It's so beautiful here. I did not see any Herons today, but I plan to come back. 1 mile of ADA compatible, clean, and well maintained trail. Small bridges add to the beauty. Plenty of parking. Check time and months they are open before visiting.
A small but mighty natural space to spend an hour meandering in that is easy to access. Plenty of parking, paved paths so very stroller, wheelchair, and kid friendly, lots of native plants, good signage, and a small play area for kiddos. Plus a bathroom. Will definitely return during different seasons to experience the changes! No dogs/pets.
Cute place to stretch your legs for a quick stroll and listen to all the birds. I'm a pretty slow walker and it took me about 15 minutes to circle around the park. Keep in mind this is only supposed to be a looking area for us humans. It's truly a sanctuary for wildlife away from us, and I appreciate that wholeheartedly. My favorite feature of the reserve (aside from the nature itself of course) were the little animal foot prints all around the sidewalk on the northern part of the trail. Also if you're into playing Pokémon Go, this place is loaded with Pokémon at every turn.
After seeing the pictures I brought my mom here to look around. I thought it was going to be beautiful...however it was just the opposite. The weeds are over grown...the water....you cannot even see it..because there is a plant of some kind that has taken over... Clearly no one is taking care of the place...too bad...it once was beautiful...by the looks of the pictures. There were many birds singing...it was wonderful...and the walk was to walk was great. If you like to walk and listen to birds this would be a good place to go.
A small intimate park with tons of wildlife. Saw lots of red winged blackbirds, barn swallows, tree swallows, western fence lizards. I even saw a garter snake, a red eared slider, and a western pond turtle. There are some plants that are labeled with names and some parts of the cement pathway have prints of animals and plants. There is also an amphitheater. When I went there memorial day at 11am, there was nobody in the parking lot but when I left at 1pm there were a few others. It's a pretty small park so 2 hours would honestly be thr max time here but for people who don't birdwatch, you can walk around in 30 minutes. It's not exactly society's definition of a "beautiful" park but it's native CA plants that allow wildlife to thrive here.
Great brunch with the birds. Super short hiking trails. Wish there were some longer ones. Great staff and interesting birds to see. Bring binoculars. Must stay on the paved trails. It’s illegal not to. Nice amphitheater area to sit in. There is a neat section of the coyote loop that was cemented later in the day so it has a lot of neat tracks in it. You can tell the coyote stepped in and backed up. The rabbit went through but slipped halfway. Some birds tried and turned around. The fox went through. That was the coolest part for me.
Took a nice walk on Thanksgiving day. Will MOST definitely come back for tours and kayaking. Saw a little dark brown ferret sleeping at the base of the reeds and 5 Sandhill cranes!
The trails are shorter... seems like a park than a refuge... may be other parts of the refuge was not yet developed.. nice walk though...

This shop is a hidden gem, at least it was hidden from me until recently. They have an excellent selection of sealed product as well as singles (cards). Pricing on the singles was more than fair, cheaper than online. The event space is large, clean a
Highly recommend. Super cute and intimate place. Dishes were delicious. Best deviled eggs I've ever had. Service was incredible. We had an amazing dinner.
My dad found this playground over by the Elk Grove Aquatic Center, and all I can say is that it's epic! Between the play structures and pond alone, my 3 year old had a blast feeding the ducks and climbing up that hill to the rope tunnel and slide. On

Love this park! The water features are awesome and my partners kids always have a blast here. There's 2 playgrounds, 1 for toddlers and 1 bigger one for older kids. 1 baseball field and lots of open grass. Couple picnic tables under the gazebo.
