The room was quaint, comfortable bed the shower was nice. The room amenities included coffee maker, mini fridge and also a set of dinnerware and wine glasses. The tap/sink water was reddish/orange coming out of the tap when we got there so purchased bottles waters at a local store. Secluded, not easily seen from the road and road noise was minimal when we were there. Great location, off the main highway but close enough to get to the Sequoias or Pine Flat Lake within an hour or so.
I booked a month ago, all was good. Today, the day of my stay, I departed on my 4 hour trip to stay at this place and 1hr before my arrival the booking got canceled...... No warning or any prior communication. I had this booking for a month, they could have canceled it at any time, but chose to do it when I was already on the way. I'm just lucky that I was tired and chose to drive through Fresno instead of the mountain roads, so I was able to find alternative lodging.
Cute, cozy rooms in a nice location, though a bit isolated. Nothing extravagant, but nice for a one or two night stay. Rooms equipped with A/C, mini fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and a small set of dishes. Nice shower, but the water temperature was very fluctuant. Could not get a comfortable temperature and keep it there. There was some confusion upon arrival surrounding checking in, but an email with all the necessary information was provided. A number to call was also provided in the email for any issues or questions.
Good place to getaway from the hustle and bustle. Nice COLD A/C comfortable beds with Clean Sheets. DON'T FORGET your Telescope great place for Stargazing o got to see a few meteor
First the good: the location is terrific. Next to sequoia national park and kings canyon. Rooms are in a scenic location right in nature a bit small but cozy. Bathroom was new and nicely built. But now comes the part I'm really disappointed about. Instead of a quite rest in nature... We couldn't sleep because of a running generator (all night long!) waking the entire site. On top of that our room was infested with bugs, the first hour we couldn't rest because we're squashing flies and earworms in our room. The walls have ears.. They are so thin you hear everything from your neighbors. To conclude the bedsheets were smelly and itchi and the night fee is overall too high given my explanation above. This place has a huge potential with its location and scenery, but a minimum standard is lacking to recommend this to other visitors.
It was a horrible experience. Normally i dont write review but this time i choose to write to alert others about my horrible stay. After such horrible experience owner is least bothered to revert my stay price was also bumped up without my notice I wish i could give 0 starts. We were completely deceived . Called the stay 2 hours before arrival and owner mentioned room was excellent and he offered me 20 % discount on the stay. When our family arrived along with a child room was completely a mess. Everyone was so scared to stay in the room. - Used towels all around room - Bed was messy - Dishes all around - TV did not work - Bathroom was not good. - Room was like a month used and uncleaned Since it was too late to check other options we had to stay there. in the morning when i called management he assured to revert my charges but so far after 4 weeks i dont see any response. Better sleep in your car than such place.
The bed was comfortable. The room was very small and basic but it met our needs. It’s about a 35 minute scenic and winding drive to Kings Canyon. Host was very kind!
This was truly an awful experience. If you want the most remote, difficult to get to place to stay in the area, this is it! The scenery around here is beautiful and that is its one redeeming quality. The room we stayed in could hardly be considered a hotel. More like a slumlord airbnb. As far as we can tell, it was a house divided into two rooms. The main place, room A had a beautiful front porch, where we stayed, room B, had a small set of stairs leading up to the entrance. The whole area was covered in live bugs, mostly moths and mosquitoes but also ants and other flying insects were present. As soon as you walk in, you have two squeeze by a huge double sink because the entrance is through the bathroom! After you walk past the toilet and shower, you get to the actual room. The room had a window A/C unit and heater, a microwave, mini fridge, tv, and coffee maker. The closets had glue traps and droppings, the floor was dirty and the whole place felt a bit lopsided and creaky. For furniture there was a table and chairs, and tv stand, a queen sized bed and little tables for night stands. It was dirty and stale but thankfully the AC and heater worked great. What didn’t work was the WiFi there was a router but it flashed green and the owner just said “use the other one” it worked about half the time but was for the main house and was too far away to be reliable. We used hotspots on our phones (which barely worked out here). We didn’t touch the tv. The main event though, the one that could redeem a million other issues is the bed. Unfortunately this bed was just awful. The whole thing was tilted at an angle causing the person sleeping on that side to roll towards the middle, super creaky and hard, the comforter smelled and we had a suspicion it had not been washed. And while you sleep mosquitoes dine upon your blood as a little nighttime snack. The bugs were outrageous to me. I literally bought bug spray and mosquito repellent to try and stay sane. The shower was disgusting and barely worked. The mechanism to turn it on required a shocking amount of strength and pulling in a way that made no sense to us, also the hot water is on when the arrow points to cold and vice-versa. I did not enjoy the stay and the hosts did not make it comfortable. They should consider renovating this place to make it more livable. Seal up the holes and cracks, fix the shower, and get a new bed and frame. If you choose to stay here, I hope it’s improved since my visit!
One of our best experiences to stay with Connie at The Branded Calf B&B! Very charming and warm welcome, spacious and well equipped rooms, easily accessible parking, kitchen full of amenities and all this surrounded by farmland! On the top of all thi
