Good decent Japanese cuisine near Boston area. Anyone can enjoy large selection of Japanese dishes with reasonable price. They recently (half year ago) moved and renovated to main street with larger space. i went to Sugidama multiple times before and after they moved. Everything was above average every visit, but not the best quality. I can recommend any menu from roll, sushi, yakitori to don (protein over rice). All will be satisfied. Service is not great, but good enough. This is a bit noisy place where you can enjoy drinks with small to large portion of food with your friends.

Came in for lunch earlier this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the interior decor and overall ambiance of the place. Food is really great - taste and quality wise, however, I recommend the traditional Japanese food such as soba and yakitori over the sushi dishes. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars is mainly due to service - the server did not know how to table manage and brought out main dishes before our appetizers were finished making the overall experience very rushed and stressful. As a customer, I don’t feel like I should have to hold dishes in my hand and be told to make space on the table for other dishes - if the restaurant can improve upon pacing and overall service it would make for a lot more pleasurable dining experience :)

Sugidama never fails to deliver an extraordinary experience. The staff members are incredibly friendly, and the cuisine is consistently fresh and bursting with flavor. Recently, my spouse and I had the pleasure of trying their innovative lobster wrap, which was nothing short of amazing. It provided a delightful explosion of taste and had a delightful crispiness on the exterior. Additionally, their selection of soba dishes is truly amazing . No matter which one you choose, you simply can't go wrong. Each bowl is meticulously prepared using fully homemade soba noodles, a distinct feature that sets Sugidama apart from any other soba in town. Can’t forget the passion fruit mojito my house favorite!!

SUGIDAMA in Davis Square offers an outstanding dining experience with food that truly stands out. The hot soba was delicious, showcasing authentic flavors and quality preparation. The sushi was on point, but the UNI taco stole the show – a star in its own right! Each bite was a delightful journey of flavors, a testament to the culinary excellence at SUGIDAMA. Highly recommended for those seeking an exceptional dining experience with a standout menu.

We went here on the 2nd day of their opening for dinner around 8. When we got here, they were out of lots of items we wanted to try, including anything Matcha related, couple of foods. However the atmosphere was pretty nice. There was about a 20 minutes waiting period. The drinks was also pretty good. Ended up trying sashimi cold Soba and it was pretty good. We got the Yuzu cheesecake for dessert which was surprisingly such a small portion. Other than that, the food itself were really good. Due to the items we wanted missing we were also given some items on the house, which was a nice gesture. Overall, the place is good, would recommend for food and drinks.

I visited Sugidama Soba Izakaya after five years, now in a different location around the corner The place is pretty spacious with ample seating, and there was no wait around 1 pm on Sunday. The chicken tatsuta age was remarkably tender and juicy, though not very crispy. The juiciness made up for it, and it had good flavor. The scallop was delicious but quite expensive at $9 for one. It was perfectly marinated with lemon pepper and butter, cooked to perfection and tender. The enoki wrapped in beef was good but not outstanding. Unfortunately, the hot soba with tempura was the least enjoyable. The tempura had shrimp, but it was the bad opaque kind that easily gets overcooked and grainy. The tempura were generally undercooked and lacked seasoning. The soba soup was fine, pretty standard, but the noodles seemed a bit overcooked and floury when bitten into. Overall there were some tasty dishes, but I did not enjoy the entree I got at all. I probably won't come back, and if I do, I will not get the soba. It's otherwise a very pleasant and clean space in a prime location.

A wide selection of cold and hot sobas! Love the ambience and atmosphere of this place, super well decorated, clean, fits a decent size group (we came as 6), lighting and everything was great! We tried the dragon roll and baby hamachi jalapeño (6 pieces) for appetizers which were both quite good and easy to share. We also got the ebi kakiage hot soba which came with these veggie topped with shrimp tempura and a decently large bowl of soba and broth. Tempura and broth was great although I was not personally a fan of the soba texture which was not particularly chewy. We also ordered a Yuzu Roll House Maki which was a great pairing of the yuzu sauce and sashimi in the roll.

Pretty good place to stop by for a quick meal if you’re looking for something filling but light! I’d definitely come back again if I’m looking for a nice light meal in the area where service is fast and courteous. Stick to the options that American-Japanese joints do well, like dons and sushi rolls. I was adventurous and got a hot soba, which fell a bit short of expectations as it broke apart very easily, but this place is by no means a bad restaurant. I can imagine they do their cold sobas better!

Amazing! I went here with my friend to pick up an assortment of baked goods. The space is small but we got there early Saturday morning and the line wasn't bad at all (and it moved pretty fast). The atmosphere was nice and warm, it smelled SO good in
