I give 5 stars to support the nice lady who owns and runs the lodge and for the excellent value. We stayed in “The Bird” suite. The Stoney River Lodge is not a hotel per se, but if I had to make an equivalence to a chain, I would say The Bird is like a Travelodge motel with no air conditioning, multiple rooms and a kitchen. ||The Bird has two rooms; one is a bedroom with queen bed, and the other room has a second queen bed, a Roku TV and a small full kitchen. There are 4 wooden kitchen table chairs in The Bird, with no softer chairs and no desk. When we were in The Bird during the day (mostly we were out at the Rocky Mountain National Park, or in Estes Park), my son spent his time lying on the bed watching the Roku TV while I laid in the bedroom on my iPad.||There were also two box fans in The Bird. It got hot during the July week we were there. Do not think that it will be cool during the summer because it’s in the mountains. The hottest day when we were there was 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees C.), too hot for us to stay in the room, so we went down to Loveland from 6PM-9PM. I underestimated the heat (my fault) and I do not think I would stay again at The Stoney River Lodge in July or August.||Cell phone service was spotty but the free WIFI was excellent and WIFI calling worked fine.||The setting is nice next to the Big Thompson River (you can fish in it), but there is also Highway 34 beside the river and you will hear the vehicles driving; it’s a busy road.||There are no restaurants nearby; the closest are in Loveland around 20 minutes away. Estes Park is 25-30 minutes away. Keep in mind that these drives are twisting and turning with lots of major elevation changes. If you like that kind of drive then you will have fun. I found it fun the first few times, but after that it was not fun. If you are planning to visit Rocky Mountain National Park on multiple days, consider the convenience of staying in Estes Park vs the lower cost of staying at the Stoney River Lodge.

Great experience renting out this lodge near by Rockys (30mins). Cabin was tinny but really cleans and comfortable. You can sit by the river stream right by the lodge and enjoy evening coffee. We were welcomed with a welcome baskets with goodies. The hostess was really nice and answered all our questions. Would highly recommend.

If you want a somewhat rustic experience without sacrificing on the necessities like Wifi and a clean shower, while also being somewhere picturesque and accessible, I recommend this lodge. The manager was super accomodating when we got in early, and she was very helpful in general. The beds are clean and comfy. We stayed in the Bird room, and it has a super home-y feel. Like you are staying in a relative's guest cabin (if you have a relative with a cabin! Haha). The bathroom was spotless. The room doesn't have AC, but they provide fans, and you get a pretty good breeze through the windows. The scenery is AWESOME. The river runs right by the Bird room, and they have a built in firepit by the river. The river is loud enough to negate any road noise, so that is great if you are a light sleeper like I am. I will absolutely be back if we travel through here again.

Stayed here while we hiked in Rocky Mountain National Park. Greeted by the owner who wanted to make sure we were happy with the room prior to checking in. Everything was great and we loved it. Praying you all are safe with the Alexander fire.

The stoney river lodge is a great place to stop on the foot of the mountains and next to a small river. I used the river to bath in the morning and it was great and refreshing. The service was great and everyone was super friendly… a nice family owned business! They even sent a personalized Christmas card, 5 months after the stay. Awesome!! The rooms are clean and totally sufficient for a stay in the woods. The place itself at a lovely libation. It is simple and good! If you are looking for a luxury retreat, this is not your place. The time spent there was great and i would definitely come again!! Thanks a lot :)

We really enjoyed staying 2 nights here. We spent the days exploring at the Rocky Mountain National Park. We were personally greeted by the onwer who wanted to make our stay the best. She even left us some goodies to enjoy while we were there. It was a small room but had all that we needed. We were able to prepare some simple meals which we love to do while we are traveling. It wasn't airconditioned but fantastic to sleep with the windows open at night with need for our blanket! Very quiet. Very relaxing place to stay. We would go back whenever we return to the area.

This is a wonderful place to stay and spend time on the beautiful Thompson River in the mountains The rooms are very comfortable and are stocked with everything you need from sleeping to preparing meals. They even want you to look at the room before you check in to make sure you are satisfied with their accomodations. I have never been offered that option. The owners are very helpful with anything you need. We had trouble with phone reception and they personally helped us set up our phone service . The place is not fancy but very nice and clean if you are wanting to experience a location that has so much to offer and close to everything from towns to the Rocky Mountains. I look forward to coming back again .Do yourself a favor and stay there. 👍

Located about 20 minutes from Estes park. You may think this is a flaw, but what you get is a little slice of heaven. Beautiful MTN view across the street. A river flowing less than 75 yards from your front door bringing peaceful noise only the mountains know best. Nice "patio" by the river to enjoy the sounds n scenery. For a young "poor college couple", this was the perfect place. The cowboy room is a great 2 person. Microwave, 2 burner stove n a mini fridge was perfect. We could not find a hotel in July without spending $200 a night minimum . The lodge made the trip possible for us. The owner is very nice, walked room over with us, and made sure we were happy before signing/paying. When/ if we head to Colorado again. We will book here.

This place is awesome! My daughter and her best friend did a daily drop in and shoe rental. The girls climbed for a good two hours and had an absolute blast.
