Take a moderate hike to catch a moderate view of the town and the church. Not quite worth the effort in my opinion, as the views have become obstructed by the trees that have grown in between. It's OK for a quick hike or as something to do for 45 minutes or so .
Walked trail after hard rainfall. Trail is slippery when wet but still walkable. The trail markers are great. Very creative tiles. We stopped at the sunset rock overview and cannot comment on the upper level trail.
Loved this hike. It’s fairly easy, there is an incline all the way to the top but it’s fairly steady. The views are spectacular and there’s a picnic area as well if you’re interested in that. Looks over Stowe, great pictures here. Also dog friendly .
The route from the parking area off of Taber Hill Road is pretty gradual and easy going, and you can follow either the wider access road up to the Upper Overlook, or the narrower and slightly overgrown-in-places Taber Path, which splits at the end to go down to Sunset Rock or up to the Upper Overlook. Both paths up and down from here are fairly steep, so be sure to wear proper footwear. The trails themselves are well-marked, but the actual attractions (Upper Overlook, Sunset Rock, Glacial Kettle Hole) are a little understated and could use some extra signage to let you know you've arrived, or you may just walk right past (we actually did miss both the Upper Overlook and the Glacial Kettle Hole at first pass, and had to double back to find them). The view of downtown Stowe's Main Street from Sunset Rock is pretty cool, if not spectacular. As for the Upper Overlook, maybe mid-August is just the wrong time of year, with all of the trees in full foliage and concealing the view, but we found it a little underwhelming. Still a nice hike, and the convenience to downtown Stowe and relatively short length make it a decent option for families with kids (although not too young, as some parts are a little steep) and more novice hikers.
A short, steep walk to Sunset Rock and a beautiful view of the Stowe Community Church and downtown. Not much more to see if you continue up the trail though. Not far from Moss Glen Falls, so a good choice to combine the two if you want a quick, easy hike for the morning or afternoon, with plenty of time to do other things.
Started the hike just a little before sunset. Kids paintings served as trail markers. The upper overlook was underwhelming but the view from the sunset rock is worth it. Short hike but continuous incline - good views !
DO NOT DRIVE UP SUNSET STREET! This is a residential street with NO PARKING signs posted. It is also a dead end street and you will need to make a U-Turn in someone's driveway. Park in town somewhere. The walk up to the Sunset Rock is shorter and much more difficult than if you went to the SUNSET ROCK PARKING location on Google Maps. Hiking to Sunset Rock from the parking location is much better, less difficult and more phot opportunities exist.
Fun and quick hike with a nice view of town and Mt Mansfield. The most entertaining part, however, was the local artwork - probably from Stowe elementary kids. Very nice touch! Watch for snakes!!
Stowe's rec path: a scenic paradise for dogs and their humans! Stunning swimming spots for a refreshing break. Just be cautious â some cyclists are silent speedsters, so keep an eye out and enjoy the adventure!
Very short hike, but you need to have good shoes. Put your swimsuit under your clothes and bring snacks; you will want to get in the water and stay for a while. You don't have to jump from the cliffs to enjoy a safe swim, just steady one foot at the
My partner and I stayed at Stone Hill Inn the week after Christmas (Dec 2023) for a visit to Stowe. The communication leading up to our stay was first-rate, and we were provided with all the information you could ever need to plan a good stayâthink
My family and I had a wonderful stay over Christmas holidays at this wonderful Inn. Kim and Phill were super hosts. They were very welcoming to our boys and we felt at home. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious and served with a wonderful view. The
GiraKofi is great! Iâve been wanting to go here for quite a while and finally stopped in today. They have an impressive selection of teas, coffees, and even other drinks like flavored Red Bull! I personally love that - they can add like 20+ flavors
What a charming coffee shop / bakery!! We stopped in after learning they had a vegan breakfast sandwich! It was SO good! It was basically a fresh made muffin (from scratch!) with vegan egg, vegan cheese & vegan home made sausage! It was a nice size,
Great experience at Lake Champlain Chocolates! The staff was friendly, and the chocolate selection was amazing. I also tried their signature hot chocolate, which was absolutely delicious. If you love chocolate, this place is a must-visit!"

Absolutely otherworldly beautiful. It is a wonderful hike well maintained trail with amazing views of the gorge and the waterfalls. A couple bench to sit on along the trail and little informative signs about the gorge. Definitely bring bug spray, tho
Wonderful room! The bed was the good kind of firm/ supportive I had no back pain the next day! Linens were crisp, and there was a good variety of pillow types. The room was very clean. There is only one complaint, and it's more of a nit pick than
