Such a great course even during the cold weather. The course was maintained at exceptional condition. The sand was soft as silk. Tee boxes and greens are so clean. I will come next week again. So far, the best course for the winter in chicago area.

Nice course. Marshalls were in control but still nice. Banquet facilities have good views and the food was great.

Lovely evening at an event for 100 guests. The food, the food service, the bar service all top notch. Beautiful room and beautiful view of the 18th green while we enjoyed a fun evening of celebration.

Was treated very rudely by starter and marshals. Was told I could not golf with my oldest son and daughter on the course. Was told by starter, kids under 12 couldn’t golf or ride on cart with me and then marshal confirms what starter said. I then preceded to say I’ll just leave and get my money back since I felt they approached the situation in a rude manner. You must know, I golf here and Sykes golf course, at least four to five times a month for the past 7 years and my kids golf with me every week during the summer and I never have been treated like this or told this rule. Talking with the front desk, I found out that both the starter and marshal were wrong. I guess the rule is you have to be 8 years old to ride cart or play the course now. My son has been playing there since he was 5 years old and he’s 12 now. So parents be aware, if you have younger kids and want to enjoy a day of golf with them on the course and see that joy on their face learning to play the game you love, you can’t do it on this course or Sykes until they are 8 years old. So I guess for the next 8 years I will finding another course to play to teach my youngest son to play now.

Overall, I enjoyed the course - it was in good condition and had a fun layout. However, my experience with the marshals and starters left a lot to be desired. Despite having a tee time scheduled for 1:48 PM on a Thursday afternoon, I was told to tee off at 1:30 PM when I was waiting for my wife to arrive. The staff was incredibly rude and seemed to have little regard for my plans. When I explained that I would not tee off early because I was waiting for my wife, they were unaccommodating and insisted that there was a foursome behind us (who had not even checked in with the starter yet). Ultimately, they offered to drive my wife to me after I started playing (Still making me tee off early) - but they were still quite unpleasant when she arrived at 1:45 PM. To make matters worse, we caught up to the group in front of us on the second hole and never had anyone behind us throughout the round, so all the rushing was pointless. While I could understand their urgency if the tee sheet was packed, it was not. Despite the poor experience with the staff, I still enjoyed the course itself. I've played a lot of rounds here, and while the starters and marshals have never been super friendly, but I have never experienced anything like this before.

We recently celebrated a 70th birthday/family reunion event at the Highlands Room of St. Andrews Golf Club. We couldn’t have picked a better site to have it. All staff, from banquet manager to chef, to facility manager, to bar and serving staff were unusually helpful, pleasant, and accommodating to our needs. The room and tables were set up to our specifications, and the all-inclusive services of the banquet manager and all AV equipment, dance floor, table settings and linens made my party planning very easy. The overall cost was very reasonable. The banquet manager was immediately responsive and flexible whenever I had email or phone questions, and she made the facility available for us to try out the AV system prior to the event. She stayed onsite for our entire event from set-up to tear-down. Our guests, including many young children, enjoyed the spacious windowed room and outdoor patio. The plentiful barbecue buffet and added sundae bar was a big hit!

Unfortunately this wasn’t a good experience. My buddy scheduled a tee time and I showed up early. I went and paid for mine and stated 1:03 tee time for 2 with David Lee, even stated David Lee will be here shortly. They charge me 44 dollars and I go get a golf cart and proceed to get my bags. Once my buddy David Lee arrived he goes in and buys balls etc and checks in. We proceed to the check in box and the lady explained only one person is down for the tee time. David Lee was under the impression he paid online and we explained we both had paid etc. The lady was nice and radioed to the club house and told us to go back to the clubhouse and they will straighten it out and fit us in. This is where the worse business etiquette I’ve ever experienced was demonstrated by a young boy named Preston working the clubhouse. We walk up to the counter and said can we speak to a manger because we have some confusion and need to get it straightened out where we can both be registered for tee times. Mr. Preston immediately states “Oh, you all are the ones that tried to lie and say you paid online to the check in box just now.” It was in a very arrogant way as well, and caught me off guard. I of course said excuse me, and he proceeds to tell us their course don’t take payments online. We pull the reservation up from online and show him and he confirms David Lee didn’t submit payment when the reservation was made. The sad part about this is, we didn’t try to lie or anything of the such and it was a complete misunderstanding. And instead of this little boy being a professional, he immediately greeted us with “Oh, you’re the ones that were trying to lie to the check in box”. Pretty pathetic considering at the moment we had already spent over a 100 dollars in clubhouse for various things and it was a complete oversight and misunderstanding. I’m writing this for the owners of this golf course, where they can prevent having such bad etiquette and display for their course by letting Preston have any communication with customers. He belongs in the back doing dishes for the cafe part of the clubhouse.

Great course in great shape. Even in the 100-degree temps, everything was green and well groomed.
