Super 8 by Wyndham Petersburg - Hotel in Petersburg - 3138 S Crater Rd, USA

The room was very clean and the bed was more than comfortable. The hard boiled eggs they served as a breakfast item during our stay were perfect! They seemed to be freshly made and not rubbery. Greatly enjoyed our stay and will stay again. Staff was excellent too!

First impression, not so bad. Then I saw the plastic shopping bag wrapped around the smoke detector, cigarette holes in the blankets, stains on the sheets and mattress cover, broken toilet seat, body hair in the shower, mold on the shower curtain, and finally the shower head barely works. Update: I requested a refund through Expedia (site it was booked), they contacted the Super 8 and the manager refused to refund. Whelp hope that little bit of money was worth it, we will not be back, and I will recommend anyone to pass it by. There's a sleep inn not far from there for about $50 more, take the advise and stay there.

This place was booked through Booking.com I arrived and a lady was in the lobby saying she was calling the police. I asked her what was going on and she told me she booked in and went to her room and it was filthy. She showed me pictures of her room. The hotel was not going to refund her money until she called the police. After seeing her pictures I demanded to see my room before checking in. I went up to see the room and it was absolutely nasty! Some kind of mold on the couch in the room and ottoman. The ironing board was hanging on the wall and it had some kind of crusted brown stuff on it. The sinks and bathtub had hair in them. I immediately went back to the office and demanded my ID back. I told them I would not be checking in so I was stuck short notice trying to find a place. I live 6hrs away. I found a Holiday Inn Express and told them my story as well as showing them the pictures of the room. They gladly gave me a discount but it was still much more than the Super 8. Stay away from this place, spend a little more money for a nicer place if you can.

***BED BUGS*** Please be advised that this hotel does have bed bugs and WILL NOT provide you with any type of reimbursement unless you are "bitten". According to the manager my elderly mother nor I, were "bitten" and this was not a reasonable reason to provide me with a refund or even 50% of money back. Furthermore, I explained to the manager I was not sure if my mother was bitten or not! I guess the inconvenience of finding the bed bug at nearly 2am in the morning (the manager even came and saw, and killed it with a napkin) and having to change rooms was not "reasonable" enough to provide us with a reimbursement. What is more concerning, is I wonder if the elderly I saw there that must reside daily, if they are aware of this bed bug infestation. I was also informed by one of their cleaning staff members, that the bed bug infestation occurs often on the bottom floor. Again, another sign that management is not addressing this matter appropriately. If management was not willing to ethically address a simple matter as reimbursement for finding bed bugs in the middle of the night and having to change rooms, I can only imagine how they are handling the situation on a daily basis. Please avoid this place at all costs!!!!!

Bed bugs are real. Last year around the same time we were there and we had no problem. This year we stay there last night and we could not sleep because there is bugs in the bed that were biting us all night. The room seems clean, but overpowering air freshener smell maybe to cover up a gross smell . The bedding had cigarette burns. Don’t even count on breakfast. Overall dirty and overpriced.

Let’s start off with saying the rooms are actually nice,, if they were being taken care of. The lay out is very spacious. I stayed in a king bed single person room. There was nasty writing inside the drawer of the desk. All the mirrors were nasty like they weren’t even cleaned or wiped down. The floor was nasty like it hadn’t been swept or mopped. The leather on the foot rest of the chair has clumps of dirt on it. The chair itself has stains all over it. The bed wasn’t even made correctly. The main cover was just laying over the chair and the blanket that was on the bed had stains and burn holes in it. ( supposed to be all non smoking rooms). The exhaust fan in the bathroom was clumped with dust and dirt. The main outlet socket for the tv was hanging out the wall. Very dangerous, that could cause a fire! When the sink ran it just ran all over the floor. I connected the pieces back together and it just kept over flowing like it was clogged. Trash and dirt inside the drawers. I had to reattach what could be covered off the curtain hanging on the window so it would close or it would stay half open. The fridge has pieces that were coming apart and was filthy along with the microwave. Hand prints and dirt all over the door. Nasty stuff stuck on the tv like it wasn’t even wiped off. Some of the bulbs in the lamp were smart bulbs so they would just keep blinking on and off. Downloaded the app for the bulbs and it wouldn’t even work because the internet wouldn’t stay connected. The wifi would just go out and say there’s no connection after I accepted the terms of super 8 and it allowed me to join. The key never worked for the room. I’d take it to the office and it took several trips back and forth for it to finally work. The house keepers were perfect and gave me everything I needed everyday but don’t think they know how to actually clean a motel room. Bare minimum cleaning done. Annoying, that they would still knock or try to come in while I was sleeping with the do not disturb sign on the handle. Lady walked in on me naked coming out the shower one morning. While the sign was hanging. The people in the office, a husband and wife along with several little kids running around. We’re very nice and understand,, except the husband. Very rude, cursing, calling my room at 6am because he tried to run my card without permission , when check out is at 10am. doesn’t speak English enough to understand what he’s even saying to you. I heard him bothering other tenants very early in the morning as well. When I told them about the problems in the room, he told me I could get out! I’ve stayed there over 2 months because it’s within walking distance of both my jobs and was currently out of a vehicle. Even with the issues I was willing to stay for convenience but nothing about the people running the place made it comfortable or even willing to hear what I had to say. It was all around disrespectful and awful he was treating me that way. I cleaned the room myself and left it in better standing then it was when I came, and while I’ve been gone, they are still trying to charge my card random amounts of $50-$200. They do not offer weekly, monthly, or even allow you to pay for more than 6 days at a time. When you are paying for the room, they act like they can’t even understand what they are doing on their side. I was printed out a receipt that was marked thru and my information filled in because he said he didn’t know how to give me the proper receipt off the computer. And if you go to the office. You have to wait a decent amount of time before anyone even comes to the desk. There’s an alarm on the door when you come in and there’s a bell at the desk I’d ring and still had to wait like no one was there. It was allot of money I’ve spent there and I never once deserved how I was treated or what I had to deal with and had to clean my own room!

The guy who checked us in was rude, told us we couldn't eat in the beds. Where else should we have eatin? On the floor with the used gross eyelashes that were left there? The bathtub had hair sitting in the drain and there were holes in the blankets. Check out was 11am but housekeeping banged on our door at 9:45am. Would not stay again.

The room smells ex like cigarettes even though I paid for a non smoking room. There were also cigarette butts by the side table. The bathroom’s shower curtain was dirty with molds
