Super 8 by Wyndham Lynchburg VA - Hotel in Lynchburg - 3736 Candlers Mountain Rd, USA

This place is a dump. Dirty bedding, holes in the bathroom door and walls, not enough towels or bed linens. The exhaust fan didn't work. The smoke detector was pulled off the ceiling. There was no trash can. The whole place smelled so bad it made my nose and eyes burn. There was no iron or blow dryer but spots to hang them. The breakfast was sad. No cream for the coffee, stale cereal, no cups for the juice. The only thing decent was the waffle maker. Worst hotel I've stayed in for a long time. Definitely not worth the $$.

Personally I would not recommend this place for rest or vacation in general. The service in general is very poor and lacks training and needs inspiration and a lot of dedication to customer service. The cleanliness in this place is below American, Central American and South American standards. The poor understanding of cleaning is at the level of Bombay, India or Pakistan. The oxygen that is breathed is awful, greasy and humid. The carpets feel greasy, humid and dirty throughout the building. The clothing of the workers does not exist and some of them smell awful, they need better personal hygiene. The attitude of the staff in general is far below national standards. (I emphasize this is not Bobai, India). The entrances are very hidden and there is no signage to guide the client to the reception. The reception does not represent a friendly reception to the client, (it is not at the level of American hotels). The breakfast is poor and very unhygienic. There is no one to clean the tables or replan everything. I emphasize that the customer service is poor (they don't help you or provide you with anything) The televisions don't work and there is no cable signal. I had a terrible experience and on top of that they charged me a lot for that bad experience.

Staying here was NOT the best experience. For $200+ for ONE night, this should have really only been $50 for one night. The pics I've shared...well they explain it all. It literally looked like a frat party was had in the room and nothing was cleaned, nothing was replaced, nothing was done to it once the people before me checked out. I had to end up asking for another room and although the new room wasn't filthy, there was no cable box, no iron, no wheel in the microwave to turn the food...never again. The cushions were missing their coverings. It smelled like a smokers room for sure and I dont smoke. It was so much to complain about when I walked in but I was running late for a graduation which is the only reason I got the room. Id driven over 3 hrs for this graduation and knew I didnt have it in me to drive right back. Once I got back from the graduation I went and asked for another room. I definitely did NOT get what I paid for. This was a huge disappointment! I slept with all of my clothes on and my foot booties, because I just didn't feel comfortable. I will say that the only good take away from this experience was that the front desk customer service was excellent from check-in, to switching my room, to checking out. I just wish the rooms were something to brag about.

The room was not clean. Dirty socks, food wrappers under the bed from previous occupants. Asked for clean linens and had to put them on ourselves. The entire first floor smelled of weed. And there were several ladies of the night that frequent this hotel. Something to keep in mind if you have children. However the location is very convenient and only a short drive from stores and restaurants. You certainly get what you pay for

The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that it was walking distance to Liberty University and that’s the reason we were there was for my daughter graduation. We got there and checked in and got in our rooms, there were no blankets or bedspreads on the beds. Went and ask for some she told me she would round some up?? The elevators were out of order, the vending machines were out of order, the whole place smelled musky and like smoke. The bathroom lighting was horrible you could barely see in there, they only had 2 towels and washcloths in the bathroom and my reservations specifically had 3 people staying in the room. That night I asked for more towels and wash cloths they told me they would have to wash some and they would bring them up to us, that never happened. I called the next morning to asked for them again and was told they would have to wash some and it would take about an hour. The air conditioning unit was held up by duct tape. The tv wouldn’t work and wouldn’t connect to internet, I called and asked for help at front desk and was told they don’t know how to fix it. So no tv whatsoever the whole stay. I’ve literally never stayed in a hotel this bad.

Positive: When we arrived at the hotel, they had given our room to someone else, so we had to get the suite with the hot tub which was better than the one we were getting. The location is great Negative: Overall, it was pretty good. There were a few things wrong with the room when we first got there, but they fixed them right away. Staff was excellent and the breakfast buffet was really good and I love the hot tub. Negative: ""

No towels in the room and when we asked they said they could only give us 2 towels for 4 people. We sat our dogs dish down only to come back a few hours later with our dog to bugs crawling in the dish. Turn the light on in bathroom at night to a roach. My son had a bug on his pillow when he woke. Hairdryer didn’t work. Microwave had a power problem, only once did it work. When we checked out there was no one at desk to report what we delt with for 3 nights. Breakfast was a waffle maker and cold ceral. No glasses for juice. I ly 2 cups if yogurt.

Phone did not work, missing remote control to tv, and blankets had stains on them. Floor smelled like cigarette smoke. The experience was so bad that the front desk offered to give me a refund which i know was a lie. Never would stay here again especially for 4 hundred plus. That room was worth maybe 75 at best but because of the graduation, we had no choice.
