We enjoyed our one night stay very much. The motel/lodge is under new ownership and the owner and his wife were friendly and helpful. They are taking great pride in improving the property and make a great team! Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The heat was quiet and easy to use, and the room was well insulated, so we were not disturbed by voices or noises from adjoining rooms or outside. There was a clean, simple continental breakfast available in the morning. There is an indoor pool on premises, but it was not open while we were there as they are doing some maintenance but is scheduled to open soon. The lodge portion has a pool table and sitting area which is spacious and comfortable. There is a beautiful river on the premises and a real nice view of Cannon Mountain from the hotel. This place is close to many local and popular attractions and restaurants. |If you are looking for a friendly, affordable, no frills, clean place to stay in the heart of the White Mountains of NH, we would highly recommend!

New Management rocks! Bhoomi and her team have taken over this motel a couple of months ago, and have plans to make it a beautiful place for year-round vacationing - for families, solo travellers, couples and events. We've been here twice in the last 2 weeks, and had exceptional, kind and warm welcome both times. The rooms were clean, beds very comfortable, ample pillows and towels and a lovely brook behind the motel. We enjoyed the quiet, and the sensational mountain views with a bonus complimentary breakfast. I highly recommend Stonybrook for its value, comfort and fabulous location! Can't beat that!

If you are looking for an affordable price on a calm place close to the river and with amazing owners who will take care of your need, it is the place. The bedrooms are much more like a chalet but it is lovely and clean. We appreciate the picnic table close to the water.

The room was warm and the shower was hot. The sheets were clean but the room could use freshening and brightening by painting the brown wall a pale grey Color as well as using white bedding and also changing the red and black window curtains to a light color. A deep cleaning is needed too. Focus should be on the mouse that feasts on the breakfast buffet donuts. He seemed quite familiar with the counter and scared me right to check out. I do hope the new owners succeed considering there is a lot work needed.

The worst stay I’ve ever had! Rooms are moldy, reek of smoke, holes in the wall, and paint peeling from the ceiling. I was supposed to stay 2 nights but after the first night I woke up at 2am having trouble breathing and ended up sleeping in my car. I asked for the second night refunded as the rooms were advertised as smoke free but clearly had been heavily smoked in. I understand they may have once been smoke friendly, but WOW. Went to the front desk and they refused to refund my second night or move me to another room so I simply left and found accommodations elsewhere. I do not usually write reviews, and I’m not usually afraid to stay anywhere as I’ve enjoyed hostel stays in remote areas and 3rd world countries, but this place made me physically sick! I see many recent reviews that look fake as well from the family that must have recently bought the place, just dishonest! I get it’s old, but it needs serious TLC.

Stony Brook is under new management and we were one of the first couples to stay here since the change. Our host was gracious, accommodating and very friendly. The room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. We will definitely come back in the future. We highly recommend them.
