Stony Cove Picnic Area and Beach - Picnic ground in Salt Lick - Stony Cove Rd, USA

This was a great place to cool off and enjoy the water! It's very clean, there are clean port o potties and it is a huge lake. The swimming area is very large as well. When you first come in, to the right there is a playground and walk about area and you can fish. Them to the left is the swimming and beach area and a little farther back there is a boat ramp. It was very rocky of course so if you have tender feet, bring water shoes. Gorgeous views, nice clean water and tons of to be had. There is no kayak and canoe launching allowed in this particular area.

Good for swimming in the Fall season. Although Zilpo Beach has been closed since Labor Day, you have a chance to swim here. The water was not that much clear but that's fine. There are a couple of benches and grills as well.

This is a late post. I visited the Stony Cove Picnic Area and Beach on 02-23-2023. This is a nice park with a nice boat ramp.

Very good place, nice views , we went on a rainy day, the scenery is ultimate.

A very nice place to use as a jumping off point for some biking adventures wrapped in some beautiful mountain views. It also offered a nice place to picnic and enjoy the views when we returned before the car ride home.

Nice but very rocky. There’s another area near here a few minutes away that’s much more suitable if picnicking or fishing with family

Have made quite a few visits to Stony Cove this semester as it seems like the most accessible part of Cave Run Lake on the Morehead side. There's a trail which I've only done some of as well as a pier. We have done some amazing astrophotography here as the night sky is extremely dazzling. You can see the milky way. We even saw Starlink from here once!
