Tamarack Lodge of Traverse City - Resort hotel in Traverse City - 2035 N. U.S. 31 North, USA

I booked my reservation for Tamarack Lodge months in advance. I booked the nicest room, a corner balcony suite. When I arrived, they said all the balcony suites were filled and they only had one corner floor suite left. This room was awful. It faced the public beach access on the first floor. People kept walking by our window. There was no privacy. It did not face the beach. It was not a balcony room. It had a view of trash cans. There were no windows in the bedroom. And the worst point was the door that led outside to a small table and chair had a broken lock. The room was not secure until my husband worked for over an hour to fix the door lock.|When I asked to cancel because the room was not what I booked for $375, the front desk said I could cancel the second day but I had to pay the $375.00 for that day. |What a horrible experience. This was supposed to be the highlight of our vacation and it was NOT. Plus no coffee in the room, bring your own (there is a communal coffee station near housekeeping), there was no place to put your suitcases and the clothes closet was in the kitchen with the brooms and dust pan. You can hear sounds from the next room. Walls are thin. Beware!!!! I would look somewhere else!

My husband and I came here with our adult son traveling in a separate vehicle. Was told at check-in only one vehicle per room allowed in the main parking lot. My son had to park his car in a lot across the street with 4 lanes of traffic behind a gas station. What a joke! Especially when the main lot had at least 30 empty spaces! ||Luggage carts are lined up in the first floor hallway and just looks cluttered. Where we live this a clear violation of the fire code. Might be allowed here, but still looks tacky and unsafe. ||When we got to the room it was dirty. Stovetop had not been cleaned. Handle broke off microwave. The cupboard where pots and pans are located was wet and dirty. Yuck! Just wanted to go to bed but just as I was about to get into bed I realized I couldn’t find the bedroom remote control for the TV. Thought maybe it had fallen behind the night stand and after looking behind there I found a nasty old t-shirt that had been left there by a previous guest. Front desk couldn’t do anything about the remote (not her fault) so no TV in the bedroom till the next day. ||Not a great way to start your vacation

Got the two room suite, it was very clean and quiet at night, perfect view from the balcony and beach access with perfect weather, only minor complaint is the extremely small stand up shower that was only 3 feet across with a large showerhead that dripped.

This was an incredible value. I absolutely loved my room and the staff were so sweet. Cookies are in the lobby every night, the tub in my room was one of the best soaking tubs I've ever used, and the bed was really comfy (I have a bad back). Can't recommend enough.

The manager was very deceptive and billed me twice for a booking error. I got Expedia to cancel one of the bookings, but I wasn't told that the hotel was still charging me for both. Garrett does not return calls on a timely basis, either. I only received one bill upon checking out and didn't know I was billed for both rooms until I arrived home. Instead of a repeat customer, Tamarack has an unhappy customer.

We stayed in a two bedroom suite on the ground floor with walkout access to the lake and the terrace. We grilled our own steaks and had a lovely time! The place is absolutely gorgeous. We will be back again. The 1521 sq feet is plenty for two couples to enjoy without being crowded. The kitchen was fully stocked with all you could need.

Service and staff are horrible. Inconsiderate and won’t help with any issues that might occur during the stay. Do not recommend anyone to waste their money and have a bad experience during their vacation.

Celebrated our anniversary at the Tamarack Lodge....it was great. Right on Lake Michigan, and we had NO complaints. Room was wonderful, clean, and just right. Something that might take it to the next level: 1.) Blinds that block out more light, as some people really do use these opportunities to get some rest. It was bright in our room with not much restriction of light in the morning. 2.) Better, updated, and larger TV's throughout the room. Regardless, 5 stars! We highly recommend and will go back.
