Starkville Inn & Suites - Hotel in Starkville - 1121 MS-182, USA

I'm being super generous with the 1 star but if I could I would give it zero stars. This place was under construction which was okay for me . In the room there was a pull out bed in the couch that was moldy and wouldn't pull out. They were nice enough to bring us a roll away bed and the place was just really dirty especially the hallway. The lighting was poor and we found a hypodermic needle in the sink. My stay wasn't good and I don't plan on coming back.

So the the boss decided to fired the executive over something that the deals with the workers under her and upper management. Every review I have read says something about the hotel being under-construction, dirty pools, and etc. so let’s talk about how this hotel have no maintenance man; barley can keep workers, workers walks off the job but get the jobs back because upper management says it but the person does it again and still get their job back but you wish to fire you executive who helped brought the hotel back up to the most keeping. When it was wasn’t nothing her and 2 more peoples cleaning 22+ rooms a day but never received no type of recognition for the hard. Trying her best to hire good workers but they always walk out on her. Half of the time customer be lying about how the rooms. Just firing someone over what some comments say is unacceptable and very discriminating. It wasn’t no meeting called or nothing. Just called and said to Fire her but you not there to see the actual workers do their jobs like they suppose too. Pay rate is only $10 an hour every two weeks is very ridiculous, no type health benefits, no 401k.

Zero stars is not an option. I would avoid this hotel at any cost. Their signs state under construction, but there are no visible signs of construction, only disrepair and gross neglect. There is no evidence they have a vacuum. The pool is out of order, the gym is under construction, these amenities should not be advertised. The room advertised a pull out sofa bed. however the frame was rusted and the mattress was covered in white mold and could not be pulled out. The concierge did not offer us an alternative, he only stated that they had no other rooms available, and that I would have to contact Expedia if I wanted a refund. We had to ask for a roll away bed. The room was in disrepair and dirty. We even found a hypodermic needle in the sink. The air conditioner is cold even though the grate is covered in dust and mold, The shower/tub appeared to be clean, had hot water with decent pressure, But there were holes in the wall and drywall dust in chunks on the edge of the shower and on the floor. The toilet seat was broken and could double as a guillotine, and the toilet paper holder was even broken. And beware, there is no door stop on the bathroom door, so if you open it all the way, the lock button is pressed against the wall and will lock you out of the bathroom. Our roll of toilet paper had to double as a doorstop to keep from being locked out of the bathroom. The limited breakfast in the morning was fair if you like carbs. I was unable to check out in the morning because no one was available at the desk for hours, and no one answered the phone. There is no nighttime attendant. For your health and safety, I would honestly encourage anyone to camp on the roadside over spending a night at this hotel. I would give Expedia's customer service a glaring zero stars as well, as Expedia's website says to call anytime, but offers no number to contact customer service. This hotel gives Wyndham and choice hotels a very bad name.

The only good thing was the service/receptionist was nice and friendly. I could overlook the remodeling project and elevator being out even though this information should have been explained before booking. Stairway was completely filthy and could use a lot of attention especially knowing guests were having to use it with elevator down. Rooms should not be carpeted unless they are willing to be cleaned which was not the case. Stained and dirty. Was put in a room straight across from stairs, so no sleep could be had with the opening and closing of the doors to the stairway all night as well as the marijuana smoke coming from the stairway. Must be the popular spot to go to for this recreation. No recommendation to stay here. I will just take my chances in the vehicle if I can not find another place in Starkville.

I'm glad I didn't use my Choice Reward Points on this place. I'm not sure what's going on at the moment, but when we stepped off the elevator on the second floor, there was a couch and a vending machine blocking one side of the hallway. Thankfully, it didn't block our way to the room, but they could've come up with a better way to do that. Also, the hallway and the rooms didn't have a real pleasing smell and there was a stain underneath the mattress as well as the floor between the two beds and underneath the nightstand. The wall outlets were all loose so when you try to plug something in, it falls out. Also one of the outlets were cracked. Then a strip of LED lights wouldn't turn off which were behind the TV. Also, the strip was unraveled on one side. The breakfast choices were rather lousy and the coffee was bitter. The attendant didn't even ask how our stay was when I checked out. I will not come here ever again. The first and second pic shows stains on the wall. The third pic shows a stain on the floor. The fourth pic shows a chipped wall outlet and a broken frame to the bed. The fifth pic is a stain on the bed base below the mattress. The sixth pic shows a poorly cleaned toilet that was like that when we checked in. The seventh pic shows a wall outlet that did a horrible job holding device plugs, which there were three other wall outlets that did the same thing. The eighth pic shows an unraveled, unkempt LED light that wouldn't turn off.

We first checked in and the lady was very nice. After checking in and taking things to my room, I found no remote for the TV. I walked back to the front desk and found a note that said the attendant had had stepped away for 30 minutes. Well a little while later, another attendant came came walking down the hall and said “you need something?” In a tone like I was bothering her. I told her about the remote and she reached into a drawer and pulled one out and told me to try it and if it didn’t work to come back and get another. Two remotes later (multiple trips to front desk) she grabbed some loose batteries and the remotes I had already tried and came to my room, shoved my stuff to the side and climbed up on the desk and started pulling wires from behind the TV and rearranged them. Got down and swapped batteries and finally found one that works and handed it to me not saying a word and walked out. A little while later my granddaughter walked to the lobby and there were people waiting in line to check in but the clerk was out front smoking. Later, we went to lobby to play cards. I needed a pen and walked up to the desk and she was asleep in her chair. I woke her and asked for a pen and she acted like I had committed a crime. After playing I took the pen back and she was again sitting in the chair on her cell phone. She never even acknowledged me. The next morning at breakfast, another guest was telling me that she was on the 3rd floor and when her and daughter stepped out of her room, the hallway was full of smoke from marijuanna. I’m done with this one.

The staff here is absolutely wonderful. I made a last minute trip due to a family emergency and ended up being over a week. I will always stay here when I’m in town
