Super 8 by Wyndham North Bergen NJ/NYC Area - Hotel in North Bergen - 2800 Columbia Ave, USA

Il y avait une odeur d’urine en permanence dans la chambre. Les draps et les serviettes n’étaient pas très propres, on se faisait réveiller la nuit par des bruits de camions ou d’autobus qui reculaient. Il n’y avait pas de choix pour le déjeuner et nous devions rester debout pour manger. Dans l’ensemble, le motel manque d’amour. Pour le prix que nous avons payé, je m’attendais à mieux que cela, surtout que nous n’étions pas sur l’île de Manhattan.

Location is quite good. Affordable but they do charge $100 as deposit at the time of check in which they did not mention on the website. The amount is refundable. People at the front desk are not so friendly. Not even bothered to address the issues. It's difficult to enter the room or going out of the room as no proper way. Parking lot is just in front of the rooms. I have stayed in Super 8 motels at different locations. But this was not as expected. Room was neat but not so clean, No proper blankets, very low Internet service with frequent disruptions. Complementary breakfast is just the bagels butter and honey, coffee and the juice. No seating arrangements for having the breakfast. Reception,lobby and breakfast area all are in a small room.

We stayed on the weekend of august 17, 2024. We wanted to visit New York at an affordable price and this place did not disappoint on price and location and easiness to travel to and from the Port Authority bus terminal in New York. There is a public shuttle bus that you can catch in front of the hotel that only costs 3.50 per person and on the way back to the hotel you can get one from the Port Authority bus terminal that will drop you off next to the Aldi which is only about a block away from hotel right up the hill, we would go back to the hotel after midnight and never felt unsafe. The breakfast is only coffee and juice and bagels with cream cheese or butter but since the Aldi is right next door for 5 dollars we bought a box of frozen breakfast croissants and that solved the breakfast problem for us. our room was located on the second floor of the adjacent building and it was very clean, the beds were confortable for a good night rest and overall i think we got our money worth. Safe, good location, budget friendly and we did get the 100 dollats deposit refunded to our card about 4 days after we checked out.

Super emplacement à 15 minutes de Times Square (selon le trafic), service de navette aux 10-15 minutes (ça brasse par exemple, je ne conseille pas aux gens qui ont le mal des transports). Il faut s'attendre à du bruit pendant la nuit. Oui, c'est près de Manhattan, mais il faut accepter que c'est mouvementé dans ce coin-là. Si vous avez le sommeil léger, pensez à vous apporter des bouchons. L'air climatisé faisait du bruit aussi, mais à mon avis c'était bien pour camoufler un peu les bruits extérieurs. Avec la chaleur du mois d'août, j'étais bien contente d'avoir la climatisation, peu importe le bruit. À 3-4 minutes de marche, il y a un Starbucks et une petite épicerie qui propose d'excellents prix. Nous allions y acheter des céréales et des petits yogourts pour déjeuner (À mini prix). Avec mon café du Starbucks, c'était parfait. Nous n'avons pas essayé les déjeuners de l'hôtel, nous nous levions trop tard et de toute manière l'épicerie à côté a fait la job. Souvent, l'esthétisme de ma chambre quand je fais ce type de voyage n'est pas très important puisque j'y passe très peu de temps. Ce qui l'est, c'est la propreté des lieux. Est-ce que les chambres sont vieilles? Oui. Est-ce que c'est beau? Pas comme les hôtels plus chers... Est-ce que c'est propre? Ça oui! J'ai bien examiné la chambre et il n'y a aucune poussière nulle part, même aux endroits qu'on ne vérifie pas généralement. Le personnel d'entretien fait de l'excellent travail. Ça sentait bon, pas parce qu'ils mettent du "Febreze", mais parce que c'est propre! Les serviettes étaient immaculées et on nous les a changées chaque jour, mais elles sont minuscules! Avoir su, j'aurais apporté les miennes. J'y retournerais sans hésiter, car les prix sont excellents.

EDIT. Downgrading the review to 1 star as I experienced an issue with the refund of the deposit, and the hotel associates were rude and unresponsive, I had to raise a complaint with Wyndham customer service. Funds were eventually received. The hotel is OK, within its concept. Actually there are a few good things about it, including free parking and a cheap shuttle bus to Times Square. The rooms are very basic and old, but I would not say they are dirty. Overall you get what you pay for, the hotel is in an ugly part of town near an extremely noisy highway, there is lots of trash on the street, and the ride back was really uncomfortable, we had to wait 45 minutes in a huge crowd at the Port Authority bus terminal and walk back to the hotel for 10 minutes in an area which looked very unsafe at night. For us it did not feel like a vacation at all and we disliked the whole experience so much that we left early losing one night that we paid for.

A SAFETY HAZARD FOR SINGLE WOMEN. Women!!! avoid this Super 8 entirely for it's not safe. A man had a SLIDE-IN, PROGRAMMED KEY CARD TO MY ROOM and attempted to get in AT 2 A.M. the 2nd night I was there. Had I not had the Hotel Swing Bar latch on, my life would have been in danger!! When I reported this to a staff member when I as checking out hours later, his only response was "HOW WILD!" He did not even inquire into my mental/emotional well-being for that was his only response. ||||Second: I was placed on the 1st floor adjacent to the parking lot ... a la "motels." I never saw these pictures. Instead, the posted pictures of this Super8 suggests that guests only can access their rooms from the inside only ... and not on a ground level that anyone could attempt to access from the outside. Had I known that guests or anyone walking by could access my room from outdoors, I would never have stayed here. Gross mis-representation on the internet.||||Third: The remote control was extremely dirty and sticky! When I placed it on the bedspread, it left a black imprint. It hadn't been cleaned in God knows how long! Fortunately, I had rubbing alcohol with me. It was filthy!||||Fourth: My second night, I requested a wake-up call. It never came. ||||Fifth: Breakfast is merely a bagel/cream cheese/butter, and coffee. Don't recall seeing any juice, tea, cold cereal, yogurt, fruit cups, etc. Why not write it's just a bagel?! Instead, they write that "breakfast is included."||||Otherwise, the room was clean, furnishings were old, and there were toiletries if you needed them in the bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, cleansing gel). Also a microwave and a fridge. Starbucks (drive thru) was behind the hotel. There's a strip mall towards Kennedy Blvd. Transportation is plentiful (either for $3.50 on the small, independent vans, or $1.55 via the NJ Transit), if like me, you don't have a car. Hotel is in a isolated area too ... another safety concern although I made it back from a Broadway show without incident.

Super emplacement pour se rendre à New York à moindre coût. Le service de navette est facilement accessible. Ne vous attendez pas à un grand hôtel. C'est acceptable pour le prix. Je le recommande si vous cherchez à faire des économies et en avoir plus dans vos poches pour faire des activités .

Staff was friendly and helpful. Price was not terrible for the area. Slightly frustrating they charged $35 to get into the room that was already ready two hours early. Access was a bit tough from the highway. However, shuttle to New York was right at the front door.
