I'm going to preface this by saying that prior to 2020, this hotel was extremely nice and very well maintained. Unfortunately, since then it's gone down in quality quite a bit.||Now last year my wife and I stayed here. Not a horrible experience, but not the best either. The breakfast service was quite easily the worst experience we've ever had. The person working it was more interested in her phone than helping people. When I found out this year that she wasn't there, I figured there was hope! I was disappointed.||The food was never exactly the best, but this year it was even worse. But the main problem was the inability to keep the pans filled, as well as keeping the coffee canisters filled. it wasn't so busy that they couldn't keep up. It just felt like poor planning. But in the 2 mornings we were there, there was never any bread nor anything to make waffles. They really need to get someone to run it properly.||Oddly enough, breakfast wasn't the worst of it. It was so bad that my wife and I checked out early to head home from the State Fair, rather than spend another night being uncomfortable.||The things that didn't go well:||Check in. I had booked a king. Granted, I was early, but I was fine with waiting. Eventually, we "settled" on a double queen, but we came back down when we discovered the AC was not working. More waiting and then our room was ready! Yay! More disappointment as it turned out to be a queen. By then trying to get another room was out of the question because of the line at the desk.||The issue with the room was there was no closet, just a rack. No hangers on the rack either. There was also no luggage rack.||The AC worked, but you couldn't adjust it. So we were stuck with 73°. ||The room was on the first floor. So street noise was noticeable and one night people seemed to delight in pounding on our window.||The bathroom had many broken and discolored tiles. Plus the shower must've been designed for a wheelchair, but whenever you used it, the water went into the bathroom itself. This was a very dangerous situation as the floor was quite slippery.||We only had two micro pillows on the bed. The two together would be the size of one regular pillow.||Finally, never once did we get the room cleaned or get fresh towels (we only had 2). To be honest, I never saw anyone cleaning a room.||Overall, just a very BAD experience. If not for the location, I would've given it 1 star.

This is a lovingly restored 60's mid-century modern hotel. The location is decent, just wish there was dining closer. The room was very clean and fresh, staff was helpful and efficient. Enjoyed a pleasant stay there at a bargain rate.

Came here to attend the state fair. Now i dont know much about Springfield, but im going to go out on a limb and say the state fair is the most excitement this city gets all year. That said, you would assume all hotels in the area would be fully prepared. Not State House! ||We arrived at 3 to a lobby full of people. Turns out no one could get a room because they "werent ready". Told to come back in an hour. This was the night of the Motley Crue concert so the majority of people were going to that. The one guy at the desk (i think his name was Sid?) was completely overwhelmed and the longer this went on the people got angrier and angrier. 4pm rolls around and still no rooms. People start yelling that they have had reservations since April and they want their room now (we prepaid our room back in June so i get it). ||We finally get the room at 530. The room was clean-ish but you could tell it was rushed. ||Pros: the a/c was amazingly cold and the floor we were on was quiet. Location is very central for getting almost anywhere in the city with minimal effort. Ample parking.||Cons: aside from the check in debacle - The room had no soap, no extra toilet paper, not enough towels and one pillow was unusable because it had no pillowcase. I didnt expect it, after our check in experience, but no attention was given to the room for the whole four days we were there. The fitness room was gross and dirty. No cups for the water, TV didnt work, no wipes for the machines. Missing hand weights. Included breakfast was terrible looking and i didnt touch it. ||And i know this is not the current owners fault but WHY would you build a hotel with ZERO windows facing the capital? What a brain dead decision.||I feel bad for the workers because they had to deal with a situation that was not their fault, but next time i attend the state fair i wont be staying here.

Read the reviews! I have requested a full refund. I stayed 2 nights and I had to leave early on both mornings. I was charged on a separate credit card that was requested when I arrived and not on the one that I provided when I booked the room. There was zero communication provided and I never received an email, phone call, or bill. Breakfast was not available on the first morning. I had to get breakfast at Wyndham. On the second morning, it was opened late and it was mostly empty. Good luck getting customer service, because they hide and leave the front desk unattended. We received no room service and we didn't have enough towels. I had to drop off my room key during checkout because there was nobody on the front desk while there were many customers waiting with complaints. The phone was ringing with nobody answering. Worst of all, the charge was higher than when I booked with no communication as to why. I will be reporting this business, but please stay away. It's not even cheap. There is zero reason to put up with this kind of business.

A one-night stopover on our way to another city. Hotel was generally nicer than expected. There are a few walking-distance options for meals - although the immediate area around the Statehouse is undergoing quite a bit of construction. Hotel staff was wonderful; property has undergone updates and feels modern. Like many older properties, there is a lot of leak-through noise. Breakfast had several options.

I do NOT recommend staying here! The hotel is disgracefully managed and has only a skeleton crew. The staff were very nice and as helpful as they could be, but in our 3 nights there, (we were part of a group with numerous rooms), we only saw the same 3 employees trying to cover day and night - so at night only one employee with one of the other ones on call. (There was a 4th person in the daytime who only appeared to vacuum the entryway.) The bathroom floor was filthy, filthy! We had to ask for more towels even though the room was booked for two people. ( tending was not an option.) The refrigerator didn't work, and they did replace it in a timely manner, but you could tell no one had tended to the room or checked the refrigerator for a long time. The air conditioner stopped working in all of our rooms several times and it was very hot weather. If you're on the west side of the building, the "stadium" size security light shines right in your window so no enjoying a sunset or night sky. Sad to see this hotel, that once was a vibrant place next to the state capital, being so poorly tended.

Positives: Location, cold AC in rooms, good elevators, free parking. Negatives: (1) TRIPLE CHARGED on my AMEX. I'm having to work with my travel agency to get it figured out because the voicemail box for the "manager" is full. (2) Kitchen staff did not show so we had no hot breakfast. I had to ask at the front desk at 7:05am what the deal was. There was no sign or anything in the breakfast room—just empty hot food dishes. We did not even have milk for cereal. The guy bringing out unwrapped pastries was moving them around with his bare hands. The coffee and hot water carafes were unlabeled. (3) The hallways are very hot and humid (no AC in hallways?). (4) Ice machine on my floor is broken. (5) My colleagues were missing hair driers and clothing irons in their rooms.

Zero stars is more fitting. I arrived for a conference around 330 and they told me the rooms were not clean and to give them a second while they go check. No worries. I wait 10 minutes they give me a room, I go upstairs and I hear water running and the toilet is over flowing in this room they just gave me. I pick up the toilet lid and it’s full of toilet paper and very obviously not clean. I wash my hands and go downstairs to tell them. They give me a new room. Perfect! Until they call my new room and ask if I used the bathroom and caused it to do this. Since they saw the soap open and a towel in the sink. Of COURSE I washed my hands after touching someone’s over flowing toilet!? My new room has hair on the shower walls. There is pink stains on the comforter. The place is an absolute mess. I don’t know if this hotel is just understaffed or just doesn’t care but I would never stay here again. What an awful experience.

I love this place ! Just have one minor complaint; they recently got rid of jalapeños and stopped cutting their veggies into smaller pieces - so the chunks are bigger. I usually add jalapeños when I get home and cut my veggies.

Nice people, great coffee (that they roast themselves) and a relaxing atmosphere! They have more than just vanilla for sugar free syrups too! The sugar free white chocolate was yummy. The cream cheese Danish was fresh, tasty and enough for 2 to share

This is an old city experience that reminded me of neighborhoods in old east coast cities like Boston or Philadelphia. It's a quiant neighborhood bar and restaurant with the atmosphere of a 90 year old place that hasn't changed very much. Loved it. T
