Surfhouse Boutique Hotel - Hotel in Encinitas - 960 N Coast Hwy 101, USA

Just stayed here for a few days with a friend and absolutely loved it!!! The room was clean, the perfect size for 2 people, and we had everything we needed. This is an amazing spot- the beach is a short walk up the street and there are a ton of great places to eat within very short walking distance. The hotel is just as nice as pictured on the website. We felt very comfortable walking around the surrounding area. I would recommend to anyone looking for a chill, comfortable place to stay with a short drive to many other great San Diego locations.

I've stayed three times this year while in Encinitas for work. I travel a lot for work and often stay at five star hotels. I've stayed at the best the North Counties have to offer, and this is my favorite. Absolutely love Surfhouse! Aesthetically and functionally. Here's my criteria in order of importance:||Ease of access - no keys or cards - just a code to get into the room, emailed to you, along with a well composed information. No check-in or check-out. ||Location - great restaurants, all walking distance. Coffee Coffee cafe *right* across the street! Surf is also walking distance. ||Room - clean and spacious. Large walk-in shower. AppleTV on a large TV. Comfortable bed with very cozy bedding. ||Staff - I've had very little need to contact the staff (only once for an additional night) and they were competent and polite. ||The only thing to disclose is that the train tracks are across the street. The rooms have good soundproofing, the trains don't run all night, plus the rooms have earplugs for people who may be more sensitive to sound. Even in the best hotels I bring, and often use, earplugs anyway. ||I couldn't recommend Surfhouse more.

Clean, convenient and friendly - what more could you want! If you’re looking to surf the Leucadia/Encinitas area, look no further than the Surfhouse for your home base. Nikki was a fabulous surf guide, the hotel was the perfect location and Coffee Coffe has your back with pre-and-post surf drinks and food. Surfhouse was the perfect SoCal spot to house my 15 yr old and me for our mother/daughter trip.

What’s not to love about the Surfhouse? The location is great! So close to restaurants and coffee shops. Took 3 teen age girls and our room had 4 bunk beds and one bath. It suited our needs perfectly. The beds were crazy comfortable. Clean and decorated so cute with serene colors of sea foam green and white. Safe neighborhood too. We were just passing thru this time but will definitely schedule a few days at the Surfhouse next time I come thru!! Easy check in and out. Thanks guys for an awesome stay.

Great experience! Perfect for someone who's a party of 1 or 2, looking to go surfing for the day at the 4 local beaches. It's definitely on the quiet side of the Encinitas stretch. If you want to be out of the way, quiet, lights out at 10:00 p.m. kind of vibe, this might be the hotel for you. I would say Room 1 is the biggest, at least as far as I could tell. It definitely has a lot of space for lots of luggage, your surfboards, Etc if you're carrying a lot of stuff. There is a Murphy bed inside of this room, with a 5 inch thick or so mattress. It's about half the thickness of say a normal mattress. The mattress was still comfortable. No complaints. What I also like about Room 1 is that you do get a sink, kind of like a kitchenette. But there's no stove or anything. It's just a lot of countertop space in case you want to bring lots of stuff on your trip, or planning on sitting up some kind of buffet of food. Inside of Room 1 there is a small table that you can move around the room however you like. And then if memory serves me correctly, there are two chairs as well should you decide to sit at that table, and have lunch or dinner or breakfast or whatever. The benefit of Room 1 as well is that right outside of your door, there is a patio area with a long table, and about 8 high chairs. So if you're looking for a place to eat, and you're in any of the other rooms, and feel like you're too cramped to have a meal inside of your room, you can always enjoy this outdoor patio towards the front of the hotel. Room 2, is smaller, by I'd say maybe 30%. There's no table in here. You do get one chair, and a small little table top counter where the refrigerator is inside of. There is a queen size bed in Room 2, a mattress of plush thickness. Plenty of pillows, two main pillows for each side, and then also about three throw pillows as well. Each room gets one parking pass, for a space right outside your door pretty much. You'll notice that in the mornings, people may Park here who are going across the street to the coffee place. So it's important to hang your parking pass inside of your vehicle, to mark your territory and to prove that you are a guest of the hotel. I do like the discounts that you get from staying at this hotel, which are used at some of the local spots. For instance, the coffee bar right across the street gives you something like a 10% off discount. Just mention that you're a guest of the hotel, and show them your email with your room reservation. All in all, for the price that you're paying, and the convenience of being so close to Encinitas and all the action, and being that close to walking distance of the beaches to go surfing at, I feel like you're getting a good deal. This hotel is more like an Inn, and has that feel to it. Don't expect anything fancy like room service, or daily laundry service or anything like that. I'm sure you can request it. But this really is just a roof over your head to sleep between catching those beautiful waves. It's definitely clean, and the management is good at upkeep, and making everything feel like you're at a surf house, literally. For our specific needs on this specific trip, this hotel served us quite nicely. The management is easy to get a hold of, the entry to the rooms is pretty simple, and our overall stay was very enjoyable. If you want to be out of the way of the hustle and bustle of downtown Encinitas, this is a great choice. The flip side though is that it is A bit of a trudge by walk though if you're looking for the downtown Encinitas action. Yet again though, the burrito place about a half a block down from this hotel is exceptionally delicious. There's a 7-Eleven within about 2 football fields walk on the other side of the train tracks if you need some last minute things that you forgot to pack. If you do want a bigger shopping center with a Target, Ross, and some chain-like restaurants, you'll have to go about two and a half miles inland.

We absolutely loved our stay here… I truly can’t imagine a better place to stay in Encinitas. You’re so close to the beach and so many amazing restaurants, and the coffee shop right next door was our very favorite. The bikes were an amazing touch — we rode them everyday & had so much fun exploring the town. 10/10!

Outrageously expensive for what you get. This is a Motel, not a 'boutique hotel'. You can hear every room around you, and the traffic from PCH just outside your door. Beds are cheap and rooms feel cold in design. Location is ok, but thats kind of irrelevant as anywhere along the San Diego coastline has great surf and things to do.

Great stay at the Surfhouse! Room was super clean & comfy, great coffee shop, restaurants, wine & beer place close by. Look forward to another stay!
