Sunset Hill is a remarkable multipurpose park where you can walk in the woods, prairie, sunflower fields, a farm setting with animals, a natural science facility, science building, Illiana railroad station, Christmas light display that is a multi state attraction every year. There are miles of walking trails, a historic power association event each year where you can see a steam powered sawmill, live music, food vendors and crafts, flee market, a display of antique tractors and other farm machinery that ends the weekend with a parade. Any day of the year is the perfect day to visit Sunset Hill Park. This park gets my highest recommendation in Indiana. They have something for every person, young or old, mobile or not. This is a perfect venue for special needs people as there is so much space and never is crowded or loud. Sunset Hill Park, thank you for being a shining example of the beauty found in Valparaiso and Indiana.
A beautiful park, playground and experience. I came here for a few hours because the Plugshare app indicated that they have Level 1 power outlets here. Yes, they do. All along the fenceline. While the Sprinter van was charging, I took the time to enjoy this space.
It was originally a fully functioning farm that was purchased by Colonel Robert Heffron Murray and his wife in 1934. After Colonel Murray passed away in 1972, his estate donated the land to Porter County.
Now, it has walking trails, an accessible playground, some learning and caption signs and even cross-country skiing.
The park offers seasonal tent camping. No RVs or cars or trailer campsites. But the parking lot is huge and you can certainly park here to visit.
This was my first time on the trails here and it was so beautiful and well kept! I was thrilled to see some animals out too.
This park has a cool nature playground, lots of open space, a variety of trails, and small activities throughout. We went in the day (so not for the Christmas lights), and we saw decorated Christmas trees, a story walk, and a miniature train set up (though it wasn't running when we went). There was no entrance fee (11am on a weekday in January).
Great park and trails. The railroad display is outstanding..thanks to the knowledgeable gentleman who gave us train info and tour.
Great events are held here. Enjoyed our first trunk or treat here which had a decent turnout of vendors and great costumes on their behalf. We also love touch a truck that is held here as well. Is always super busy and highly recommend coming earlier to find parking if attending events here.
Beautiful county Park with rolling hills, prairie views, woods, wide grass trails and ponds. Very family friendly with cute playgrounds and farm animals. Pet-friendly hiking. Quiet, peaceful, and a great place for easy to moderate hiking. Beautifully maintained. Highly recommend.
Unreal, the map they have on their hiking trail shows one loop. You finally find the trail and there seems to be multiple trails. I ended up on 700 Rd and had to take 700 back too meridian so I wasn't walking around in the woods with unclear trail markers.

My family and I moved here from Kentucky a little over a year ago. Once I heard about Valplayso, I had to take my kids there to check it out. It was the cutest and most entertaining park we've ever been to. I will continue to take my kids here!
This is a great place to go for a walk or hike! I enjoy coming here to fish the lake, although it is a heavily pressured lake, it's still fun! Also, they have a few playgrounds for the small children that are decent.
The owner takes pride in her craft and you can really tell this through the work that she does and the product she puts out. I'm obsessed with all the macarons, French silk tart, fruit tarts, quiche, and cheesecake. The staff is friendly and helpful
Iâve been to fluid about 10+ times now, I know small/local places have a reputation for not having consistency but fluid is a hit every single time. Every drink every time has been consistently good. Some of the best coffee Iâve ever had and the
The biggest University chapel in the United States. It is a very calm and quite place to sit and meditate. They have different services available for those who want to attend worship services... it is one of its kind in the States and a good place to
Can't even express how much I love The Press! Such a precious bookstore and coffee shop! Warm and inviting. The staff are the kindest people. Their coffee is on a whole other level! It's the best coffee in town! Hands down! I'm so grateful to live a
I didnât know that this small restaurant existed until a friend recommended that I come here for supper. Itâs part of a small and quiet strip mall near the railroad tracks and doesnât stand out much from the road. However, the food here is of s
Visiting Valpo for a few days, we made a last minute change in our dinner plan, and so glad we did! Best Italian food that we have had (outside of being in Italy)! All of the pasta is homemade, which makes all the difference. Fresh, homemade bread di
Iâve only done the looping trail south and east to the parking lot. For anyone who appreciates prairies and wildlife Habitats, you will be delighted here. The trail itself is a mowed path. The times I have been here, it was well maintained. Wildf
A very Beautiful place to visit. It makes you feel like a Kid again with All the skillful designed Trains and the History that goes with it! It also has very nice trails to walk for hiking or just to be out in nature and you can also bring your horse
Any time we can find a space that tells us a bit more about the new location we happen to be visiting, we try our best to stop there. The PoCo Museum is free and worth the stop. You should plan to spend an hour or two there to really get a feel for t
A really nice gallery. It's very eclectic, going from early 19th Century to Contemporary. Lots of small galleries of the main room with great surprises around each corner. Look for the Childe Hassan, Georgia O'Keeffe, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol as
