We stayed only one night but were happy with our stay. The room decor was a bit dated but clean. The AC took a while to cool the room down, but it got quite cold overnight. The front desk kindly made us some strong coffee in the morning, which we appreciated. One thing that made me uneasy was having to book directly with the hotel. They requested a photocopy of my driver’s license and credit card. I would have preferred booking through a travel site, but they couldn’t guarantee a room with two beds. So, I took the risk of sending the documents. Nothing suspicious has happened yet, but I’ll update this review if anything changes. One last thing that I thought t nice is that they have a little yard with a creek beside it, which would've been nice for a picnic.

My husband and I stayed here for a 3 day weekend, and we were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. Last year we stayed at a different motel in riverhead and spent more for less. The swiss motel was clean, the staff friendly and the bed was actually pretty comfortable, we chose a room with 2 doubles and it worked out great for us. You can beet the value for the price. We'll be back next year.

First of all, there were claims that it was recently renovated. Paint is in need of redoing on the exterior. As for interior, the flooring in the room seemed newer but soap residue from prior person in bathroom, dirt on floors under furniture not to mention the unidentified bug my husband killed trying to crawl into the car on our way checking out. Room smelled of bleach so attempts were made to clean it and bed was pretty comfortable. Other than that, I would recommend staying at hotel indigo down the street. It was fully booked for the wedding we were attending so we weren’t able to get a room.

A friend and I decided to check out the North Fork and Shelter Island for her birthday weekend. I'm usually more of a planner, but when trying to find a place to stay for Saturday night, most places were already booked, required a 2 night minimum stay or were out of our price range, so we decided to wing it. We had a fabulous day beach hopping and exploring and after trying about a dozen other places first, we called the Swiss Motel and they had a room available. Yay!!! or so we thought... ||||When we pulled up, it was dark, but the place didn't look horrible. We checked in. $180-something for the night and the guy in the office was annoyed that we didn't have cash. He handed us the room key and TV remote and we headed to the room. The first thing we saw upon entering was a roach running across the small counter with a dirty, unplugged microwave on top and a loud, but not cold mini-fridge below that made up the kitchenette. After looking around and checking the bed for other bugs and not seeing anything, we talked each other into staying.||||We have both stayed in a wide range of places throughout our lives from luxury to some pretty shady spots, but usually you at least get what you pay for. The room had hardwood laminate flooring which is way better than nasty old carpet, but that's where the positive ends. There were cracks and stains on the ceiling from water damage, what looked like dried blood on the filthy bathroom door, only one rough, threadbare towel (not that we dared to use the freshly spackled tub/shower), cobwebs in the corners, broken window blinds, I could go on and on, but to top it all off, the only reason that we didn't wake up mashed together in the center of the pit of what they call a bed, is because both of us barely slept because we were so grossed out!!!||||We checked out at 8:30 am to the sound of gospel music blasting from the backyard (right outside our room) and voiced our disdain to the same guy in the office as the night before and he laughed at us! When we pushed it, he said we had to talk to the manager, but the manager wasn't in until 9:30. We just wanted to get out of there, so decided not to wait and just let it go. We enjoyed the rest of the day and now that we are fairly sure we didn't bring any bugs home with us, we can laugh about it, but be warned, the Swiss Motel is way overpriced for the disgusting dump that it is!!!

I am currently staying here for the night. For what it is--a cheaper option in the middle of overpriced Long Island--it is great! The rooms are a nice hardwood, comfortable beds, and a decent bathroom/shower. It's a small place tucked away from the main road, so you don't feel like you're in some Ghetto. Simply, the price cannot be beat for the quality you get. I would stay here again.

To be frank. It’s a motel. That being said this is one of the better ones I’ve been in. We were given a ground level room on the end. Floors aren’t carpet so no worries about bugs (they’re hard vinyl). Mattresses have sanitary covers on them and sheets were clean. Little kitchenette with fridge and microwave and sink was a plus too. Furniture is older style (but it’s a motel so what do you expect) Only issue was the shower pressure was too high and made a mess of the bathroom. That was remedied by just running the water on the lowest setting. I’m not out this way often but if I had to come back East for any reason, I’d look here for my budget option.

My son, daughter and I went to the Riverhead Raceway for an evening of fun. (and it was) I was too tired to drive home so we decided to stay in Riverhead over night. I saw the Swiss Motel while driving on Rt. 25. It looked very cute. We went into the office (which was dirty) the lady said it was $180. for the night. I said I'll give you 125 and she said ok. Well I should have kept on driving. The room was small for the 3 of us. 1 bed, 1 chair, a tiny TV, a bathroom that looked like it hasn't seen a mop in years. Like I said we all were tired so we stayed. my kids took the towel from the bathroom placed it over the breadspread and that's how they were going to sleep. I went on the chair that's where I slept. I really didn't sleep. As soon as it was light out side we left. We got washed at the hospital bathroom that is around the circle. I didn't let my kids go to the bathroom at that Swiss Motel. It should be knocked down. I would never recommend that place even to a dog.

I was planning to stay here but became very ill the manager would NOT refund me my deposit the cancellation fee of 125.00 I was in the morning of my 4 day grace period. He was argumentative and rude . I’ve been in Hospitality for 25 years and always helped out a Guest if possible. With Covid going around and it was very obvious I’m Ill for him to be so unforgiving is plain heartless. Stay away from this business!!
