Located in the center of the university area. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The portion sizes are huge. The menu has variety, but not at all overwhelming. I love this place. I will definitely return. PS love the hot house sake to wash it all down
Have been coming here with family for over 10 years. Same great quality sushi! Hamachi Kama is always amazing and portion is big enough to share. Uni from Japan which is good. Tried the chutoro which was also decent today.
When my wife and I landed in Honolulu we asked out Uber driver the best spot for sushi. She recommended Sushi King. She told us that they had big portions and were inexpensive. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted and seated. We were a bit thrown off when we noted that there was one other family there. Nevertheless we were given complimentary green tea that had a really good flavor. We flipped through the menu as if we were studying for a midterm. I noted there were some pictures on the back of the menu. I am a visual learner so this was a bonus, a cheat sheet on the back. Not seeing anything appealing, I reluctantly convinced myself to do the Hawaiian roll which was a really a rainbow roll named a Hawaiian roll. The waitress noting I didn’t really want that suggested I order a special. I was a bit put off by the ugani, but it was ugani sauce with tempura shrimp inside, with some crunch vegetable don’t recall name haven’t heard of it before. The top had maguro, ugani sauce sirache and green onions. My wife ordered the volcano roll that had inside: tempura shrimp, cucumber. Outside:spicy tuna green onions and a spicy sauce. We also ordered a side of Garlic edamame. The edamame came out first and promptly. It was amazing they had great texture. The were cooked to perfection not soggy or too crunchy. I assumed it was going to be covered in garlic however it slightly drizzled with a garlic sauce that had a sweet taste but not to sweet taste to it. The rolls came out right in time. The combination of flavors complimented the others. The fish was bursting with flavor. The color was bright red and tasted very fresh. I was thrown of by the veggie inside it was a bit crunchier than I expected and couldn’t get over it. The flavor was nice maybe a bit thick. The tempura was crunchy and fluffy the shrimp moist and cooked just right. The portions were plenty and I left very satisfied. I did get a taste of the wife’s and that was rich with flavor. All and all a great experience.
Sushi 🍣 tasted great and fresh enough Feels too lonely to dine in at the hall. Customer service can be improved
I have to say, the food I had was great. I ordered the Ahi Katsu on Curry Rice. You may be asking what the reason was for only a two star rating, since I enjoyed the food and the customer service was decent. It would be because of the cleanliness. There were bugs inside the restaurant crawling all over the ground and tables, as you can see from the attached pictures. I am pretty sure this is not the norm, but improvements should be made.
Sushi King! Very friendly staff, fast service...no complaints. This is a solid late night sushi place. It has a Great Sake selection, and went from a 4 star to a 5 star when I discovered the late night happy hour begins at 9pm to close. The back side of the menus lists the available discount food and drink specials until late.
AMAZING. Love this place, family environment excellent service and food was top notch. Will be back next time I’m in Hawaii!!
Great food, relaxed atmosphere, always a great way to end the night. I typically get a combination plate, but their ala carte menu is wonderful - I particularly like the bacon-wrapped enoki mushrooms!

Stopped in here for the highest rated sushi around. I was happy that I did!! This place was great! We ordered 5 rolls and they were all really good. Rainbow roll, Hawaiian roll, Spider roll, spicy Tuna roll and Volcano roll. All were great. The
This is a must for breakfast. I always order the salmon and roe musubi. I know everyone comes here for the spam but these triangle goodness is the best. The line does get quite long as sometimes it takes 25-35 mins to get your food. But you know it w
A great blend of traditional and hip, serving a really unique menu of Japanese delicacies. Suggest the mac nut tofu and their signature rekkon cheese (Japanese style mini pizza) appetizers to start. The sushi selection is of highest quality. Save ro
Hands down best sushi in Hawaii. Gaku was recommended to us by our scuba diving instructor who is a Japanese sushi chef before moving to Hawaii. Every piece of sushi is prepared so delicately and skillfully. Each cut of the fish is so precise and fin
Came here to try their new Uni Special Course dinner. We were happy to taste all the different dishes that were well prepared and the serving size was perfect.
I was very impressed with Gyotaku. To start, the salad was a really delicious surprise with a much appreciated imitation crab piece. For the entree, the steak was perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. It came with tempura as a combo, which was a fan
They renovated not so long ago. The space is even bigger and not overwhelming like the old space. The interior made me feel like home and very refreshing. The food is still as fresh and tasty ever since. Aunty gave me a fresh banana (so kind and frie
Worth the visit! The fruit punch was delicious and we loved the crispy pork gyoza. The tonpeiyaki (pork omelette) was also awesome. It was also entertaining to watch the chef cook it in front of us and have him immediately serve our food hot. Beca
You know its a good Japanese restaurant when most of the patrons are Japanese speakers. The price is decent and this place satisfy my ikura/uni cravings. Most of the meals comes with both a rice and soba combo. Also, this is the first time I tried
Shoot was - as expected - amazing. Stunning mastery of technique, patter, and showmanship. Hilarious sense of humour, was great at working the crowd and had a lot of warmth and heart incorporated into his performance, and the story he told throughout
I have been searching and searching for great biscuits and gravy like I used to get back in Texas, and OMG these were so so so so much better than that. Did something different and went with the chicken biscuits and gravy and was happily surprised at
Ono, soo ono. If you enjoy the taste and feel of each bite in your mouth, this is the place for local, healthy, ono eats. Fresh every single time. This is the first time in my life that I have eaten at one restaurant three (3) times IN THE FIRST WEEK
