We had an amazing ski weekend at Sugar Loaf Lodge. Our cabin had beautiful rustic charm and was so cozy, warm and comfortable. The spiral staircase to get to the loft was a cool throwback and the views from the loft were amazing! The location is isolated which made it perfect for cross country skiers and snow mobilers to access the trails of Mt. Hagen right from the door. Our hosts were so kind and work very hard to make the lodge a special get-away.

We stayed in the winter & I am just getting around to writing a review. Time got away from me... Everything was great! Monica, Jay & family were very warm and welcoming. We got in late & they stayed up to wait for our safe arrival. The roads were icy, but that's Montana. We found the place in the dark with no problem. The Suite we stayed in was clean, warm and comfortable. Plenty of room for our party of six. 4 adults & 2 children (9 & 10 year old). The spiral staircase was intriguing, the "younger" adults stayed upstairs. Seniors & younger children may have difficulty navigating the spiral stairs. It was so nice to have two bathrooms & a functional kitchen. Parking right in front to get easily in & out for unloading, packing & coming/ going. Close to Butte & Anaconda 20 to 30 minutes for food, gas, and entertainment. We also rented 3 snowmobiles for a tour with Mark & Cory. They were very patient with our group, even when one of us took a snowmobile in deep snow with a slow "dump over board". Cory was right there to respond and rescue. We got back on and carried on further up the trail. One of our backpacks also kept falling off & we had to stop a few times, our guides showed no announce with us. Cory & Mark took us on a two ish hour trip up the mountain, what a leg work out snowmobiles can be. It was absolutely gorgeous! Our family had so much fun. We created some core memories for our family for sure.

Wow! We had no idea what to expect as we stumbled across this place in an effort to sleep our family of 7 for one night. We loved it so much that the kids want to specifically plan our next western MT vacation around staying here. We had the Vista cabin, and it was wonderful. Clean, beautiful setting, full kitchen with many essentials for cooking/baking. Our cabin had a nice bathroom and shower (and amazing toilet paper holder) and the kids loved the upstairs loft. It's off grid, so no wifi or cell service (maybe service near the main lodge?), but it was so nice to unplug in such a beautiful location. We went July 11th and the Lupine was gorgeous! Producing a divine smell all around our cabin.

What a lovely location for our daughter’s wedding 3-11-23! Monica and her family went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She was wonderful to work with and the lodge was beautiful. Highly, highly recommend them for a wedding, retreat, or any event!

Really enjoyed the vista cabin, very peaceful. We had four guys and snowmobile gear lots of room. Monica and Jay are great hosts. Cell phones only work close to the lodge (another bonus) no TV. We rented the snowmobiles from Pintler (Mark) they rent at the lodge. Snowmobiles were filled up every day and we kept them at our cabin. Jay and Cory took us out and schooled us on mountain riding. Great trip. Would love to go again. Troy Revill

We had our fall wedding here and were so impressed with every single detail. Jay and Monica are so kind and prompt to answer any and all questions. The rooms/cabins were amazing and beautifully decorated and spotless. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was so well kept up. Everyone had a wonderful time. We highly suggest choosing this venue for your wedding. You will not be disappointed!

Reading these reviews, I apparently had a bit of a different stay at the Sugar Loaf Cabins. First off, I stayed in a cabin, not the lodge. It was a perfectly cute cabin, nicely decorated and clean, mostly one room with an add-on rudimentary kitchen (no running water, gas burner, etc.). The bed was sooooo comfortable! The flannel sheets were welcome even in August--those mountain mornings are chilly. There were actually 3 beds, one large and two twins, which kinda filled the place. There wouldn't have been much room for storage or sitting around if you had, say a family of four in the space. But I was fine. The bathroom is out back--about 40-50 yards away, through a door, around two corners. Not great at 3 am. There is a stove (gas?) that would have provided heat if I needed it. The cabin seemed well-insulated and didn't get nearly as cool as the mornings outside. What was a little odd was that the place seemed nearly deserted, except for a cute dog and cat. The landlady met me in the parking lot, and her greeting was friendly. She handed me a key and gave me directions, and that was the last I saw of her--or anyone--until I handed the key off to someone else at departure. At one point, I thought I'd explore the lodge and found it locked. No cafe, no game room (there is playground equipment and a basketball hoop). I should clarify--there were other guests in 2 other cabins, and I did say hi, and saw them riding ATV's around the place. But not much of a resort sort of atmosphere, if that's what you are looking for. Maybe late August is off-season? Town is "down the hill"--maybe 10-12 miles? And not much was open there. I have to add that the cabins/lodge are located in the woods--Lots of pretty trees but not a great views. But you don't have to go far to find spectacular scenery. Stunning.

My hubby and 10 month old baby and I decided to leave a couple of days earlier for our vacation to stop in Anaconda on our way to Yellowstone. We called this place up and they were able to accommodate us in their lodge suite. This is an off grid place and a great fit for our family. We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night in February- there wasn't anyone else there on Thursday night and a handful of people showed up Friday night. So, it was quiet and peaceful. They stock the kitchen with the basics and ask that you not bring any electronic appliances (including hair dryers). Our coffee percolator did not percolate, but we went into town anyways, so we got coffee there. There are outlets and running hot water, which was very nice. Plus, there are electric heaters that really keep your room nice and cozy. The bed is comfortable and there are great views from this room. In this particular room, there is an open metal staircase. When upstairs our baby gate fit thankfully. Being downstairs was no problem for her. We definitely want to go back and bring some friends. Public land surrounds this place, so it's a great place to snow shoe, cross country ski, or snowmobile during the winter. Make sure to bring food & drinks. Also, there is no cell service which was really nice for us to unplug 🙂

Had a very enjoyable time minus check-in. Check-in is 4pm which is a hour later than most hotels which is fine but we were unable to check in until 5:30pm. It's nice that you can swim right away but to have a room to get set up in after a drive would
