Sundowner on Lake George - Featured Reviews (281)
We really liked this place. Beds were comfy. The interiors were new and immaculate. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The place lost a star b/c of policy not staff interaction. You have to bring oars and paddles down to launch from office, and we had to trade-in towels, and ask for new garbage bags. Again not a knock on the staff just explaining type of service we rec'd. Location is great, right on the edge of LGV, which I like. The exterior of the place is run down and parking lot is very tight. Very accommodating to families. Another down side is the chunk of shore this place has is small. So if you're the type to lounge about the shore all day, this place is not for you. All-in-all it was a nice place to stay, and will most likely return. Great place for a LG vacation.
(Replying to Owner) Again I have no problems with the service we received nor policy. However, on vacation some people may want more.
This was our first time staying here and I have to say we were very impressed with the cabin and motel. We stayed in Cabin 209 (Lake front)and it was beyond gorgeous and clean. Bed was very comfortable too. |The staff went out of their way to make you feel special. The housekeeper was adorable and the maintenance staff greeted you with a smile each morning. We will be back. Thank you Sundowner for a great few days.
Private sandy beach directly on Lake George. Guests have free use of gas BBQ grills, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and rowboat. Accommodations for any size family. Lake view rooms with private decks. Cabins and suites with private decks and BBQ grills. Remodeling and renovations of all rooms appears to be complete. Our private cabin had a king size bed, private deck, gas BBQ grill and fully equipped kitchenette, and was freshly renovated with the addition of a jacuzzi tub for 2, separate shower stall and fireplace. Spotlessly clean.|Pagoda covered sun deck overlooking beautiful Lake George and adjacent to the swimming pool and hot tub is our favorite place in LG.|Friendly, professional, hard working owners and staff. Free parking. Easy walking distance to Lake George village and restaurants, shops, stores and attractions.|2024 was our 13th consecutive year vacationing in LG, our 11th year staying at Sundowner Motel and the 9th year since the property was added to the Gregor family of hotels. We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. Sundowner Motel is the BEST.
We stayed at the Sundowner for 3 nights in Lake George and were very happy with our room - nicely updated in a Adirondack Cabin theme and spotlessly clean with a large bathroom, plenty of towels and a nice full kitchen that has a refrigerator, 2 burner cooktop and microwave as well as all kitchen necessities you may need. Nice location close enough to walk to the downtown area for shopping, dining, etc. (was just a little difficult due to extreme weather/heat last week). The per night weekday rate was a little higher in my opinion that it should have been, but everything in Lake George Village is pricey.
We stayed in room 121 which is a renovated 2 King Beds, a jacuzzi style bath tub, kitchenette and sitting area room. The location is very convenient, there is a small private beach, and a small swimming pool and a nice outdoor seating area. We didn’t have any issues during our stay but the staff was very nice for the basic routine interactions of check-in, check-out, and housekeeping. We were able to rent a pack and play for our 10 month old, but be sure to check the set up; the mattress was not set up correctly for safe sleep. It was an easy fix we did ourselves but don’t assume they are set up correctly.
Points deducted because 1. We found the beds very uncomfortable (1 was super firm, and the other was super firm but also sagging). 2. There was a visible gap between the tub and the wood paneling and very sloppy caulking. 3. I don’t think the wood paneling in the bathroom is treated for the water/steam exposure. The baseboards in the bathroom were water damaged.
I wouldn’t stay again mostly based on how uncomfortable the beds were.
Stayed in room 99 and it was a mix of great and bad, and it really could have been a full 5 star review if they fixed a few things. First the room is huge! It's a decent 1 bedroom apartment. It has a beautiful full kitchen and nice dining area. But it says it sleeps 4 yet they have only a king bed and futon. We thought it was 2 futons, but had to get a cot for our 2 child. There's plenty of space and it would make a lot more sense for them to have 2 queens or even could have a king and a double/bunk bed and still keep the futon in the kitchen dining area. Bathroom is nicely remodeled and has a nice giant bathtub, but wish it was a jacuzzi. Then the real negatives are in the finishes, the mirror and lights in the bathroom are too low and you have to duck to see your face. Only 1 TV in 2 rooms is odd, but then also the location of the TV is weird, it would make sense to have it above the dresser across from the bed but instead it's in the corner with cords hanging out, they even ran the cable from the spot behind the dresser around the bathroom door, so it really didn't make sense. The pool was good and hottub ok, could be better. The beach was great but not huge. Plenty of chairs and space for everyone that was there. Loved the kayaks and paddle boards that are included.
Big disappointment. Parking lot is super tight. Upon check in was told our room was up a flight of stairs. It has a strange smell inside. Definitely needs some tic. All the curtains are hanging out of wall.|Floors need to be refinished. Water won't go down in bathroom sink lightbulbs out in bathroom. Spoke to the manager/ owner Lisa and explained dissatisfaction with and the fact I was billed 850 for two nights for these accommodations. She offered to fix sink and that was it.
As soon as we checked at lobby we had a bad feeling. The lobby and windows were very dirty. Rooms do not match the pictures on website. Top to bottom the room we rented was very dirty, pillows had stains on them. They present the rooms as newly remodeled, but they are not. There was the smell of cigarette smoke was well. We lasted about an hour before changing motel to next door, same amount of space, half the price!
I came up to Lake George for my birthday and had a wonderful stay at the inn. It's a great location- you are within walking distance of the lake, so no need to deal with street parking. Elizabeth and Brady were very welcoming, the rooms were spotless
My wife and I stayed there last week for 2 days. Could not ask for a nicer hotel, clean, well maintained, All 3 shifts in the front office would go out of there way to accommodate us. And the breakfast buffet was well maintained. Great value for the

My family and I absolutely LOVED this place. The owners Felix and Diana were so kind and accommodating. Our cabin, the pool, and the grounds were all immaculate. Our two-bedroom cabin was equipped with everything we needed for a peaceful and relaxing
Such a beautiful place. Loved our cabin, the property was beautiful, and such a wonderful place for kids. Had such a beautiful beach, and pools. Loved so much, and can't wait till next year .
Birthday dinner. Packed house on a Wednesday night. Sat in the back room, very cozy space. House wine (very reasonable) and a signature cocktail. Both excellent. Small portions - crab cake app, cobb salad app. Again - both given high marks, the sala
My one night last minute escape to Lake George was amazing thanks to our server Sarah at my wine tasting at Adirondack Winery. I had such an experience with the 7 wine & 1 premium. My favorite which I renamed is the Beachside Bubbly *B!+â¬h yes I ad
