Tahoe Valley Campground - Featured Reviews (865)
I rarely write reviews and this is my only negative one on here so far. Please keep that in mind. ||||I knew it would be small, no big deal, but it was advertised as fitting 6 people. It does not. We were just 2 adults so it was fine but adding 1-2 kids is the max I would ever put in here. Be warned, the small bunk bed was located in a closet. I’m not joking.||||The fire alarm was hanging by wires from the ceiling upon entering our small cabin unit. Also there was no carbon monoxide alarm in the unit. I called the help line and Nicole and another woman (a ranger?) we’re very helpful and got us one the next day. This put us at ease. We had a wonderful trip until the last day which really soured the entire experience in Tahoe. At 11:05am on checkout day, the female custodian with the microphone-painted car (older woman, maybe 55-60) frantically knocked on the door and became immediately irritable. I said we were leaving now (our bags were obviously packed and staged). I also asked if we would get charged especially since we were making everything tidy and were leaving right then. She said we had to get out now because she needed to clean the unit, even though she had no supplies with her at the time. I apologized for being late and explained why, then she told me not to “patronize her” as she put on her headphones and walked away. When she had come to the door, I was just finishing up cleaning everything and even folding the sheets so she would not have to. She was nice to us on the first day when we got the room key, so it was upsetting when she was so dismissive on the last. Check in wasn’t even for another 4 hours and the place was deserted on a Thursday morning. I was still charged for a cleaning/late fee even when explaining this to the front desk. I have other friends who had planned to come here and one that has already booked (they were how well found out about this place). I will be telling them about this experience. ||||The last interaction was so shocking that it gave a bad feeling to a wholesome and positive experience in Tahoe. Im still thinking about it now (maybe she was having a bad day?) I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but she was just mean. I generally wouldn’t even write a review like this and I would let it go, but really, it doesn’t hurt to be polite. We will not be back.
Large clean campground in the pine trees. Great staff and service. Make it easy to check in and out. Store has lots to offer. Clean restrooms. Close to a lot of activities. And a large, clean dog park for all the happy doggies! Excellent place to stay highly recommended 👌
Location is good. Walking distance to restaurants and bars. Close to mountain for skiing. We are thousand trail members and compared to the location we stay at in Oceanside I would say this one could use work especially in the bathrooms. They’re nice and heated but messy. Soap needed refilling. The tile work wasn’t level so water from showers on the floor. No shower caddy so bring your own or have to put your shampoo on the dirty ground. Other than that - standard amenities and no free coffee like other locations.
This campsite has over 400 sites, full hookups. They have 24-hour laundry and heated bathrooms with showers that are very clean. You'll love the location, in town, but only a few miles from the Lake. They also have a swimming pool, playground, basketball court and grills...this location has it all! Keep in mind the tent sites are closed during winter but they still do allow you to car camp and tent camp but in an RV spot where it has been winterized. $50 a night. They also have a general store if you need any last-minute supplies or memorabilia.
Great location for lake tahoe and nearby attractions. Easy to commute by car. The check in/out process is simple and convenient. There is no free wifi but at the same time mobile signal is not good at all. It was like forcing us to purchase for internet.
We are a full time RV family with two younger children which affects how we rated our experience. ||My job requires fast and reliable internet access. Starlink access was nonexistent which was expected due to heavy tree coverage. We researched that Verizon has good coverage in the South Lake Tahoe area so we planned to rely on our hotspot data. Verizon service was also nonexistent (maybe one bar LTE) which meant I could not use my hotspot. Then we bought internet from the campground which was spotty and unstable so I could not use that either. I ended up having to go to the local library so I could access my hotspot. If we were vacationing, this would have been a nonissue but since we still had to work and provide homeschool, it was a major issue. If we were to return to this particular campground, we would either need to take time off or receive report that internet is more accessible. ||Now that we got that out of the way, we loved our time in South Lake Tahoe. The campground was within a 15 minute drive to anything we needed. Grocery stores, parks, hiking trails, libraries, bike trails, frisbee golf, etc… The Tahoe area is beautiful. We drove around the lake, my husband biked around the lake, we enjoyed multiple beaches, and we did a clear kayak rental. ||The campground had a nice little playground for our kids and the Activities Director was delightful. She put out things for our kids which attracted other kids over to hang out with our kids. She also gave us great tips about homeschooling which were much appreciated. The staff were always kind and helpful. The camp store was the best we had seen at a campground. They did have laundry facilities but we did not use them. We went to a laundromat because we had a large amount to do and wanted to wash our bedding. They looked clean and a wash was $2 and dry $1.50. The bathrooms were very clean, super warm, and the shower water was burning hot (in a good way.) The campground also had a nice hiking trail around the property and a dog run. They also had a pool but it was closed due to being late in the season. ||We did see a mamma bear and her two cubs walk behind our campsite and a big bear across from our campsite- two separate encounters.
Our cottage is advertised for 6 people. We were 3 adults and were wondering how 6 people can feel comfortable in this tiny cottage. There is no closet and no room to put your luggage. However the cottage is very cozy and might be a good fit for a family with small children.
Loved it here. We came when it wasn’t so busy. & the kids loved the park & heated pool! 🩷 we stayed end of sept and came back 2 weeks later in October. Pool was drained the second trip but the kids still had a great time. The trail that goes behind site 255 was perfect to walk the dogs but if we weren’t staying in one of those sites I wouldn’t have cut into someone’s site to walk it.overall great trips & fall time it wasn’t busy!

Beautiful hike to Eagle Lake that took about 30 min after the bridge. This time of year there was snow and ice on the trail that made it slippery but was worth the quick trip up and back.
The hotel is new and beautiful. The rooms were extremely clean and well stocked, even the kitchen had everything we could potentially want! The bed was super comfortable, the heated floors in the bathroom were great. (Down one star for our ground fl
The place is really nice, the water is crystal clear but very cold. It's worth it to pay the $5.00 fee to see this beautiful place. In the middle of it there's an old house, scary but beautiful.
The Mt. Tallac trail is an amazing trail to hike in Lake Tahoe. It isn't easy, about 4.5 miles from the trail head to the summit with about 3,300 feet of elevation gain. The second half of the trail is mostly all rock and is very steep in parts. The
Went with my daughter and husband and came from the heavenly line since the wait at the resort was 2 hours! They helped us right away and we were able to get all the equipment we needed in a reasonable time frame. The staff are super friendly and acc
Took this trail to go to Cascade Falls. It's flat for the first 5 mins or so and then becomes rocky and risky at the corners. There is some construction work going on in the area so they have put up temporary boards marking the trail. Good job! It
While entering the North Lake Tahoe area, the first thing you can see is Eagle falls streaming down the mountains towards Lake Tahoe. The Eagle falls originates from Eagle lake and culminates at Lake Tahoe. There is a trail to the Eagle Lake, but we
Very friendly customer service, and not to mention dog friendly, which we love. The beer is excellent and the brew master was very polite with us. I wish I had a chance to buy stickers of the brewery as I am a collector, but it just means I will have
Brunch was good. Parking was easy. Had a short wait. Chicken fried steak was a good ratio of breading to meat. Hash brown were crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Coconut French toast was a good portion. Overall everyone was happy with what they
