The front desk was polite and welcoming. But the first thing I checked for when I stepped into the room was the bed for bedbugs… nothing there which is GOOD NEWS. But what I noticed was the sheets weren’t clean at all…. That’s nasty and gross. But I didn’t want to bother the front desk about it and give them a hard time. The floor that was non smoking smelled like smoking the whole time… it felt like nothing was cleaned properly.

We had a rough check in. No fault of the hotel. The guest before us paid hide and seek with small trash items. Nothing I would have noticed without my bed bug light. I can positively say there are 12 rooms we were in that had no bed bugs. It was a family funeral. No one else's rooms had anything wrong. It was a nice stay. Staff and owner are excellent. Will be back

Positive: It appeared cleanish. The mattress was somewhat comfortable. Negative: The whole non-smoking floor smelled like cigarettes in the room and hallways. Our AC spit water out on to our bed. The floor was sticky and smelled like mildew. The breakfast was very basic.

I went outside with the dog. There were 2 men looking in the parked car and flashlight. I didn't say anything to them. I'm a 77 year old lady. Not looking for trouble.

The most important thing i look for in a room is a comfortable bed and I am pleased with this one. Not too hard or too soft. I also look to see if the floors are clean enough for my bare feet and I'm pleased with it as well! It's carpet and feels good on my feet. The air in the room is nice to. We've stayed at alot of places that feels real humid, but we got lucky this time! It is cool and dry. All in all, the room is clean and comfortable, however, sometimes there are downsides. I have two problems: we are non-smokers and got a non-smoking room. Unfortunately, the smell from the smoking rooms next door seep in, but it's not too awfully strong. I guess I can deal with it considering we're only staying one night. The other issue was the shower. There was weak water pressure and the shower head would just shut off after a few minutes. Also, the knob on it is backwards. The cold direction is hot and vice versa. *Edited to add this photo. I made the review last night and didn't find the dried blood on the bathroom floor until this morning. I now rate with 2 stars. Room- 126

Staff was great and helpful, a pleasure to talk to. The hotel was just $62 for the night, and I was just passing through on my way south. Sure, i could have driven a little further and paid a bit more for a nicer place, but where's the adventure and fun in that? Look, Im familiar with the area, so when booking my stay, i knew it wasn't going to be the Ritz Carlton. I just needed a place to lay my head for the night, and sleeping in my vehicle was not going to work in the summer heat. I checked in, got my key card, went to my room, and it didn't work, and it also sounded like the tv was on. I went to the front desk she came to check it out, and sure enough someone was in there, which is hilarious because when I booked it I had a funny thought of that happening and then that actually did happen! But hey, no worries, this hotel is not one of those places that are going to be full, trust me...well unless the state got some federal funding to house some folks in need temporarily, but this is America that doesnt happen often. So they quickly gave me another room and apologized for the mixup (the guy that was there apparently needed to extend his stay, so whatever, who cares?) Well, unfortunately, i had asked for nonsmoking and was put in a smoking room, but i doubt it makes a difference at this hotel 😆 trust me, I am pretty sure every room has been smoked in and has the distinct smell of an ashtray. So my room was pretty dated, but i felt like there should have been a few more stains on the stucco ceiling, however the yellow tint on the walls and the smell of old cigarettes reminded me of my parents house back home so I delt with it. The toilet seat was broken and could be taken right off, but with a proper squat i could sit on it without it sliding off to take my morning poop and at least it was clean. The freezer had a lot of frost built up in it where a previous guest must have left it open, and no one bothered to defrost it and I would not close. Oh well, who needs a freezer anyway? The best part of my room that really added that special character it needed for my stay, was the broken door trim where the chain was attached (yeah, like that's going to work) indicating that someone had clearly broken into this room, which made me think of what crimes may have occurred here. Perhaps someone overstayed, and the cops broke in to haul them away. Or maybe something more sinister happened. I looked for clues, perhaps a dark stain on the floor, but the lighting was too dim to tell the difference between a blood stain and a coffee spill. Whatever the reason, it was extra thrilling that it was the door leading to the outside that displayed these signs of criminal activity. The door leading to the inside hallway wouldnt close after I opened it because it was loose on its hinges so to close it, I had to lift it up and straighten it and then push it closed in one smooth motion. All I could do was laugh. The bed was clean and fairly comfortable and apparently free of bedbugs, and after I secured the dead bolts and pushed a table in front of the door leading to the outside, I slipped into it and had a great night's sleep knowing I saved at least $20 and had a good laugh sending pics to my friend back home who was cracking up at me being such a cheapskate. It was a quiet night, no loud noises and no break-ins, and my vehicle was still where I left it in the morning. All-in-all, it was a fine stay, and I've been in far worse places, but would I recommend it? No, I couldn't in good conscious recommend it to just anyone and I probably won't ever stay again but I'll always cherish my one night stay at this little seedy hotel.

Positive: The breakfast was OK. They had eggs, but the only fruit was un-ripened apples Negative: No problems per se. When I checked in there was a morbidly obese man behind the counter who was not the clerk, but he was watching the TV in the lobby and had the volume high so he could hear it - so could anyone in the first 3 rooms. Negative: ""

The room was spotless and fitted out with a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker (with coffee), large flat-screen TV, free wifi. Continental breakfast included 2 juices, coffee, toast, honeybuns, fruit, yogurt, waffles. Staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent value!

This is a stopover for us on way to TX Gulf Coast. Very clean restrooms, hot showers, reasonably priced, & friendly staff make this an easy choice. Add to this the Lambert's Restaurant (the home of "throwed rolls") & it's a great way to start our win
