Super 8 by Wyndham Calhoun - Featured Reviews (517)
Right off highway 75 makes the location easy to find and gives you access to many restaurants an gas stations! The rooms are clean kept and are all affordable rates during the week as well as the weekend. I would highly recommend Super 8 to anyone looking for a relaxing, quite stay.
Positive: Dog were allowed. Negative: The pool was out of order (a pool was one of the main reasons we stayed here since my daughter loves swimming). The fitness room was closed and had tables in it with the equipment in a corner. The front lobby bathroom was out of order.
Quick rent for the night. Wasn’t expecting 5 stars but also was not expecting stains on the blankets, leaking showers that flood the bathroom floors , food left in the fridge from others and definitely NOT the construction danger they called a pool. No safety fences just garbage and polluted water half full. Check in counter lady had no personality almost as if we were bugging her. This was a suuuuuper bad choice. Red Roof next door 110% better idea! Don’t stay here not worth it even in a pinch. Plain aweful!
Women at front desk was pleasant. The owners need to do a lot of upgrades. Towels were not very nice. All the mirrors were dirty, paint peeling in bathroom walls. Black mold dots on ceiling above shower, did not “see” any bugs but I will probably won’t be back there.
For a budget hotel/motel, the expectations are lower than for a higher priced room. Therefore, getting 5 stars for a $90 and for a $200 room are not the same thing. I expect less out of a budget room like this.
The Good
• The 2 desk people we talked to were very nice and helpful
• The room was clean enough – no major complaints
• Everything worked, mostly
The Bad
• Nothing was downright bad.
The Just OK
• The A/C unit worked, sort of. Sometimes it turned off and the room got warm, and then later it kicked in and it got pretty cold.
• The mattress was not very comfortable, but it wasn’t terrible
• The breakfast was just packaged pastries, 2 cereals in towers, coffee, juice, packets of oats. Again, not bad, just not good
Overall
We would stay here again, but if we are in the area and found another similarly priced room with similar review scores, we’d probably try the new one to see if it’s better.
Hotel was on the older side but I found it well kept with good furniture, adequate outlets, microwave &refrigerator. I didn't examine every corner but the room seemed clean, the bed was fine. I loved the fact I could back right up to the room door. I had a little trouble checking in as I had mistakenly booked the wrong type room, the desk clerk easily and kindly was able to change it with no problems. Breakfast was routine with not much to offer but typical for a Super Eight. It was what I expected.
This is an old motel as most Super 8’s are but it was very clean. Could use some updating. It was easy to access right off the interstate. Breakfast was light with prepackaged muffins, yogurt and cereal. But I appreciate that it was clean! Don’t let that it’s a Super 8 scare you off.
Dirty room. Pool out of service. You can tell management just wants your money and does nothing for upkeep. I have no idea how this place has the rating it does. Only plus is the area seems clean and safe. Plenty of food walking distance. Abcdef
This was a lovely hotel to stay at. Clean, great choices for breakfast, and friendly staff all around. Calhoun is also a quiet, small area, as someone who is from Florida, it was a nice change. Would stay here again in the future.
We stopped here on our way to TN! December 12th. My husband had made a reservation on Travelocity and made it for the wrong day! So we called and asked if they could honor it for the night as we were almost there! The lady who answered said No, I wo

Absolutely loved visiting. Staff was super knowledgeable. Restrooms available and a vending machine for drinks. Pets are allowed as long as leashes but NOT allowed inside buildings. Beautiful area. Also as a side note yearly passes are available (for
We stopped on our way to Elijay to get some tacos.
They make great tacos, authentic Mexican flavor and big portions.
Highly recommend if you are in town.
I stopped here for lunch on the way to Chattanooga. I always like mom n pop places and Yellow Jacket did not disappoint! The servers are kind, attentive, and friendly, and knew all of the locals who came in by name! The restaurant was clean.
