My wife and I checked into the spacious Banyon unit yesterday for a three night stay. We are so impressed! The Sunshine Island Inn is very quaint and cozy. The owners have done an amazing job rebuilding after the hurricane. This place is spotless inside and out. Everything is brand new and impeccably clean and tidy, including the pool area and grounds. I highly recommend this place and will book it again on future Sanibel stays!
The rooms are a bit dated. But they're clean and not bad to stay in at all. What I really loved about this place is how laid-back it was. Just stay and enjoy. Everybody kind of leaves you alone. The beach is a little walk but they furnish you with the wagon and everything you need to enjoy your day down there. I like the place and I would definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful 3-night stay in the Tropical Paradise room. This motel is old and a bit dated, bare bones and no frills. But it had pretty much everything we needed! The most important thing was that it was a short walk to the beach, and comfortable beach chairs were provided. The kitchen had everything we needed (fridge, dishware, etc.). The bed and bedding were comfortable. The bathroom seems in need of renovation, but it did have everything that we needed, including hairdryer. It would have helped to have a couple of hooks outside the bathroom to hang our towels on, though. Also, if you need internet during your vacation, this is a warning that we had trouble getting a WiFi signal from our room. It seemed to be better outside by the pool. The cell data signal was also very weak (we have Verizon).
We did not bring a car, and after seeing the bad car traffic on the island, we did not miss it. It was very easy to rent bikes at Billy's Bike Shop (they deliver and pick up rental bikes from the motel), and we used the bikes for transportation during our stay, which was fun, since we had perfect weather every day. The off-road bike paths are great, and there is a path that runs right along the motel.
During almost our entire stay, there was no staff on site. If you are low-maintenance guests, like we are, then this place might be perfect for you too!
We stayed in bungalow Tropical Paradise, we liked the self check-in. And everything was clean. Our bed was comfortable. We are simple folks and we don’t need lots of bells and whistles., Sunshine island inn was prefect for us, it is very close to beach’s, lighthouse and lots of good Restaurants. We rode our bikes everywhere and really enjoy it. Just remember there are no street lights on island so riding at night time can be little challenging.. We Love Sanibel and will be back.
My husband and I booked a last minute short stay in the Heron Hideaway and were very satisfied with our stay. The room is clean and nicely decorated. It has a small footprint but we were mostly looking for a place to sleep because we wanted to spend our time at the beach! Speaking of the beach, it is a short walk <5 minutes to having your toes in the water! Path is right across the street and the inn has wagons, beach chairs and towels to take to the beach. We liked being so close so we could come back to our room to use the bathroom or restock our cooler. The room itself looks like it has been updated from the photos on the Inn's website with a small wet bar, refrigerator, microwave, hot plate and dishes for 2. The bathroom is very small but was all we needed. I had seen a previous review noting water pressure issues with the shower in the Heron Hideaway but it seems this issue has been addressed as the shower had great water pressure and a nice tall showerhead that even my 6'6" husband approved of!
My 10 year old daughter and I spent 5 days in the Castaway bungalow and loved it. It’s small, but clean with a seemingly newly redone kitchenette and bathroom. It was clean and modern and homey. The pool was nice and the grounds are lovely. There’s a small dock on the property that overlooks mangroves and a small little stream. The walk to the beach takes 5-7 minutes. It’s a private beach so it’s nice and quiet. They have chairs for each room and a few red wagons and umbrellas. It’s self serve in terms of getting new towels and toilet paper and things like that. Very laid back. You can do laundry for free. The management was friendly and helpful. It’s a five minute drive to the center of town and 5 minutes to the lighthouse. Very centrally located. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, low key. Highly recommend!!!!!
Our room is so much nicer than the photos showed. Everything we could want was supplied.
Plenty of room to move around in. The motel also has beach chairs, beach umbrellas and wagons to transport all our stuff to the beach.
The staff was so helpful and kind.
The whole place is adorable.
This little place is the PERFECT spot to enjoy the island. It is quiet, and has everything you need, plus direct beach access with all the accessories on site to borrow for your beach day! We went as a couple and had a terrific time! We will be bringing the kids next time for sure, as this island is great for a family vacation as well as just a relaxing romantic getaway. Sunshine Island Inn will make your stay easy and affordable.
Visited last weekend for my husband's birthday! First Elizabeth at the front desk was very nice and accommodating! Our room was very clean, smelled great, and we had a new matress on our bed that was so comfortable! AC was cold! I have to say also ho
This is our second time staying here and both times it was great. Only the second time there was construction in the neighboring cottage and it was noisy. Our dog was very sick and on medication. We could not leave her alone because of the noise t
We had a wonderful stay. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. The a/c worked great. The king size bed may need updating, it gave me the feeling of rolling in to the center but I was able to get use to it. There were some pool repairs hap
I have been going to Sanibel Cottages for the past 30 years. Great private beach access, and amazing private pool. It has more of the personal condo feel, rather than a resort atmosphere. We love it to cook and hang out with friends and family. Becau
The island is so damaged from Ian. There was not much wildlife to see. Some of the trails are still closed. There is new growth with some of the plants. Employees were very friendly. The gift shop was very nice and reasonably priced. I'm sure this ar
At their pond is where we finally saw a couple young alligator, plus a turtle, a sleepy tree frog, and big birds. Good selection of garden plants. Looks like a nice place for an event, wedding, or reception.
They think of everything you might need here! They have bikes, beach chairs, towels (for a deposit they give back to you), games, grills, a pool, screened in porches, a great view, are close to the beach, and great service. They also provide laundry
Holly took me out for my birthday tonight and it was amazing. Best meal I have had in years. Absolutely superb, both owners simply delightful and very friendly. I will definitely go back again very soon.
This beach had top-tier facilities with bathrooms, changing rooms, and outdoor showers and taps to wash your feet! The parking is your standard 5/hr with lots of parking space at the entrance. The only downside is that there is a little bit of a walk

Came here for a mommy get away. The rooms are very welcoming, full kitchen. There was even a towel animal on the bed. It is right on the beach. We had fun, shelling. They have bikes you can rent.
