So here’s the deal: it’s a cool place, don’t get me wrong. I love the Suwannee River and all the activities it provides - swimming, kayakking, tubing, and just relaxing in a very peaceful place. However, you need to understand Suwannee “Springs” is very much not like other springs in this area. If you’re looking for a spring that has the characteristic beautiful blue water, you will not find that here.
Suwannee Springs has a long history, and you’ll find remnants of its past alongside the river where there is a former bath house surrounding where the spring comes out of the ground. Since it is obviously not maintained like it was back decades ago, it is very brown like the river water and not pleasant looking or smelling. Keep that in mind - if you’re looking for an actual spring to swim in, go somewhere else!
However, if you’re coming here for the river itself, of course it is great like any other spot on the river. There is ample parking, a small beach alongside the river, some walking trails, and plenty of access for you to put in your tubes or kayaks. Also, be sure to check out the bridge just down the river that’s covered in graffiti - it looks really cool and allows for great photos!
All in all, it’s a cool place, but probably not worth the drive from cities like Jacksonville or Orlando! Definitely worth going only if you’re in the area already!
Interesting location, it use to be a bath house. You can walk around the ruins and down into what was considered the bath area. It’s surprising to see how much water if flowing out of this spring. Strong smell of sulfur but the water is crystal clear. Cool place to stop and check out.
One of the first places that drew me to Suwannee county. Beautiful lovely peace by the river. Great place for kids and dogs. Nearby convenience store, pack a cooler spend the day hike trails along the river or over the enchanted bridge. Special place no matter spring summer winter or fall
Was an interesting area, love the history behind it.
I came from St. Augustine on a solo trip to explore your springs. Such a Jewel... I'm so glad I did! Can't wait to come back and explore some more.
Beautiful stop to explore the old ruins of the long gone health spa. Wear good walking shoes lots of loose rocks. When water is low, it smells like sulpher, but just near the main spring and the whole area is beautiful, well worth checking out!
Small but worth the trip for a dip in the Suwannee. It had nice little beach areas and a few trails. Porto potties no facilities. Bring mosquito spray.
Me and the family had a good time. It's a really neat place to explore there's a few hiking areas. There are some Porter potty bathrooms. The water is super dark from the cypress trees but it's still a beautiful place the water feels good there's a lot of fossils in the rock you can see in the Rock there's a lot of fossils of seashells and stuff. And the bridge is awesome just the walk to the bridge and getting on the bridge to overlook the Springs really pretty. We had a blast.
This place is a lot of fun to hang out at. Especially during Hulaween. Last year it was so hot and sunny that spent a few hours hanging out at beach everyday. It was full of people almost at much of party at the festival itself.
As we look into 1 of the historic homes of Live Oak, Florida that is now used for events and to take in the view. You will find throughout most of the year flowers, statues and gazebo including a historical plantation. It's a sight to see if your eve
Lots of storms lately so, many North Florida springs are browned out.
Orange Grove Sink at Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park is not directly connected to a river so we drove over hoping for the best. We were not disappointed! Great vis and on
A historical building with great food. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left we were impressed with the service, the atmosphere and the Food. Would most definitely recommend couples who want a nice date night to come here. 10/10
I had lunch at Robbieâs Cafe and it was spectacular, they were busy, however the waitresses were busy clearing tables, taking orders, refilling peoples drinks, bring out food, and they were still very friendly and attentive, the waitresses where wo
