any dining atmosphere, with only mix and match chairs and tables overlooking the busy street in Santa Cruz, CA. A Hispanic FedEx driver was a customer, so he must have liked the food... younger crowd there, also.
Cashier and cooks doing the best they could. Tips accepted in a tip jar.
Other customer enjoyed the Carne Super Burrito. The Chile Rellenos plate (pictured) was about $20. Traditional Mexican drinks available, with refills on drinks being self-service. Also had one custom Coca-Cola soda dispenser available for dozens of self-made flavors.
RECOMMENDATION: 3 STARS Average.
With so many other food places in Santa Cruz, it would be a while until I return.
⭐⭐⭐
Food: California Burrito with Carnitas. Jarritos, of course. Complimentary chips & salsa buffet style (chef's kiss). I've had some of the best Mexican food in the U.S. This was a stellar experience. Easily worth spending $15+ per person if that's what your bill needs to look like. I had to eat the burrito in two different sessions; enough said. The blend of flavors was unique & endearing. Warm.
Service: all of the staff were nice & clearly keeping the place clean. By the time I could sit my drink & salsa down, my number was called. Even with no line...that's eerily fast.
Atmosphere: the place screams "hole in the wall" in the best way possible. Great music in the background. Calm but not quiet. A classic local restaurant that cares SIGNIFICANTLY more about making good food than making renovations or updates for an IG-campaign.
I walked 15 minutes from my hotel. Ate half the burrito. And finished the burrito almost an hour later. I'd have walked 30 minutes given how good the food was.
There was a long line to order here and so we knew we were in for a treat and we were right!! The fish tacos were the best I’ve ever had! We also ordered the carne asada tacos. Also delicious! The chips and various salsas were awesome! Those are free and were fresh! The pico was outstanding! We’d love to come back here for another meal.
