Hands down best sushi in Hawaii. Gaku was recommended to us by our scuba diving instructor who is a Japanese sushi chef before moving to Hawaii. Every piece of sushi is prepared so delicately and skillfully. Each cut of the fish is so precise and fine. Also must mention that the spicy tartar is extremely creamy flavorful and yet refreshing. Just overall an amazing experience. Definitely best sushi in Hawaii
I wanted to reach out and share my experience at Sushi Izakaya, a hidden gem located on King Street. While parking may be a bit difficult in the area, I assure you that the food at this establishment is absolutely amazing. During my visit, I had the opportunity to try several dishes that I highly recommend. Firstly, the Hamachi kama, a grilled yellowtail collar, was a true highlight. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the fish was cooked to perfection. Additionally, the spicy Tuna rolls were exceptionally delicious, with just the right amount of kick to tantalize the taste buds. Lastly, the grilled fish option on the menu was delectable and left me craving for more. After such a delightful dining experience, I have no doubt that I will be returning to Sushi Izakaya again in the future. The quality of the sushi and the overall level of deliciousness exceeded my expectations. It's highly recommended to reserve ahead of time.
Great sushi spot! Very good fish, and the small dishes are nice. The dishes do come out randomly however, we got the daikon pickles like halfway through instead of first
We have been wanting to come here for a long time. The food is delicious, and the sushimi melts in your mouth. We sat at the sushi bar and really enjoyed interacting with the chefs. The server was friendly and had great suggestions for drinks and food. We loved the experience and look forward to our next visit.
AMAZING! great atmosphere and service but even better food. Had the spicy tuna roll, pork/ shrimp dumpling, fried pumpkin, and veggies
They serve the food very fast. Order the dishes separately and not all at once. I recommend the 9 pc sashimi & o toro nigiri!
This was the best omasake we’ve ever had. The fish was so fresh and straight out of Japan. My husband doesn’t like sushi or sashimi but he enjoyed this experience very much. He said everything tasted amazing and he ate everything. That’s huge for him. Thank you so much to our chef too. He was so wonderful and catered to our likings. We came with our friends and were able to sit together by the bar. The reservation was made a couple weeks prior for the dinner. Highly recommend this. There is a small parking lot in the back that can fit about 6-8 cars. Or plenty of street parking too.
The fish here was the best fresh fish I’ve probably Ever had! The environment is super friendly and chill. Everyone here greets you and says bye to you. The chefs are all great. The sashimi we had was great! We had to come here twice because we enjoyed it so much.

This is a must for breakfast. I always order the salmon and roe musubi. I know everyone comes here for the spam but these triangle goodness is the best. The line does get quite long as sometimes it takes 25-35 mins to get your food. But you know it w
A great blend of traditional and hip, serving a really unique menu of Japanese delicacies. Suggest the mac nut tofu and their signature rekkon cheese (Japanese style mini pizza) appetizers to start. The sushi selection is of highest quality. Save ro
Located in the center of the university area. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The portion sizes are huge. The menu has variety, but not at all overwhelming. I love this place. I will definitely return. PS love the hot house sake to wa
I was very impressed with Gyotaku. To start, the salad was a really delicious surprise with a much appreciated imitation crab piece. For the entree, the steak was perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. It came with tempura as a combo, which was a fan
They renovated not so long ago. The space is even bigger and not overwhelming like the old space. The interior made me feel like home and very refreshing. The food is still as fresh and tasty ever since. Aunty gave me a fresh banana (so kind and frie
Worth the visit! The fruit punch was delicious and we loved the crispy pork gyoza. The tonpeiyaki (pork omelette) was also awesome. It was also entertaining to watch the chef cook it in front of us and have him immediately serve our food hot. Beca
You know its a good Japanese restaurant when most of the patrons are Japanese speakers. The price is decent and this place satisfy my ikura/uni cravings. Most of the meals comes with both a rice and soba combo. Also, this is the first time I tried
Came here to try their new Uni Special Course dinner. We were happy to taste all the different dishes that were well prepared and the serving size was perfect.
Shoot was - as expected - amazing. Stunning mastery of technique, patter, and showmanship. Hilarious sense of humour, was great at working the crowd and had a lot of warmth and heart incorporated into his performance, and the story he told throughout
I have been searching and searching for great biscuits and gravy like I used to get back in Texas, and OMG these were so so so so much better than that. Did something different and went with the chicken biscuits and gravy and was happily surprised at
Ono, soo ono. If you enjoy the taste and feel of each bite in your mouth, this is the place for local, healthy, ono eats. Fresh every single time. This is the first time in my life that I have eaten at one restaurant three (3) times IN THE FIRST WEEK
