So let's first off say the food overall was pretty good and the service was amazing. We started with the boneless karage which was very very bland. It was flavorless and desperately needed sauce. The sauces that came with the appetizer was pretty flavorful that being said and saved the dish. The ramen here was also pretty good if a tad bit salty. The ramen we ordered were the sum ramen, black garlic and tonkotsu. they were all good but the black garlic had spinach in the ramen which I've never saw done before. The wait staff was nice but the food took a bit to come out making the time frame between the appetizer and the meal very large.

The food was delicious in this restaurant. The ramen was another level. The broth was so flavorful and the meat quality was top notch. We ordered pork gyoza, spicy pork bao, sun ramen, miso ramen and spicy pork hot stone bowl. The service was great. We got seated very quickly even though the restaurant was full on a sat night. Very satisfied with our visit. Highly recommended.

We came here particularly for the Pork Don, very impressive compared to Miso Ramen! The Don came with stone pot, so the bottom rice tasted crispy. The sauce is the soul, combined with vegetables and juicy pork. It is the master. If you are the fan of Korean style bibimbap, you will love the don!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sum Ramen in Millburn, NJ, and I must say it was an extraordinary experience! From the moment I stepped inside, the excellent service and attention to detail were apparent. First and foremost, I was delighted to find an extensive selection of vegetarian options on their menu. As a vegetarian, it can sometimes be a challenge to find a variety of dishes that truly satisfy, but Sum Ramen surpassed my expectations. Their curry ramen was an absolute delight, bursting with flavors that left me craving more. The richness of the curry combined with the perfectly cooked noodles created a harmonious blend of savory goodness. I also had the opportunity to try the vegetarian tofu bao, and it was simply amazing! The soft and fluffy steamed buns enveloping the flavorful tofu filling made for a delightful combination. Beyond the delectable food, the interior of Sum Ramen added to the overall experience. The cute and well-thought-out showcases throughout the restaurant created a fun and inviting ambiance. It's evident that the owners have put great effort into creating an aesthetically pleasing space that enhances the dining experience. Lastly, I must commend the staff for their outstanding service. The moment I entered, I was warmly greeted and promptly seated. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable, providing helpful suggestions and answering all of my questions with a smile. The overall atmosphere was friendly and inviting, making me feel welcome and comfortable throughout my meal. Sum Ramen in Millburn, NJ, is truly a gem for vegetarians and ramen enthusiasts alike. With their delicious vegetarian options, including the mouthwatering curry ramen and tofu bao, as well as their charming interior, this place is a must-visit. The impeccable service adds the perfect finishing touch to an already fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend Sum Ramen and can't wait to return for another memorable meal!

I most like their unique take on mapo tofu, along with a nice variety of Asian dishes in a small but decorated dining area. Lately I’ve found my body is very particular about ramen and so I often don’t order it unless there is something I specifically want to try. In this case my wife wanted to try their spicy ramen which was perfect for me because I could sample it while still ordering something else. What caught my eye while searching google was one dish in their Stone Bowl section: they have a mapo tofu dish!! For anyone unfamiliar, mapo tofu is a Chinese dish usually found in Sichuan style restaurants, so I did not expect it here, in a stone bowl either. I had to try it. My verdict: I would have it again IF I was looking for their unique take. The stone bowl means that the dish sizzles enticingly for a while even after the meal comes out. It also gives the rice a singed and crispy taste, without getting stuck in my teeth which is something I’ve often experienced in some Korean restaurants. The tofu and sauce are tasty but more reminiscent of jajiang noodle sauce or some other Korean hot paste, than of the bean paste flavor I tend to expect from other mapo tofu dishes. We also tried one appetizer, their curry croquette dish. This was crispy as expected but the taste of the croquette itself, and the curry, weren’t as expected. Perhaps just not a flavor match. Last thing - friendly service! It’s always appreciated.

This is the best Ramen we’ve had in the area! We had the miso ramen…all the add ons were fresh and delicious. Staff super friendly and helpful.

Sum Ramen, located in Millburn, offers a pretty good selection of Ramen. We had the black garlic Ramen and Spicy Tan Tan Ramen and both were pretty good. If I had to compare, the thinner noodles in the Black Garlic were ether, but the broth of the Spicy Tan Tan was better. We also had some Bao buns and those were excellent! It was fairly crowded but the service was still very good. I recommend Sum Ramen if in the Millburn /Union area or before seeing a show at The Paper Mill Playhouse

OUTSTANDING! We chose two different Ramen dishes for take out- The Black Garlic Ramen and the spicy Sum Ramen. Both were incredible! The flavors were rich but subtle, each came with plenty of ramen, shiitake mushrooms, veggies and soy sauce egg. This place has quickly taken become our favorite local Ramen place, and rivals our former favorite in NYC! So happy to have them here locally! 💕
