Tamarack Lodge - Hotel in Ketchum - 291 Walnut Ave, USA

Gorgeous little lodge. Very well decorated. Comfy clean beds, fluffy pillows, and brand new amenities (coffee maker, mini fridge, etc.). 50" TV with premium cable. Patios and access to the central courtyard, which would make it super easy to walk your dogs, so its pet friendly. Courteous staff. Across the street from a charming shopping center. Not much more you could ask from a cozy lodge in an up-and-coming, newly constructed area of central Idaho.

My three star rating is purely due to the fact that the hotel does not have any pet free rooms and the price is high for a 2-star. As a fellow lover of animals but sufferer of allergies, I spent three nights congested and downing antihistamines to keep my allergies in check. I appreciate a hotel that wants to offer options for pet owners, but I don't agree that there shouldn't first be considerations for the humans that actually pay for a hotel room. Or advertise the pet only option very clearly so that others don't fall into the same conundrum as I did. Otherwise, tidy rooms, nice balcony, great location and nice hot tub.

My room at the lodge was nice enough. The bed was comfortable, the kitchenette worked well, the shower was good, although there was someone else’s hair in the shower. The biggest problem was the floors were very dirty. I went downstairs and spoke to the desk employee about the problem. She apologized and offered to move me to another room. I was there working on a challenging project and needed a quiet room, I was already settled in for my five day stay, so I did not want to move. I asked if she could adjust my bill to compensate, and the answer was a flat no. |I also pointed out a significant safety issue in the room, which she said they could do nothing about. |If you happen to stay in room 211, watch out for the brickwork below the fireplace. It’s a significant tripping hazard, and it lies between the bathroom and the bed. |So, although the room is comfortable, and I was able to get my work done, it was not clean, and it seems they are not interested in trying to make things better if there are issues.

A local advised us to check out Sun Valley. We decided to stay three nights here at the Tamarack just short of peak season. Room was clean and smelled like aromatherapy. Body wash, conditioner and body lotion were a sweet addition. Starbucks coffee (replenished at the front desk), comfortable beds and several pillows! Staff were friendly and made recommendations for places to eat. Checkout simple: leave keys in room and text that you're leaving. The price was also very affordable! We would definitely stay here again!!

I understand the going rates for Ketchum/Sun Valley in the summer are high, but we certainly could have paid the same price ($400/night) and stayed at the Best Western or elsewhere. Next time we will. This was seriously on par with Motel 6. The rooms smelled, paint was chipping, grout was missing, dents in the doors and walls, window coverings were ripped and non functional. It just felt gross. I seriously can't believe we just paid $400 per night to stay at this place. I have to say, though, the service was pretty good and the location is great for walking around town, if you can get a parking spot.

Really nice spot right in the middle of Ketchum. Our room had a wonderful view. The 2 humans and 1 doggy were very happy 😁

I absolutely love dogs, and i absolutely love that this place is dog friendly. However, it is 1:54 a.m. and there is a dog on the balcony below us that's been barking for 20 minutes now, and has woken up myself and my kids. Edit: i have edite my review due to the kind response i got from the hotel and the fact that i was fumimg when I wrote it.

What an absolute gem of a hotel! We decided to book a last minute getaway from the city and stumbled across Tamarack as a good option due to its allowance of pets. We were absolutely stunned at the room we got for the price! A beautiful suite with Mountain views and our room door was literally steps away from Sun Valley Rd. We had a cozy fireplace(logs provided by the hotel), a kitchenette, EXTREMELY comfortable bed, balcony with chairs, and a spacious living area. As for the service, Jose was amazing and treated us with so much kindness and hospitality. Everything was just so pleasant and perfect and we’ll be making this our only go to hotel whenever we visit Ketchum/Sun Valley.
