Stonewood Grill & Tavern - American restaurant in University Park - 5415 University Pkwy, USA

Our server was great and very attentive to our needs. The drinks are decent. They fell a little short on the food. We came for the prime rib but it was sold out by 7 pm(we understand) we went with the Delmonico Ribeye. It could have been the chef that evening but for the price we paid the steak was not the best. My burger was very delicious but I was cheated on my fries got a kids meal portion my husband also barely had much sides with his $40 steak. Price is not the issue but i expected more out of what we paid for. Will try again and hopefully have a better experience

Main Question: Is the food here worth the money? Main Answer: Absolutely! I would like to make it clear of that anything that is criticized in this review still deserves five stars because regardless of my preference, the service, atmosphere, food and everything all together deserves more than five stars. Service: William, the server, made this visit an amazing visit and just wow! This gentleman was fantastic. If you decide to visit, ask if William is serving. I haven't had service like that at a restaurant in a very long time. Now, given that they were very slow and not busy at all, I understand the extra special service. However, he still did an amazing job that just was the icing on the cake. Food: I had a small side salad for which they made special for us with spinach leaves, red onions, croutons, cherry tomatoes, cut cucumbers and no dressing. This salad was fantastic. The onions were cut perfectly. The care that was taken for the cucumbers was absolutely outstanding. Not one peace of spinach lettuce was wilted. This salad is the salad other salad dream about becoming. My guest had a cheeseburger. It was cooked to perfection. He was very happy with it. I had both a French dip which was absolutely delicious. I will say that I asked for provolone cheese and I received Swiss cheese but that didn't stop the French dip from being delicious. I also had steamed broccoli with no butter. That was cooked perfectly. Now, the next part. The potatoes. The potatoes were way over whipped. You could tell that they were cooked too long. It didn't stop the taste from being very good but they were Pasty and not very visually appealing. Additionally, I was still hungry after the French dip so I ordered a deconstructed chicken pot pie. That meal came out within 2 minutes of ordering it and was amazingly fast. It, too, was absolutely delightful. We ordered pretzel bread. These pretzels were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Now here, I would have hoped that William, our server, would have picked up the hint that I didn't want any oil or butter on them when I specifically asked for none on my food but unfortunately that was not the case. So they did come with butter around the pretzels and salt but I would have preferred them with no butter or salt on the pretzels. I don't quite what the blame for that on William since I didn't ask if they had oil or salt on them but that information was not offered either. That did not stop them from being absolutely fantastic. Bathrooms: It was the end of the night and the bathrooms were still clean as can be. There was no toilet paper all over the floor or towels all over the floor. The garbage was empty. The counters were clean and not full of water or soap everywhere. This was a bathroom where the employees and management cares about their customers. Make sure to follow me.

Stonewood was a pleasant way to end our stay here in Sarasota. Thanks God this place had really good food. This is the first time I’ve tried Stonewood and will definitely stop by any of their other locations. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Water was served immediately and the waitress was very nice offering her suggestions of her favorites. Ordered the following: Buffalo shrimp - very good New England clam chowder - excellent Burgers - tasty burgers on a toasted bun - really good. Fish tacos - fish was perfectly season, tasted fresh, very good Orange cake - light & fluffy very good Homemade Key Lime Pie No complaints glad I tried it.

We went there for a birthday dinner for my stepdad. There were eight of us and the service was outstanding. Everybody's food was really good. I had a burger with some sort of bacon onion jam on it. It was really good. The meat itself was some of the best I've had. And the fries were good. The salmon on a cedar plank looks superb too.

Salad and dressing was very good. I was a little disappointed in my chicken sandwich. Nice atmosphere. Good service. I probably wouldn't come back though.

UPDATE: We just went again today and the food was still wonderful. The staff are very kind and helpful too. I had the French Dip Sandwich and my husband had the grilled cheeseburger and both were wonderful. We also had the sweet potato fries and they were cooked perfectly. We went there for a seminar luncheon but we had a choice of food. I ordered the Bistro Burger and it was very juicy and tasty. The sourdough bread it was on was also great except I'd prefer if it didn't have so much butter/ oil on it, it was greasier than I prefer but otherwise it was awesome.

Stonewood Grill has given a consistently good experience our last several visits. Food and service have been good to very good. I really like the oak grilled salmon here and the chocolate bread pudding is amazing. Will definitely return.

We had a great dinner, entertaining friends from out of town. Our server William was excellent. He refilled drinks immediately and was attentive and friendly.
