Isabel was amazing to have the patience to put up with us. Steiners does everything well. The food is delicious, ambience is superb and service as I mentioned is top notch. Just pick this place if you don't know where to dine out in Austin or want to impress visitors
Steiner Ranch Steakhouse is a nice steakhouse with fine dining prices. It's more of a rustic country decor (with old country and western background music) than fine dining experience. The location has a great view of Lake Travis and is easy to get to with ample parking. We went just after Sunday brunch for an early dinner and were seated with no waiting at a table with a good view of the lake. Our server, Roland, was very friendly and attentive. Since it was our first time there, Roland recommended that we order the Texan Ribeye, which we both did. We were told that they undercook their steaks, so if we wanted medium-rare, we should order medium. It seems a little strange that a "high-end" steakhouse undercooks their steaks, but we were happy the server let us know. Although we always order medium-rare, we both ordered our steaks medium. My steak was great and came out a perfect medium-rare, but my wife's steak was overcooked. They cooked her another one that the manager delivered, and it was undercooked. They took it back and cooked it longer, and it was fine (not great), but I had finished my meal at that point. The manager did comp my wife's meal. We appreciated that they took responsibility for not cooking her steak correctly, but it was a disappointing experience. If we're going to spend $65 for a steak, we expect it to be cooked perfectly the first time, especially at a high-end steakhouse. We also ordered the Calamari & Artichoke appetizer. The calamari was very tender but overly breaded for our taste. We didn't care for the artichoke hearts. We didn't look at the wine menu, but I did order a glass of the house merlot with my meal. The wine was fine, but I was shocked to see that they charged $27 for a glass of house wine. It was my fault for not asking when I ordered it, but the cost is just ridiculous. Overall, the dinner fell short of our expectations, and we will not return.
The food, wine, and service were amazing! We arrived just after the Sunday brunch, and it was nice and pleasant. The recommendations were spot on. We went with specials off the menu, and we were not disappointed. There is so much food on the plates, worth th price.
During my recent visit to Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, I was treated to a meal that was as delightful to the palate as it was to the eyes. The steak was cooked to perfection, with a seared crust that sealed in all the flavorful juices, achieving that ideal balance of tenderness and taste. Accompanying the steak, the green beans were a fresh counterpoint, cooked al dente, which brought a nice, crisp texture to the meal. The loaded baked potato was a symphony of classic toppings, each bite rich and comforting. Coupled with a cold beer, this meal was a reminder of what a classic American steakhouse experience should be – utterly satisfying. A hearty commendation to Steiner Ranch Steakhouse for a memorable dinner.
Service was really good, there were some small issues but overall a really great time. I had the ribeye, which was 10/10, this is a great place to host an intimate event with colleagues.
Server at the bar: Rachel
3 beers
Gin and Vodka Martini
The Martini was made beautifully, could not have asked for a better drink, or a better server. She answered all questions I had and I never had an empty drink.
Chef: Anthony
Although I didn't eat the food he was making, I got to watch him work, and he is very much a master of his craft, and it was a pleasure watching him handle the crowd he was working with. He kept a consistent pace, and is obviously good at what he does.
Dinner server: Justice
She definitely left a good impression. Walked me through the menu and made recommendations when asked. She made sure I was thoroughly taken care of, and was very attentive to everything I ordered, giving me updates when it would be a little bit. Nothing took long at all, so that was just great service
Dinner:
Caesar salad
Crab stuffed mushrooms
6oz A5 Japanese Wagyu steak (shown certificate, shipped from Japan) with potatoes and bacon wrapped asparagus
Lobster Mac and cheese
Lava cake, with vanilla ice cream, blueberries, raspberries, pecans, powdered sugar, and whipped cream
I don't know who made my dinner, but they are great at what they do, and I would be hard pressed to find a reason to give them less than 5 stars. Everything was made and given to me at perfect increments.
All in all, this place deserves no less than 5 stars. All of the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They all know what they do very well.
I highly recommend making reservations to make sure you can eat here, it is worth the trip.
Great time. We sat next to the fire in the main room. Live piano music was playing as well. Great food. The fried flounder was incredible and stayed crispy even. Little pricey on food but was very good, the wine list is extensive but has 300% markup. Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere.
We were in the area and decided to call ahead to check the wait. We made a reservation for inside seating. When we were taken to our table we changed our minds since it was a little noisy in the area. We were accommodated and moved to outside seating. I'm so glad we were. It was a little chilly outside but so peaceful. I had the medallion trio and we also had Oscar asparagus as an appetizer. My best friend had the filet mignon. Our food was delicious!! The service we received from the young lady who seated us was so friendly and professional. Brandi was our server and she was phenomenal!!! I was impressed by Brandi's knowledge of the menu. She brought a heater at our request and even changed the propane! Brandi went above and beyond to make our dining experience comfortable and enjoyable. Kudos to the staff!!
