Stayed in cabin #5, very well maintained and just a short distance to the shore. Owner was easy to work with and accommodating to our later check in. My only complaint is the lack of a coffee table in the living room, we had to use dining chairs as a "table" to play games and set our drinks. Would stay here again though!
Cabin 6 is where we stayed. I'm going to start with the not so good stuff. In floor heat did not seem to work, not did the gas heat as the gas was off. The plug in fan had every blade broken and should've been tossed. We could hear the upstairs guests movement clearly. The booklet in the room could also use an update as it advertises a different checkout time. All these things aside, we enjoyed our time here. The cabin itself has most amenities you would expect. The place itself is excellent and has a spectacular view. It was quiet and isolated, just what we needed. Next time I will stay in a cabin without an adjoining space.
We are just finishing up our second year of staying at Stone Gate. Cabin 8 is amazing. Open the windows at night and you can hear the waves crash on the shore. The cabins are spotless, well stocked, and steps from the lake. Also, the location is perfect! Close to Duluth and Two Harbors.
Stonegate is the perfect spot on Lake Superior. There are a variety of different cabins all with private baths, decks, access to the rocky shore, and peace and quiet. Cabin One is right on the water with a huge picture window. Full kitchens in which to make yourself at home. Very warm hosts to check you in and then leave you alone. These are housekeeping cottages- meaning you keep house. Easy enough to clean up on your way out, remove garbage, and leave the deep clean to the hosts. My cabin was very clean and comfortable.
These are cabins, not a campground. It's a beautiful location but it's very hard to build a fire with wet kindling...and this close to Lake Superior, it's all going to be wet unless the proprietor supplies it or the patron packs kindling with them. ||Our cabin had a full kitchen, pots/pans & a bottle of dish soap...but nothing to scrub the dirty pots with except a flimsy cloth. It made for a lot of work to get the pots clean. Just give us a dish scrubber! ||It's a special, unique place but the website gives very little info about what's supplied and what is not. I was surprised there were two coffee filters but no coffee, matches to light the fire but nothing to use for roasting marshmallows or hot dogs...having a kitchen inventory on the website would be helpful.
Fantastic cabin number 4. Kendra was great. We love being on the North shore and this was exactly what we needed. Loved it.
This was a special "birthday weekend " celebration, and Stonegate on Superior made our time there wonderful and memorable!! Thank you for all your personal attention to details!
Cabin #1 is about 50 feet from the cool water of Lake Superior. The gigantic picture window provides fabulous views. If you're lucky to be here in a noreaster, lake waves will regularly splash the window. If it's good weather then there is a nice deck to enjoy the sun and sounds. Can't get much more than this.

Such a great place for the quick getaway with the spouse. I will always come back to this little slice of heaven on the North Shore. The best accommodations and such cute amenities. Not too far from Gooseberry Falls, Two Harbors, Split Rock Light Hou
Stayed here only for a night during a trip to Northern MN and highly regret not staying longer. The vibe is more of a family home than a hotel and Jeff and Cyndi make sure to ensure all their guests feel welcome and fully comfortable. Rooms were spa
I am not sure the North Shore is meant to be visited during winter/early spring since a lot of places are closed, roads are snowed in, and trails are inaccessible. However, there is a stark beauty to the area this time of year that I find compelling.
We will be back. Kids menu up to age 10. The pies alone are worth the drive. A bit on the higher dollar side of things. Salmon Sandwich was good. Kid's pizza was also good. Looking forward to our return to try a few other dishes on the menu. Th
Was very nice to see the old trains and a lot of things in the musium! Well worth the $5 price of admission. The trains outside are worth a visit year round with no admission.
Loved this place. Great view of the water once we were upgraded. Seemed silly how they kept trying to first sell us on the "scenic view of the parking lot" ... like ... come on... our first room was described as cozy and we couldn't get a straight an
