My family and I have been coming to the Steamboat house and surrounding park area which includes the duck pond, for many years. It is our favorite place to walk our dog and bring grands to feed the ducks. It’s a must see when they have General Sam Houston Day! They have all the buildings open and people in period dress with demonstrations of life back then.
Really cool place to see! I was told that Sam Houston died in the room directly beneath the upstairs parlor where his funeral service was held. Very old house and very much more charming!
Really cool bit of history. Definitely go walk the grounds and look inside the buildings.
This historic house is the last place Sam Houston lived and died. The house is set up where you can look in and see the rooms but cannot go inside. The house is apart of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum grounds and is located close to several of his other homes and or historical buildings that have been wonderfully preserved. Highly recommend stopping and taking a look. And fun fact: The Sam Houston State University class rings all spend a night in The Steamboat the night before the ring ceremony.
Great guide! Amazing history lesson!
Sam Houston park in central Huntsville is. Very nice, multiple exhibits, the museum, a great festival in April and the pond with all the ducks etc is fantastic
The houses that belonged to Sam Houston are beautiful all should go see them in Huntsville it's a lovely park and Historic place to visit
Love this park. Great place to sit and have lunch or just walk around. Gift shop is cool too with clean restrooms.
Great place to visit! So much history and information. This museum is self-tour, but employees were there to support and answer any questions. Visiting the museum was a sobering experience because freedom is not free.
My son and I had great week of fishing, playing cards, catching up, etc, but on one trip to go see a movie, he saw a sign for Sam Houston's grave site and wanted to see it before going back to his home several hours away. Very interesting grave yard
A neat little spot for a dose of Americana. It's a good photo opportunity, and the grounds are pretty cool to stroll through. There is plenty of seating and things to look over. A good leg stretch if you're heading through Huntsville.
My husband and I love this off road park. So many trails to check out and is so much fun after it has rained. Staff is very nice and helpful. The owners definitely take care of this place. I wish there were more trails, but considering, itâs still
