Starr Family Home State Historic Site - History museum in Marshall - 407 W Travis St, USA

Very nice gem of Texas history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answer all of our questions. They have amazing pieces (antiques) that bring you back to the 1800 and how life and customs were at that time. They have a family fee which is great when you are traveling with kids. There is gift shop and beautiful gardens for pictures. So grateful to the Starr family for opening their home to us to learn about Texas history.

I just have always enjoyed historic homes preserved and opened to enjoy. You get a real sense of what it was like during that period. This home was built in 1870. It is well preserved. The staff is wonderful. I will definitely come back again and share with friends and family.

I was so impressed with the condition of the house and so many original artifacts. Rachel is a wonderful host and so friendly. I would encourage you to stop by if you are in the area.

This is such an awesome place to visit, it's just gorgeous inside and the grounds are beautiful. It truly makes you feel like you've stepped back in time and escaped the hustle and bustle of the modern world. The staff are excellent, too, very kind, engaging, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Marshall.

Nice place to spend an hour or so if you have time. History of the house and owners is very interesting. We went first thing Sunday AM and had the house to ourselves. Our guide was very knowledgeable and really enjoyed listening to her speak about the house.
