This was quite a tastey place to go for lunch. The food was filling, but didn't leave me feeling stuffed. This is by no means an upscale place. You can definitely see the wear throughout. But, it just adds to the charm and authenticity of the place. The food was extraordinarily good. I tried a pickle soup (available Saturdays), and I just about was in heaven. I have never tried anything like it, and now crave it like you wouldn't believe. I also enjoyed the side of sauerkraut which I believe was sweetened with some apple, as well as a sauerkraut salad that was surprisingly refreshing. The desert menu looked nice, but I was too full to try anything.

Absolutely delicious. My guy & I hit this spot last year saying we'll be back. Here we go again this time with friends. The service, atmosphere, alcohol & non alcohol beverages, food & dessert options are awesome with great prices too. Again, we'll be back!

It looks humble on the outside, but the food here is top notch. Great Polish food everytime. Very home cooked feel.

In New Britain we have a large section of the city called Little Poland. There are several businesses that cater to our Polish community and boy is it wonderful. The food was delicious! If you are looking for a Polish Heritage meal, come check this place out! It is a hometown feel and great atmosphere. We had a great time!

We had our first dining experience at this wonderful little local Polish restaurant in New Britain. My husband and I split the Polish platter, which included a soup or salad (we ordered the sorrel soup), 3 perogi's, kielbasa, mashed potatoes, stuffed cabbage, hunters stew and a large crispy potato pancake. Everything was amazing! We had never had sorrel soup before and were pleasantly surprised. Portions were generous & this platter was plenty for two of us. Our waitress was great and seemed genuinely interested in how we were enjoying our meals. We will definitely be back.

Some of the best polish food out of Poland. Come taste it for yourself. The food is amazing with good portions. Great staff and quick service. A place that should be added to every trip if you're in the area. A place I'll be adding to a trip every time.

went there the first time and it’s also our first time trying Polish food. We got the hot wings as appetizer and then Polish platter with red borscht with dumpling. Everything were really good! we will definitely come back!

12/24/23 I got a PM from Don P suggesting lunch at Staropolska in New Britski (guess how New Britain got THAT nickname). Great call m'friend! I have no experience with Polish cuisine so I asked a couple of Polish friends if the food here was authentically Polish and was met with a resounding "YES!". We met there at the appointed time and walked in. They weren't terribly busy at 11:45 AM when we got in, but it was hopping just 15-20 minutes later with the lunch crowd filtered in. We promptly seated ourselves and were soon greeted by a lovely young lady with a light Polish accent. A good sign, I thought. She took our drink orders and gave us time to peruse the menu. I'd already made my choice from their on line menu. I decided upon a bowl of mushroom soup to start and the beef and pork meatball combo w/mushroom gravy and a side of potato pancake at Don's suggestion, and cole slaw. Don had a cup of the same mushroom soup and the the country spare ribs with potato pancake. Oh dear Lord! The mushroom soup! Indescribably, incredibly fantastic. Earthy, beefy, lots of mushrooms and a perfect broth. Easily the highlight of a grand lunch. This would be a hard act to follow, but those meatballs with mushroom gravy gave that soup a run for it's money! The potato pancake was "ok", a little greasy and certainly not the highlight but then it was easily overshadowed by the soup and meatballs. One star knocked off for the less than satisfactory potato pancake. Service was perfect and prompt. Ambience was clean and bright but otherwise unremarkable combined with somewhat limited seating. I can see now why it's been declared "best Polish food in Connecticut", though no doubt others would argue the point....they always do. Thank you Don P for the lunch and the great choice of places to dine!
