Okay.
Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way: I would NOT stay at this hotel until they do some MAJOR structural work to prevent flash flooding from affecting their parking lot, and the first floor rooms.
We stayed here, our car was totaled by a flash flood. Our room flooded as well, but fortunately we lost no personal property. Insurance handled our car loss. That's not the fault of the hotel, or the owners.
The Staff here was exemplary. They got us moved to an upper room, supplied us with water and did everything they could to make sure we were safe and okay. When we first arrived, our AC wasn't really working and they had a maintenance worker come by who wound up replacing the whole unit. On a Sunday no less! The staff here was great.
The Hotel itself...as in the structure and the current state of it is pretty poor. It seems prone to flash flooding, and it's happened before we stayed (we had black feet from walking on the 1st floor room carpets, before the flood) and it's clear they cleaned the rooms, but did nothing to prevent it happening again. It's also important to note, this all happened as new ownership had just taken over. Maybe in a year or so these issues might be solved.
One thing is certain: this hotel needs MAJOR rehab work to prevent this kind of stuff in the future. I wouldn't stay here again any time soon, and if I did...I would insist on the second floor.
My requirements are pretty simple. Clean, secure without paying an arm and a leg. The Starlight Inn (formally Americas Best Value Inn) does all three. This is where I choose to stay on my frequent trips into Joshua Tree NP. I've stayed in other motels in the area and this is my go to. Good location with a supermarket, dollar store and fast food within walking distance. The rooms are clean, the bathroom roomy, the wifi is fast and comes with a small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. The staff especially Cameron are very helpful, professional and pleasant. Also my requests for an earlier check in have always been honored and lastly I don't think (I know) you wont find a better price than the Starlight Inn for what it offers, a major reason for me coming back again and again.
Cameron was awesome accommodating me when I told him the TV was inoperable in my room and got it fixed lickety split. Also had excellent communication and customer service skills. 👍 Room was much bigger than I anticipated with a stove top and micro wave and fridge with a lil breakfast table as well. Bed was very comfy. Thx guys for a good job.
Positive: It was a nice size room with great amenities. We were relocated to the other hotel since ours had no working TV and would be on the 2nd floor. I very much appreciate the lady for helping us out. Negative: I called to complain about a loud television thinking it was upstairs. The clerk said he'd take care of it. One hour later nothing happened so went to the person's door myself. Ended up being downstairs. The young lodger respected my wishes but after too Negative: ""
The room was OK. It was clean when I arrived, but the jacuzzi was missing all the knows to be able to use it, the smoke detector was beeping all night my first night, the pffice was always closed you had to go next door to Oasis Inn and Suites for check in/out, the coffee shop in the office area was never open and housekeeping never came through 1 time my entire 8 days there. The first few days I had do not disturb, but I ended up setting my trash outside because I never received housekeeping. The parking lot is cramped. Very tight spaces. However, this is located very nicely in the area.
This was terrible! Bugs everywhere, even in our room! Checked in and immediately left because we couldn’t sleep in a room with bugs. I get the price was affordable, but would it kill them to get some damn bug spray. Just awful
Worst place to stay In 29. Dirty and drug filled. Garbage everywhere. Staff as high as the guest. Really bad owner who could care less how their property is. ||This is not a place to have childern, really unless. No security at night. ||Don't forget about the bedbugs
Over the years of visiting JTNP I've stayed at a number of places in Joshua Tree and 29 Palms and have found Americas Best Value Inn to be just that, the best value. All I require in an accommodation really is it to be clean and secure and Americas Best provides just that and a bit more. It's located close to the road (Utah Trail) that leads to the north entrance to the park and is within walking distance to a couple of restaurants, fast food, a supermarket and even a Dollar Tree. The beds are firm with a bunch of pillows and the bathroom is roomy with a good shower. Also a small refrig, a microwave, coffee maker and fast WiFi make for a very consistent and enjoyable stay. If there's a better bang for the buck close to the national park and there are more expensive places to stay I haven't found it and that's not for the lack of looking. A good location, secure, clean with a very pleasant accommodating staff (shout out to Cameron on the front desk) . . . that's what keeps me coming back knowing I will not be disappointed, after a half a dozen stays I haven't yet and don't see as I will in my future stays. **** Signing up and booking online through Redlion.com you can earn Hello Bucks that you can apply to your next stay, I saved $20 on my last stay ($56.21) and have accrued another $20 worth of Hello Bucks for my next stay. No other booking site comes close. I hope this can be of some use to any of my fellow travelers looking for a nice place to stay when visiting Joshua Tree National Park.||||

Wife and I have stayed here half a dozen times over the years. It's our favorite location in the Joshua Tree area, and far surpasses any experiences we have had in the Joshua Tree and 29 Palms areas. The proximity to the East entrance of the park mak
Great place to camp for climbers. The Rangers are real sticklers about site reservations and ticketing people but the area IA beautiful. The chasm of doom at night is so fun and watching the sun set from the space station is an experience like no oth
Wonderful experience! Ribeye was cooked to perfection, and my wife's Caesar salad was delicious as well (I stole some ð). It was our anniversary, so they did a complementary toast and dessert. We will definitely be back, if you're ever in 29 Pa

We had a tour today. Thanks to the Ranger and the Caretakers, it was delightful. The simple life is not what it sounds like, Mr Keys and his family worked hard! It's good to see life in the old west.
