Our room was roomy and clean. The location is great - close to the beach, close to Diamond Peak skiing. The place is old but for the price - it's great. BUT the very best thing is the manager/owner Neil. Super friendly, willing to help with anything and everything. We had a snafu with some booking service and Neil helped us. Book directly - don't use a booking service, they are difficult to work with and add a bunch of fees.
Our stay was great. Booked a room on the spot for under $200 a night on a weekend. The room itself its not a luxury stay but its a nice stay where you feel like you are at your grandmas house, feels homey. You have everything you need. In addition, the rep at the front desk Niel was so accommodating, big ups to him! Would definitely stay here again.
Rooms are outdated and smell funky. No AC, but there was a box fan in the room. Bed wasn’t very comfy, couple of bugs in the bathroom. Hair on the sheets, asked them to change them and they did. Decently friendly staff. Amazing location, Kings Beach is really cool. Probably wouldn’t stay here again, but it was hard to pass up the price, although you definitely get what you pay for.
I travel a lot and usually stay in the cheapest motel I can find. Unfortunately this one gets the award of worst motel so far. The main issue is the hygiene, my fridge had food from the previous guest, in the toilet their soap still there with hair, and hair on the wall. No one has cleaned this bathroom. The toilet clogged and the shower as well with a mega ball of hair. The shower barely works. Walls full of stains and holes, no proper door, you have a thin glass window. This place looks like it was awesome 40 years ago. Now one night might be too many. It may be the cheapest hotel in the area, but for what it is, still too expensive.
Snowstorm came through the day of my travel. Roads were closed. No way to get there. Called the owner to cancel. He was one of the rudest person I ever talked to! How dare I cancel on the day of check-in! Yelled at me and wouldn't let me talk. He said he was watching the weather for 2 weeks. So did I. This snowstorm was not forecast until the last minute! Wouldn't stay there ever!
Reserved room was a stinky disaster. Smelled like a moldy basement plus a strong odor of cleaners. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this dump of a motel.
This place is great! Kind and friendly staff. Clean room, comfy bed, quiet. A little dated but didn’t bother us at all. And such a great place. Highly recommend.
Really disgusting run down place. The carpet felt really gross. There was hair all over the bed sheets. Everything was very dirty and run down. I actually had to place all my belongings on the wooden furniture and left the rest in my car for fear that I would catch nasty bed bugs or other gross things. I could not sleep through the night. I would not stay here even if it was free. I really don't understand the good reviews on here.
We recently stayed at the Crown Motel for 3 nights at the end of November. Highly recommend this hotel for the amazing views, value, and friendly service from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. Our room was comfortable and impeccably clean. Th
